Cameron Brate caught 2-of-3 targets for 24 yards in the Bucs' Week 2 win over the Bears.
Brate drew a defensive holding call on the Bucs' third play from scrimmage, but was mostly invisible thereafter. Per Pro Football Focus, Brate was out-snapped 45-37 by O.J. Howard, but that probably had something to do with the second half being noncompetitive. Brate will be a bottom-barrel TE2 for Week 3 against the Vikings. Sep 17 - 6:19 PM

Pewter Report suggests Cameron Brate may keep his first-team role over rookie O.J. Howard to begin the season.

Jameis Winston developed an on-field rapport with Brate last season, and it has carried over into OTAs. Pewter Report says Brate and Winston's "chemistry is going to be tough to dethrone," and "it might be more difficult than we thought to see (Howard) as a solidified first-team player" due to Winston and Brate's connection. As rookie tight ends tend to struggle for box-score production, Brate scoring more 2017 fantasy points than Howard would not surprise.

Bucs re-signed TE Cameron Brate to a one-year, $690,000 contract.

An exclusive rights free agent, Brate's return was a formality. WR Adam Humphries has also signed his ERFA tender. Coming off an excellent 2016, Brate has emerged as one of Jameis Winston's preferred targets in the red zone. Even with DeSean Jackson joining the Bucs' receiver corps, Brate could remain a low-end TE1 in 2017.

The Bucs tendered exclusive rights free agent TE Cameron Brate.

Brate broke out with 57 catches for 660 yards and eight touchdowns in 2016. There have been rumors the Bucs will add a more dynamic tight end this offseason, but if they plan to open 2017 with Brate as their primary option, it would make a lot of sense to work out a long-term extension. Brate will be a restricted free agent next offseason if he plays under the tender this year.

Bucs placed TE Cameron Brate on injured reserve with a back injury, ending his season.

All it really means is that Brate wasn't going to be ready for Week 17. Brate took a colossal shot to the back in Saturday's loss to the Saints. It ended a surprisingly strong campaign for the third-year UDFA, one that made former second-rounder Austin Seferian-Jenkins expendable. The Harvard Man caught 57 passes for 660 yards and eight touchdowns in 15 games. His 11.6 yards per catch are in the upper half for tight ends. An exclusive rights free agent, Brate could very well return as the Bucs' starter in 2017. He enters the offseason as a top-15 tight end.

Cameron Brate was forced from Tampa's Week 16 game against the Saints with a back injury.

Brate took a colossal shot to the back in the third quarter. He was initially deemed "questionable," but downgraded to "doubtful" in the fourth. He won't return. Brate had only one catch before departing, but it came in the end zone. Per the FOX announcing crew, Brate could neither stand nor sit on his own on the sideline he was in so much pain.

Cameron Brate caught 5-of-8 targets for 73 yards and a touchdown in Week 15 against Dallas.

Brate was held to one catch in the first half. He got inside position in the red-zone and scored a 10-yard touchdown to give the Bucs a third quarter lead they couldn't hold. Teams have been bracketing Mike Evans and letting Tampa beat them with Brate over the last month. Brate is a low-end TE1 for Week 16 against the Saints.

Cameron Brate caught 4-of-5 targets for 47 yards in the Bucs' Week 14 win over the Saints.

Brate was the Bucs' leading receiver in a low-scoring slugfest. Brate has a low ceiling, but has essentially turned into late-period Antonio Gates, catching 5-6 weekly passes for 40-50 yards while providing 50-50 touchdown odds. He can be fired up as a TE1 against the Cowboys in Week 15.

Cameron Brate caught 6-of-9 targets for 86 yards and a touchdown in the Bucs' Week 13 win over the Chargers.

As Chargers top CB Casey Hayward put clamps on Mike Evans (3-38-0), Brate stepped up as Jameis Winston's go-to receiver. Brate isn't a great athlete and doesn't do anything flashy, and has struggled to maintain a full-time role due to blocking deficiencies. But he is an adept possession target and one of Winston's favorite options in the red zone. Brate will be a low-end TE1 when the Bucs host the Saints in Week 14.

Cameron Brate caught 4-of-5 targets for 49 yards Week 12 against the Seahawks.

Brate could have paid off his fantasy owners in a big way by coming down with a touchdown late in the game, but the play was called back on a penalty. Jameis Winston threw a terrible interception on the next play. Brate has been a consistent part of the offense, but he needs a touchdown to return real value. He will be a borderline TE1 next week against the Chargers.

Cameron Brate snagged two-of-three targets for 18 yards Sunday in the Buccaneers' Week 11 win over the Chiefs.

A week after netting a career-high 84 yards, Brate was barely heard from on Sunday. This is another example of why point-chasing is such a dangerous practice in fantasy. Brate will have a productive game every now and then, but he shouldn’t be a staple in any fantasy lineups. He’ll be a TE2 against Seattle in Week 12.

Cameron Brate corralled all seven of his targets for 84 yards and a touchdown Sunday in the Buccaneers' Week 10 win over the Bears.

With Mike Evans held in check by Tracy Porter, Brate ended up being Jameis Winston’s go-to receiver on Sunday. Brate went nuts in the first half with six catches for 70 yards on six targets. One of those catches went for a 10-yard touchdown late in the second quarter. Brate was only targeted once in the second half as the Bucs built a huge lead and basically stopped throwing. Brate is now tied for the league lead in touchdowns among tight ends and continues to be a useful streaming option in fantasy. He’ll get the Chiefs on the road in Week 11.

Cameron Brate delivered five catches for 43 yards and a touchdown on six targets Thursday in the Buccaneers' Week 9 loss to the Falcons.

Brate was mostly a non-factor, though he did luck into a late touchdown. Four of his six targets came in the second half. Brate actually would have had another touchdown in the first half, but the play was overturned when officials determined that he was down by contact before reaching the end zone. He’ll be an interesting streamer next week against the Bears if Mike Evans (concussion) is unavailable.

Cameron Brate caught 3-of-5 targets for 22 yards and a touchdown in the Bucs' Week 8 loss to the Raiders.

Brate has been held below 40 yards in three straight games, and hasn't seen an increase in usage since Vincent Jackson's injury. He's a touchdown-dependent TE2 desperado.

Cameron Brate caught 3-of-3 targets for 29 yards in the Bucs' Week 7 win over the 49ers.

Brate's usage has been inconsistent week to week in a passing game dominated by Mike Evans, who was targeted a whopping 13 times on Sunday. Brate still has fantasy value as a critical red-zone target for Jameis Winston. Brate will be on the lower-end TE1 map when Tampa Bay hosts Oakland in Week 8.
