Suspended DE Randy Gregory will apply for reinstatement on Thursday.
The No. 60 overall pick in 2015, Gregory recently wrapped up six weeks in intensive drug and alcohol rehab and counseling, according to NFL Network's Ian Rapoport. He's appeared in just 14 career games and missed all of last season while banned. Gregory would be a boost to Dallas' pass rush. May 16 - 1:11 PM

The Dallas Morning News reports suspended DE Randy Gregory will apply for reinstatement this month.

Gregory was suspended all of 2017 after being banned for all but two games in 2016, and TMZ Sports reported he failed another drug test last spring while he was suspended. If the report is true, it could make it difficult for him to gain reinstatement. Once Gregory files, he will have to meet with Roger Goodell before the commissioner makes a decision. The Cowboys should find a place for the former second-round pick if he gets cleared.

The Dallas Morning News reports suspended DE Randy Gregory is in the process of applying for reinstatement.

Gregory hasn't appeared in a game since the final week of 2016. He's been "laying the groundwork" for a return and could meet with Commissioner Roger Goodell this offseason. EVP Stephen Jones said at the Combine he was moving forward without Gregory, but the Dallas Morning News expects the Cowboys to find a place for him if he's cleared. Despite not showing much before his suspensions, getting Gregory back would give the Cowboys a pass-rushing upgrade in sub-packages.

Cowboys EVP Stephen Jones says the team is taking a "worst-case scenario" outlook with suspended DE Randy Gregory.

Jones essentially said the Cowboys will believe Gregory is back when they see it. The No. 60 overall pick of the 2015 draft has missed all but two games with suspension over the past two seasons. He is eligible to apply for reinstatement this offseason and is expected to do so.
Feb 27 - 1:28 PM

Suspended Cowboys DE Randy Gregory is expected to apply for reinstatement in the offseason.

Gregory is technically eligible to apply on Nov. 6, but is suspended through the end of the 2017 season. He will instead wait until the offseason. Gregory has made just 14 appearances since being the No. 60 overall pick of the 2015 draft.

TMZ Sports reports Cowboys suspended DE Randy Gregory failed another drug test.

Gregory is currently serving a suspension of at least one year for a previous failed test. TMZ Sports reports Gregory has "blown off" NFL officials since being notified of the failed test in March, and "people connected to Gregory" believe his NFL career might be over. If he did actually fail another test, his friends are likely correct. A second-round pick in 2015, Gregory has played in just 14 games in two seasons including just two last year because of injury and suspension.

NFL suspended Cowboys DE Randy Gregory at least one year for violating the league's substance-abuse policy.

Gregory's return lasted all of two games. Before he's accepted back in the league, he'll have to apply for reinstatement. Gregory has battled substance abuse issues since his college days at Nebraska. This is already his third suspension since entering the league in 2015. Gregory has proven to be a solid pass-rusher when he's not suspended, but his continual disregard for the league's drug policy could cost him his career.

Randy Gregory's appeal hearing for his one-year suspension is scheduled for Tuesday.

NFL Network's Ian Rapoport reports there could be a "postponement" because Gregory was not able to acquire an agent before the hearing. If the appeal is heard this week, a decision likely will be handed down before the Cowboys open the playoffs in the Divisional Round, making Gregory questionable at best to participate. Perhaps the postponement will allow Gregory to play in Dallas' first playoff game.

Cowboys EVP Stephen Jones said DE Randy Gregory's suspension appeal will be held in 7-10 days.

With the Cowboys earning a first-round bye, the timetable means a decision could be handed down before Dallas hits the field again. Suspensions are rarely overturned, so Gregory likely needs the appeal decision to be delayed a couple weeks to see any playoff action. Gregory is facing an indefinite suspension for missing a drug test.

Drew Davison of the Fort Worth Star-Telegram wrote Jerry Jones "seemed unsure" if Randy Gregory will be eligible to play in the playoffs.

Gregory saw his first game action of the season on Monday night, but he is facing another suspension which is currently under appeal. That appeal is expected to be heard in January, so it is possible a ruling is reached before the Cowboys suit up in the Divisional Round. Gregory had two tackles in his debut.

Cowboys activated DE Randy Gregory from the reserve/suspended list.

Gregory is facing an indefinite suspension, but it's on appeal until January. The 2015 second-rounder will be sprinkled in lightly on Monday and in Week 17.

According to NFL Network's Ian Rapoport, Randy Gregory's suspension appeal won't be heard until January.

That means Gregory is free to play the last two games of the regular season and could even suit up for the playoffs depending on how slowly the appeal process moves. Gregory has yet to play this season while serving 10 and four-game suspensions for violating the league's substance abuse policy. If he loses his appeal, he'll be facing a season-long ban.

Jerry Jones said DE Randy Gregory "absolutely" will play the final two weeks of the season.

Gregory has been cleared to returned to practice while the appeal of his one-year suspension for missing a drug test is pending. Suspended the first 15 weeks of this year, it is doubtful Gregory is in good enough shape to play a significant role, but he could get in some rotational snaps. Despite David Irving's explosion Sunday night, Dallas certainly could use some pass-rushing help.

Jerry Jones said Cowboys DE Randy Gregory (suspended) has been cleared to practice this week.

"We’ve been notified that he can come to practice and play," Jones said. Gregory was originally expected to return to practice two weeks ago, but the league put a stop to his return. Gregory is facing another one-year ban for missing a drug test, but he is appealing that decision. It is unclear if this return means he has won that appeal. This is a fluid situation, but, for now, it looks like Gregory has a shot to play Monday night against the Lions.
Mon, Dec 19, 2016 10:22:00 AM

The NFL has told the Cowboys suspended DE Randy Gregory won't be allowed to return to practice on Wednesday.

Gregory's status is confusing, but he's apparently suspended through Week 15. It's unclear if a new ban will then kick in. What we do know is that Gregory probably won't be playing football any time soon.
