Cameron Brate (ankle) was limited at Wednesday's practice.
The injury shouldn't keep Brate from playing Sunday against the division-rival Falcons. Brate got off to a hot start this year but has averaged just 10.3 receiving yards over his last three games and hasn't scored a touchdown since Week 6. He's fallen off the TE1 radar. Nov 22 - 4:51 PM

Date:

Cameron Brate caught 1-of-3 targets for 12 yards in Sunday's Week 11 win over the Dolphins.

Brate's involvement in the offense continues to dwindle, as he now has exactly one catch in three consecutive games. With Fitzpatrick under center, Brate has collected just 11.1 percent of the Tampa Bay targets after receiving 16 percent of the targets from Jameis Winston. He can longer be counted on in lineups next week against the Falcons.
Nov 19 - 5:28 PM

Cameron Brate caught 1-of-3 targets for 10 yards in the Bucs' Week 10 win over the Jets.

One of the most consistent tight ends in fantasy for most of the year, Brate has now been held to ten yards or fewer in two straight games. This was a very disappointing effort from a player who looked set up for success against a Jets defense that has been hemorrhaging fantasy points to tight ends. Week 11 opponent Miami has struggled even more to defend the position. Still, Ryan Fitzpatrick's under-center presence will increase Brate's volatility.
Nov 12 - 5:30 PM

Cameron Brate caught 1-of-4 targets for nine yards in Sunday's Week 9 loss to the Saints.

It was Brate's worst game of the season in a long line of worst games of the season for Tampa Bay skill players as the Buccaneers quarterbacks totaled just 135 passing yards. The Buccaneers have now scored just one offensive touchdown over their past two games, which is always going to neutralize a touchdown threat such as Brate for fantasy purposes, but it was the first game since the season opener in which he wasn't a top-12 scoring tight end. Brate will be a low-TE1 option next week versus the Jets.
Nov 5 - 5:43 PM

Cameron Brate caught 4-of-5 targets for 64 yards in the Bucs' Week 8 loss to the Panthers.

Brate has now cleared 60 yards receiving in five straight games, though the five targets were his fewest since Week 3. His missed connection was a Jameis Winston interception. It was a terrible decision from the quarterback on a play where Luke Kuechly ran Brate's route for him. Brate's rookie rival O.J. Howard could manage just two grabs for 16 yards. Brate will remain a TE1 for Week 9 against the Saints.
Oct 29 - 5:23 PM

Cameron Brate caught 6-of-9 targets for 59 yards in the Bucs' Week 7 loss to the Bills.

O.J. Howard was the tight end star of this one, turning in a career-best 6/98/2 receiving line as the Bills' defense repeatedly refused to cover him. Brate still out-targeted Howard by three and remains the Bucs' tight end to rely on in fantasy. He'll be a low-end TE1 when Tampa Bay hosts Carolina next.
Oct 22 - 4:29 PM

Cameron Brate caught 6-of-8 targets for 76 yards and a touchdown in the Bucs' Week 6 loss to the Cardinals.

Ryan Fitzpatrick force fed Brate targets over the middle, where the Cardinals have struggled to defend tight ends. Brate's second-half blowup was critical to Tampa Bay's near comeback, rallying from a 31-0 deficit to make it 38-33 at the final bell. Keep Brate rolling as an underrated TE1 in Week 7 against the Bills.
Oct 15 - 8:19 PM

Cameron Brate caught 5-of-9 targets for 68 yards and a touchdown in the Bucs' Week 5 loss to the Patriots.

It was a nice night that could have been bigger. Brate committed two drops, the first of which occurred in the end zone. Regardless, he's now scored in three straight games. The tight end tough Arizona Cardinals are on tap for Week 6, but Brate is impossible to leave out of the TE1 ranks right now.
Oct 6 - 12:17 AM

Cameron Brate hauled in 4-of-6 targets for 80 yards and a touchdown in the Bucs' Week 4 win over the Giants.

After losing O.J. Howard on a 58-yard touchdown, the Giants left Brate open across the middle for a 35-yard gain in the first half. Unfortunately, Brate could not build on the catch, dropping an end zone target before halftime and missing another target on fourth down in the fourth quarter. He made up for it when it mattered, however, coming down with a 14-yard score to give the Bucs a late lead and setting up the game-winning field goal with a great catch over his shoulder. Losing targets to Howard, Brate will be a volatile fantasy option moving forward, but he will have a good shot at a touchdown each week. That keeps him in the streaming mix in good matchups, like the one he will have Thursday night against the Patriots.
Oct 1 - 8:48 PM

Cameron Brate caught 4-of-4 targets for 33 yards and a touchdown in the Bucs' Week 3 loss to the Vikings.

Brate has been rotating nearly evenly with O.J. Howard. Howard is primarily a blocker at this stage of his rookie season, so Brate has some fantasy appeal as a catch-first tight end. Brate gets a premium Week 4 matchup against the Giants. Howard was targeted only once in Sunday's loss to Minnesota.
Sep 24 - 4:51 PM

Cameron Brate caught 2-of-3 targets for 24 yards in the Bucs' Week 2 win over the Bears.

Brate drew a defensive holding call on the Bucs' third play from scrimmage, but was mostly invisible thereafter. Per Pro Football Focus, Brate was out-snapped 45-37 by O.J. Howard, but that probably had something to do with the second half being noncompetitive. Brate will be a bottom-barrel TE2 for Week 3 against the Vikings.
Sep 17 - 6:19 PM

Pewter Report suggests Cameron Brate may keep his first-team role over rookie O.J. Howard to begin the season.

Jameis Winston developed an on-field rapport with Brate last season, and it has carried over into OTAs. Pewter Report says Brate and Winston's "chemistry is going to be tough to dethrone," and "it might be more difficult than we thought to see (Howard) as a solidified first-team player" due to Winston and Brate's connection. As rookie tight ends tend to struggle for box-score production, Brate scoring more 2017 fantasy points than Howard would not surprise.
Jun 10 - 1:28 AM

Bucs re-signed TE Cameron Brate to a one-year, $690,000 contract.

An exclusive rights free agent, Brate's return was a formality. WR Adam Humphries has also signed his ERFA tender. Coming off an excellent 2016, Brate has emerged as one of Jameis Winston's preferred targets in the red zone. Even with DeSean Jackson joining the Bucs' receiver corps, Brate could remain a low-end TE1 in 2017.
Apr 17 - 2:36 PM

The Bucs tendered exclusive rights free agent TE Cameron Brate.

Brate broke out with 57 catches for 660 yards and eight touchdowns in 2016. There have been rumors the Bucs will add a more dynamic tight end this offseason, but if they plan to open 2017 with Brate as their primary option, it would make a lot of sense to work out a long-term extension. Brate will be a restricted free agent next offseason if he plays under the tender this year.
Feb 28 - 10:32 AM

Bucs placed TE Cameron Brate on injured reserve with a back injury, ending his season.

All it really means is that Brate wasn't going to be ready for Week 17. Brate took a colossal shot to the back in Saturday's loss to the Saints. It ended a surprisingly strong campaign for the third-year UDFA, one that made former second-rounder Austin Seferian-Jenkins expendable. The Harvard Man caught 57 passes for 660 yards and eight touchdowns in 15 games. His 11.6 yards per catch are in the upper half for tight ends. An exclusive rights free agent, Brate could very well return as the Bucs' starter in 2017. He enters the offseason as a top-15 tight end.
