Ty Montgomery (ribs) is practicing in full for Week 7 against the Saints.
It's an indication that Montgomery made it through Sunday's game without any setbacks. Now splitting work with Aaron Jones, Montgomery finds himself on the RB2/3 borderline for Week 7 against New Orleans. Oct 18 - 5:51 PM

Ty Montgomery rushed 10 times for 28 yards and caught just 1-of-3 targets for three yards in the Packers' Week 6 loss to the Vikings.

Montgomery ended up missing just one game with his ribs injury. He got the start on Sunday, but he and Aaron Jones essentially rotated series, splitting touches 14-11 in Jones' favor. Jones also out-gained Montgomery 42-31. Neither back was really able to get moving with Brett Hundley not threatening the Vikings through the air. Montgomery also dropped a wide-open touchdown at the goal line. With Aaron Rodgers (collarbone) out indefinitely, the Packers may lean more on the run game, but Montgomery hasn't been providing much on the ground this year. He'll be an RB2/3 next week against the Saints in Green Bay.

Ty Montgomery (ribs) is active for Week 6 against the Vikings.

It's been reported Montgomery and rookie Aaron Jones will split the workload against Minnesota, but we'd guess it'll mostly be Jones on early downs with Montgomery mixing in on pass downs and two-minute drills. Montgomery is a borderline RB2/3 as a risky fantasy bet on the road against a good defense.

ESPN's Josina Anderson reports Ty Montgomery (questionable, ribs) will start against the Vikings in Week 6.

Per Anderson, he's expected to split backfield work with fifth-round rookie Aaron Jones, who impressed with 125 yards in last week's win over Dallas. Montgomery is likely to play with a flak jacket for extra protection after breaking "multiple" ribs in Week 4. With TyMont and Jones expected to work in a 50/50 timeshare, both are risky fantasy bets for Week 6.
Oct 15 - 9:59 AM

ESPN's Adam Schefter reports Ty Montgomery (ribs) is expected to play in Week 6 against the Vikings.

Per Schefter, Montgomery is "not expected to be limited going in," although what that exactly means is unclear as he deals with multiple rib fractures and Aaron Jones returns from a Week 5 breakout game. Montgomery is expected to wear protection on his still-hurting ribs, possibly a flak jacket. In season-long leagues, Montgomery would be an extremely high-risk flex option. Montgomery's return also lowers Jones' reliability, although if forced to choose between the two, Jones would be the superior fantasy bet.

RotoGrinders.com Daily Slant: With the Vikings holding opposing RBs to the 2nd-fewest PPR points, this timeshare looks unappealing. It may be better to look to the air. For example, Davante Adams’ matchup scores the 4th-highest rating in our WR/CB model as CB Trae Waynes has allowed the 7th-most yards (307, per PFF) and posted the 2nd-worst cover snaps per reception rate (6.9).

Ty Montgomery (ribs) is questionable for Week 6 against the Vikings.

Montgomery practiced fully all week, but wasn't tackled and had only limited contact. It sounds like he could come down to a game-time decision. Even if Montgomery plays, he'll have a heavy flak jacket and figures to be on a snap count. Aaron Jones is the favorite to start and lead the Packers in carries.
Oct 13 - 3:22 PM

According to ESPN's Rob Demovsky, the Packers will "probably" limit Ty Montgomery's (ribs) snaps if he plays against the Vikings in Week 6.

He's practiced fully this week with the use of a flak jacket, though the Packers have yet to determine his status for Week 6. Montgomery hasn't been tackled to the ground in any of his practice sessions, though he did take some contact on Thursday and reported feeling "comfortable" afterwards. With Montgomery banged up and Aaron Jones coming off a terrific game against the Cowboys in Week 5, TyMont will be a risky fantasy play if he gets the green light for Sunday.

Oct 13 - 1:18 PM

Ty Montgomery (ribs) said he "felt fine" after taking hits in Thursday's practice.

Montgomery said he felt comfortable practicing in a flak jacket. He was officially listed as "full." He now seems on track to return against the Vikings. The question will not only be his health, but his role. Montgomery has struggled on early downs this season, and rookie Aaron Jones was extremely impressive in Week 5. Even were Montgomery to play, it's possible Jones is given the lead between the tackles.
Oct 12 - 3:58 PM

Packers coach Mike McCarthy said Ty Montgomery (ribs) is expected to practice Thursday.

McCarthy said Montgomery "did some good things" during Wednesday's practice and they want to "see how he progresses." Because Thursday is usually Green Bay's full-pad practice, what he is able to do today could go a long way to determining his availability on Sunday. Even if Montgomery is able to play, Aaron Jones is expected to retain an early-down role.
Oct 12 - 11:41 AM

Packers coach Mike McCarthy said he's not sure of Ty Montgomery's (ribs) Week 6 status.

Montgomery practiced without limits on Wednesday, but the Packers don't move to full-pads until Thursday. His availability remains up in the air coming off multiple rib fractures. Even if Montgomery plays, his snaps may be limited to avoid setbacks.

Oct 11 - 7:35 PM

ESPN's Jason Wilde reports Ty Montgomery (ribs) isn't guaranteed to return this week.

Montgomery practiced in full Wednesday, but is still only one-plus week removed from multiple rib fractures. It's possible the Packers hold him out to avoid a setback. With Aaron Jones looking like Green Bay's starter, Montgomery could be on a limited snap count if he plays.
Oct 11 - 5:54 PM

Ty Montgomery (ribs) practiced full on Wednesday.

It's a good start, but the Packers don't practice in full-pads until Thursday. Montgomery's role is up in the air after Aaron Jones put on a show against Dallas last week. It won't be surprising if the Packers limit Montgomery's snaps in his first game back. Montgomery (3.3 YPC) struggled over the first month and is best suited for passing/third-down work.
Oct 11 - 4:56 PM

Ty Montgomery (ribs) is inactive for Week 5 against the Cowboys.

This was the expectation after he was listed as doubtful on the final report, and it is possible he could miss multiple weeks. Aaron Jones has reportedly been working with the first-team in practice, but Jamaal Williams should get opportunities as well. This looks like a situation to avoid if possible. Green Bay also declared LT David Bakhtiari (hamstring), LB Joe Thomas (ankle), CB Lenzy Pipkins, OG Adam Pankey, DT Montravius Adams, and LB Chris Odom inactive for Week 5.
Oct 8 - 2:56 PM

SiriusXM Sports Medical Analyst David Chao expects Ty Montgomery (ribs) to miss multiple weeks.

Montgomery is listed as doubtful for Sunday, and isn't a lock to be back next week. According to Sports Injury Predictor, the average player with broken ribs misses at least two games. Working in Montgomery's favor is the fact he was injured last Thursday night -- giving him extra time to get cleared. The Packers will go with Aaron Jones and Jamaal Williams in Montgomery's place.
Oct 6 - 8:19 PM

Ty Montgomery (ribs) is listed as doubtful for Week 5 against Dallas.

There was some early speculation Montgomery could play through two broken ribs, but he's going to miss at least one week. Jamaal Williams has been removed from the injury report and won't miss any time with his knee sprain. The Packers figure to go with a committee to replace Montgomery, though Aaron Jones is the better bet for carries after a strong showing last week. The Cowboys are coming off a 200-plus total yard game to Todd Gurley in Week 4.
