Falcons extended a second-round tender to restricted free agent WR Taylor Gabriel.
Since Gabriel was undrafted out of college, Atlanta had to come up to the second-round level rather than the "original-pick" level to keep teams from coming after him. Gabriel will be back in Atlanta on a one-year, $2.81 million deal barring an extension. The 26-year-old had a strong 2016 as a big-play threat in the league's top offense. He'll fill a similar 2017 role as an up-and-down fantasy WR4. Mar 3 - 12:47 PM

Restricted free agent Taylor Gabriel says he hopes to re-sign with the Falcons.

Per ESPN's Vaughn McClure, the "feeling from the team is mutual." The big-play threat emerged as an important weapon during the Falcons' Super Bowl run, catching 35 passes for 579 yards and six touchdowns. Turning 26 on Friday, Gabriel will likely be tendered at the second-round level.

Feb 14 - 6:54 PM

Taylor Gabriel caught 3-of-5 targets for 76 yards in the Falcons' Super Bowl 51 loss to the Patriots.

Gabriel ripped off chunk-yardage gains on his three receptions, but the Falcons barely had the ball and failed to establish an offensive rhythm in the second half. An impending restricted free agent, 26-year-old Gabriel should draw a second-round tender. While not a high-volume receiver, Gabriel's 4.4-flat speed has made him an integral role player in Atlanta's deep offense.
Feb 5 - 11:28 PM

Taylor Gabriel caught 2-of-3 targets for 24 yards in the Falcons' NFC Championship Game win over the Packers.

Gabriel's missed connection was a rare drop. The Falcons will need Gabriel to bust a big play or two to bring home the Lombardi Trophy in Super Bowl 51.

Taylor Gabriel wasn't listed on the Falcons' final injury report for Sunday's NFC Championship Game

Gabriel was limited with a toe/foot injury earlier in the week, but he was upgraded to full practice on Friday. He won't have any restrictions against the Packers. Gabriel caught all three of his targets for 68 yards and a touchdown when he faced Green Bay in Week 8.
Jan 20 - 3:50 PM

Taylor Gabriel (foot) remained "limited" in Thursday's practice.

The Falcons are just managing Gabriel's reps ahead of Sunday's NFC title tilt.
Jan 19 - 4:34 PM

Taylor Gabriel (foot) was limited at Wednesday's practice.

Gabriel returned for the Divisional Round after sitting out the regular season finale, catching 4-of-6 targets for 71 yards. The Falcons are limiting his reps ahead of Sunday's NFC Championship.

RotoGrinders.com Daily Slant: Per Mike Clay, the Packers have allowed the most FPPG to WRs who line up on the right side of the field, something that bodes particularly well for Taylor Gabriel. The speedy receiver lines up on the right side about half the time, with Julio Jones running roughly a third of his routes out of that spot. It's possible that the Packers use LaDarius Gunter to shadow Jones, but that would even further increase the appeal of Gabriel. On the other side of this match-up, the Falcons have allowed the 2nd most FPPG to slot receivers, so Randall Cobb becomes very intriguing if Jordy Nelson sits.
Jan 18 - 4:30 PM

Taylor Gabriel caught 4-of-6 targets for 71 yards in the Falcons' Divisional Round win over the Seahawks.

The yards were Gabriel's most in two months. Gabriel is a threat to bust a huge play every time he touches the ball, but hasn't seen much volume since Mohamed Sanu's healthy return.
Jan 14 - 8:52 PM

Taylor Gabriel (foot) returned to practice Wednesday.

The Falcons are on a bye week for the first round of the playoffs, but they anticipate being 100 percent healthy for the Divisional Round, getting Gabriel and Austin Hooper (knee) back. That's a scary thought for opponents.
Jan 4 - 11:17 AM

The Falcons expect Taylor Gabriel (foot) and TE Austin Hooper (knee) to practice this week.

Both players sat out Week 17, but are expected to be ready for the Divisional Round. At full strength, the Falcons have a daunting, dangerous skill corps.
Jan 2 - 2:52 PM

Falcons declared WR Taylor Gabriel, TE Austin Hooper, RB Terron Ward, CB Blidi Wreh-Wilson, S Dashon Goldson, LB Josh Keyes, and OG Wes Schweitzer inactive for Week 17 against the Saints.

There are no surprises here. Gabriel and Hooper should be back for the playoffs.
Jan 1 - 3:28 PM

Taylor Gabriel (foot) is out for Week 17 against the Saints.

So is Austin Hooper (knee). It's great news for Julio Jones, who should see a heavy workload in a plus home matchup against the Saints. Cut from the Browns at the end of training camp, Gabriel was a pleasant surprise for Atlanta. He'll finish the regular season with 35 catches for 579 yards and six touchdowns. He also rushed four times for 51 yards and one score.

Taylor Gabriel (foot) returned to a limited practice on Thursday.

He should be all set for Sunday's regular season finale against New Orleans. Gabriel is merely a WR3/4 with Julio Jones (toe) back in the lineup.
Thu, Dec 29, 2016 01:13:00 PM

Taylor Gabriel (foot) did not practice Wednesday.

Gabriel came back to Earth last week, catching just three passes for 15 yards with Julio Jones back active. Gabriel is merely a boom-or-bust WR3/4.
Wed, Dec 28, 2016 04:02:00 PM

Taylor Gabriel caught 3-of-4 targets for 15 yards in the Falcons' Week 16 win over the Panthers.

Gabriel was almost invisible with Julio Jones back on the field, but he came close to his seventh touchdown of the season when he was dragged down at the one in the second quarter. With Jones looking healthy, Gabriel will revert back to a big-play-or-bust option in deep leagues.
