Giants GM Jerry Reese is open to re-signing free agent G/C Rich Seubert, who was released on Thursday.
The same is true of free agent C Shaun O'Hara. "We always try to leave the doors open for any transactions that have been made with us," Reese said. "We don’t try to burn any bridges with anybody, so yes that door is still open. Hopefully both of them will be healthy enough to play at some point." Sat, Jul 30, 2011 10:06:00 AM

Giants informed G/C Rich Seubert of his release.

He was due to earn $2.25 million this season. The 32-year-old was expected to start the season on the PUP list after major knee surgery in January. It's not clear if the Giants are open to re-signing Seubert at a lower salary.

Mike Garafolo of the Newark Star-Ledger suggests that Giants C/G Rich Seubert (knee) will open the season on the PUP list.

"Physically Unable to Perform" keeps a player out for his team's first six games of the season. Seubert underwent an extensive knee surgery in January that was similar in nature to microfracture. The 32-year-old just recently began jogging and shouldn't be in the team's plans as a starter this season.

Giants C/G Rich Seubert (knee surgery) concedes that he may not start running until just before August.

In addition to surgery to repair a dislocated knee cap with ligament and tendon damage, Seubert also underwent a "mosaicplasty" -- similar in nature to a microfracture procedure. He's no sure bet to bounce back at age 32.

Giants C/G Rich Seubert's January knee surgery was similar in nature to a microfracture procedure.

Seubert had a piece of bone from a "non-weight bearing" section of his leg transferred to his right knee to fill a hole. Also included were reconstructive MCL surgery and reattaching of the patella tendon. Seubert is confident that he'll play in 2011, but there's a good chance he'll be less than 100 percent for the start of the season.

Giants C/G Rich Seubert's January knee surgery repaired a dislocated kneecap along with ligament and tendon damage.

It was a major operation, and one that makes upgrading the offensive line that much more of a priority for the aging Giants. Seubert turns 32 in March and is due a $2.25 million salary in 2011. His play last season warranted that price tag, but we're not so sure he's going to be healthy by Week 1.

Giants C/G Rich Seubert underwent surgery Tuesday to repair a dislocated right kneecap.

The complex surgery also involved a repair of the torn patella tendon and damaged MCL. Seubert faces a "long rehab" after major surgery. He's unlikely to be recovered by training camp, and the start of the 2011 season is in question.

Giants C/G Rich Seubert suffered a torn right patellar tendon in the team's Week 17 win over Washington.

Not the way to end an exceptional bounce-back season. Seubert, 31, also suffered a dislocated kneecap, and will likely require extensive surgery this offseason. His 2010 play certainly merits the Giants picking up his $2.25 million salary for 2011, but the injury won't help Seubert's chances of retaining a starting job. He'll be questionable for training camp.

Giants C Rich Seubert was knocked out early in the first quarter of Week 16 with a dislocated kneecap.

It was evident from the start that the injury was serious, as Seubert dropped to the ground and immediately signaled for the training staff. He had to be carted off, and was in clear pain en route to the locker room. Seubert started in place of Shaun O'Hara. The Giants will have to use G Kevin Boothe in the middle for the remainder of the game.

Giants OL Rich Seubert will get the start at center Sunday with Shaun O'Hara (foot) out.

Seubert started at center in Week 9 with O'Hara's backup, Adam Koets (ACL) out for the season. Kevin Boothe will likely draw the start at LG when the Giants square off against the Cowboys Sunday afternoon.

Giants LG Rich Seubert (broken hand) returned to practice on Monday.

David Diehl moved back to left tackle, with William Beatty dropping to the second team. Seubert, 31, was the weakest link on New York's line last year, but the team has shown no urgency to replace him during training camp.

Giants LG Rich Seubert showed up to Friday's practice with a broken bone in his left hand.

Seubert is sitting out practice while sporting a cast on his hand. There's officially no timetable for a return, but beat writer Mike Garafolo is "hearing" just one week. Seubert is fighting to keep his starting job this summer.

Giants LG Rich Seubert is in danger of losing his starting job, according to ESPN's Len Pasquarelli.

Guy Whimper has been getting snaps with the first unit during spring practices and there's also a chance that David Diehl could kick inside if William Beatty proves he can handle the left tackle spot. Seubert graded out as the No. 26 overall guard last season, according to He was especially poor in run-blocking.

Giants LG Rich Seubert does not believe the knee injury he suffered Monday night is serious.

Ahmad Bradshaw crashed into the side of Seubert's knee in the first quarter and Seubert did not return. Kevin Boothe filled in nicely.

Giants LG Rich Seubert was helped off the field in the first quarter of Monday night's game with an apparent right knee injury and is questionable to return.

Seubert was hurt on Ahmad Bradshaw's early touchdown run and immediately grabbed his right knee. His backup is Kevin Boothe.
