Bucs re-signed TE Cameron Brate to a six-year, $41 million contract.
ESPN's Jenna Laine reports the deal includes $18 million guaranteed. It's a huge contract for the former undrafted free agent, especially considering the Bucs used a first-round pick on O.J. Howard last spring. Brate isn't much of a blocker but is one of Jameis Winston's favorite targets, particularly in the red zone. He has 14 touchdowns over the past two seasons. The Harvard man turns 27 in July. Mar 12 - 2:31 PM

Trevor Sikkema of Pewter Report expects restricted free agent Cameron Brate to command a deal worth $6.5-7.5 million annually.

The high end of that would put Brate firmly in the top-ten at his position, though the Bucs may be reluctant to dish out that kind of coin, especially after taking O.J. Howard in the first round of last year's draft. Brate remained productive with 591 receiving yards in 2017 and has visited the end zone 14 times in his last two seasons, third among tight ends behind only Jimmy Graham and Kyle Rudolph. Because he's a restricted free agent, the Bucs can keep Brate by matching any offer he receives on the open market.

Cameron Brate caught 3-of-5 targets for 37 yards in the Bucs' Week 17 win over the Saints.

After leading all NFL tight ends in touchdown catches in 2016, Brate took a 2017 step back as he lost significant playing time to rookie O.J. Howard. Brate wraps his third NFL season with 48 catches for 591 yards and six scores. Brate has proven to be a useful possession and red-zone tight end, but Howard is the future in Tampa Bay. Expect Howard to take over as the Bucs’ full-time tight end in 2018. Brate will likely regress into even more of a passing-down-only, sub-package role.

Cameron Brate (back) is questionable for Week 17 against the Saints.

Despite the questionable tag, Brate is almost a lock to play after getting in a full practice Friday. The tight end disappointed last week even with O.J. Howard sidelined, but his touchdown upside makes him worth a look in DFS.

Cameron Brate (back) returned to practice on Thursday.

He got a maintenance day on Wednesday. Brate should be fine for Sunday's season finale versus New Orleans. He's been held under 20 yards in six of his last eight games, including last week's loss to Carolina (three catches for 13 yards).

Cameron Brate (back) is not practicing Wednesday.

Anthony Auclair and Alan Cross would handle TE duties if Brate can't play.

Cameron Brate caught 3-of-4 targets for 13 yards in the Bucs' Week 16 loss to the Panthers.

Brate was targeted in the end zone on the missed connection and drew a penalty on the play. The Bucs then settled for a field goal. Brate will be a TE1/2 next week for the finale against the Saints.

Cameron Brate (hip, knee) is active for Week 16 against the Panthers.

Brate's status was never really in doubt. With O.J. Howard (ankle) done for the final two weeks, Brate should resume clear-cut No. 1 tight end duties and figure prominently in the red zone. Inactive for Tampa Bay is DeSean Jackson, QB Ryan Griffin, CB Ryan Smith, LB Nigel Harris, OL Adam Gettis, DE Patrick O'Connor, and DE Robert Ayers. Chris Godwin should start for Jackson.

ESPN's Adam Schefter reports Cameron Brate (hip, knee, questionable) is expected to play Week 16 against the Panthers.

It is not a surprise after Brate was able to play through the knee injury last week. With O.J. Howard (ankle) on injured reserve and DeSean Jackson (ankle) out, Brate should see a larger target share than usual and is always a good bet for a touchdown. That makes him a back-end TE1.

Cameron Brate (hip, knee) is questionable for Week 16 against the Panthers.

He suffered a knee injury against Atlanta in Week 15 but returned later in the game. Brate still hasn't looked 100 percent in recent weeks. With that said, he remains in line for a bigger role this week with O.J. Howard (ankle) on I.R.

Cameron Brate (hip, knee) remained limited at Thursday's practice.

Brate hurt his knee in the first half Monday against Atlanta but returned after halftime. With O.J. Howard (ankle) on I.R., Brate will be a borderline TE1 Sunday at Carolina.

Cameron Brate (hip, knee) was limited at Wednesday's practice.

Brate played through his knee injury in the second half of Week 15. He should be for Sunday's game with Carolna. With O.J. Howard on IR, Brate is on the streaminig radar.

Cameron Brate caught 4-of-5 targets for 49 yards in the Bucs' Week 15 loss to the Falcons.

Brate could have had a bigger day but was knocked out of the game with a knee injury early. Returning after halftime, Brate made multiple big catches over the middle of the field. He tied with WR Adam Humphries for the second-most targets on the team. If Howard is unable to play, Brate is an interesting streamer for Week 16 against the Panthers.

Cameron Brate returned to Week 15 against the Falcons.

Brate was injured on a big hit over the middle in the first half but was able to return after sitting out the whole second quarter. With O.J. Howard knocked out of the game already, Brate will be the primary tight end target the rest of the game.

Cameron Brate exited Week 15 against the Falcons with a knee injury and is questionable to return.

Brate got laid out on an ill-advised throw over the middle. He had zero catches on one target prior to the injury.
