Giants wide receivers coach Sean Ryan said WR Corey Washington "had an excellent spring."
Washington was the star of the Giants' offseason program last year, but his limitations on special teams limited his role in the regular season. With the top three spots in the wide receiver corps set, Washington will have to improve on special teams to even be active on game days. Jun 20 - 12:40 PM

Giants WR Corey Washington must perform more consistently on special teams to earn a larger role on offense.

If you're not a top-three receiver on your respective team, you need to be able to cover kicks and punts. Washington couldn't do that as a rookie and was inactive for much of the year after a dominant preseason. With the Giants appearing to be loaded at receiver, Washington will have to have another strong summer to make the 53-man roster. He's an imposing 6'4/214.

Giants WR Corey Washington was a healthy scratch in Week 17.

The meaningless finale against the Eagles' inept secondary seemed like a perfect spot to get Washington some real NFL chances. The Giants curiously didn't see it that way. So Washington's rookie season ends with five catches for 52 yards and one touchdown in 14 games. He'll likely be buried on the depth chart again next year with Odell Beckham, Victor Cruz (if healthy) and Rueben Randle all under contract.

Coach Tom Coughlin said Corey Washington needs to practice better and do more on special teams to earn more offensive snaps.

With the Giants' season lost, Washington played just one snap last week against the Redskins and 54 in total as a rookie. "Do a better job on the practice field. Do a better job all around," Coughlin said. "He does have to, obviously, become better at his job." Coughlin says Washington knows the offense well enough to play. But he remains behind Kevin Ogletree. Washington remains a player worth holding in deeper Dynasty leagues after dominating the preseason.

Giants WR Corey Washington caught four passes for 48 yards and one touchdown in the Giants' Week 9 blowout loss to the Colts.

Washington was only in the game deep in the fourth quarter because of the score and Preston Parker hurt his foot. Washington, an UDFA rookie out of Newberry, had played just 24 snaps the previous eight games. He's a 6-foot-4, 214-pound jump-ball specialist with a limited route tree. But Washington is worth keeping an eye on, especially in Dynasty. If Parker is out for an extended time, Washington should see increased looks in the Giants' three-wide base set. He dominated the preseason for 10-155-4.

Giants WRs coach Sean Ryan says Corey Washington remains "a work in progress."

"He's learning to run an entire route tree," Ryan said when asked why Washington isn't playing. "There is growing to be done with Corey. He works on his releases, his routes, his top of the breaks, getting out of those -- things he needs to improve on." At 6'4/214, Washington is merely a Dynasty stash and watch-list candidate. With Odell Beckham and Rueben Randle expected to see increased reps in the slot with Victor Cruz out, Washington could see a few snaps on the outside.

The New York Daily News suggests Corey Washington could get a look as a red-zone package player going forward.

Washington was the star of Giants training camp, catching four touchdowns in preseason games and making the team as an undrafted free agent out of tiny Newberry College. At 6'4/214 with 4.5 speed, he's the kind of player we like to take shots on. Now that Victor Cruz (knee) is down, there's room for the Giants to give Washington some snaps, although Preston Parker will likely get the first chance in three-wide sets. Washington is just a player to put on watch lists.

Undrafted rookie WR Corey Washington has made the Giants' 53-man roster.

We wouldn't be surprised to see Washington play in three- or four-wide sets to open the year. The 22-year-old from tiny Newberry College finished the exhibition season with 10 catches for 155 yards and four touchdowns. A favorite of small-school receiver guru Matthew Freedman, Washington has 4.50 speed and a 10-foot-5 broad jump at 6-foot-4, 214. He's worth a serious look in Dynasty leagues.

Giants coach Tom Coughlin said undrafted WR Corey Washington has played in "superb fashion" and that "certainly gets your attention."

Washington is having a strong preseason with a touchdown in four straight games. He should be a lock for a roster spot. Washington could push for snaps in red-zone and four-wide packages.

Corey Washington caught 2-of-4 targets for 36 yards and a touchdown in Friday's preseason game.

Another nice stat line, but all of Washington's work came with Ryan Nassib and the second-team offense. Nevertheless, he's now up to nine catches for 152 yards and four touchdowns through four preseason games. He's just about sewn up a spot on the 53-man roster.

Giants undrafted WRs Corey Washington and Marcus Harris are expected to get some work with the first-team offense in Friday's fourth preseason game.

It's expected to come at the expense of Jerrel Jernigan, who is in danger of being cut. Washington has been the Giants' best receiver this summer, reeling in all seven of his targets for 116 yards and three scores. Washington is fully expected to make the 53-man roster. Harris is likely competing with Mario Manningham.

NJ.com believes UDFA WR Corey Washington will "almost certainly" make the final roster.

The 6'4/215 Washington has come from tiny Newberry College to emerge as one of the stars of Giants camp. Per beat man Jordan Raanan, people inside the organization are intrigued by his unique ability to make plays in the air. We've seen that in each of the three preseason games, as Washington has posted a 7-116-3 line on seven targets. He'll likely open the season as the Giants' No. 5 wideout and should be on deep Dynasty radars.

Undrafted rookie WR Corey Washington has "done some special things over the last week," according to OC Ben McAdoo.

It's getting harder and harder to ignore the buzz on Washington, who is trying to pull a Victor Cruz and make the Giants out of tiny Newberry College. Washington does have intriguing measurables at 6'4/214 with 4.5s speed. And through two preseason games, he has four catches for 96 yards and two touchdowns. Washington has gone from camp body to underdog story.
