Eli Manning said Sterling Shepard is "primed for a big year."
Injuries limited Shepard in what should have been a big 2017, but he came back strong this offseason. "I thought Sterling had a great camp during the spring," Manning said. "I think he's primed for a big year." Targets will be a concern with Odell Beckham back healthy, Saquon Barkley in the backfield, and Evan Engram continuing to develop, but Shepard is still worth a look at his double-digit ADP. Sterling Shepard has seen "significantly more" snaps on the outside during the offseason program.

According to PFF, Shepard ran 86.1 percent of his routes out of the slot in 2016 and 83.8 percent last season, but it sounds like his usage will change under new coach Pat Shurmur. "I’ve been doing a lot on the outside," Shepard said. "I feel like I’ve proven that I can play outside and just try to handle my business. I know that I can play outside, and we will soon see." Shepard has the talent to succeed no matter where he lines up, and he is locked-in as the No. 2 receiver behind Odell Beckham. That is enough to give him some appeal in the double-digit rounds.

Sterling Shepard (neck) is inactive for Week 17 against the Redskins.

Shepard should have taken over as the Giants' No. 1 receiver after both Odell Beckham and Brandon Marshall were lost for the season in Week 5, but he suffered an ankle injury of his own that week which cost him two games, lost another two to a migraine issue, and sat out the season finale because of a neck injury. Shepard did have a few big games including an 11/139/1 performance against the Eagles in Week 15, but his 59/731/2 season total is disappointing considering the opportunity he was gifted. With Marshall unlikely to return, Shepard should serve as the No. 2 receiver in what will hopefully be an improved offense next season.

Sterling Shepard (neck) is out for Week 17 against the Redskins.

Evan Engram (ribs) and Tavarres King (concussion) are also out. It leaves Roger Lewis, Travis Rudolph, Hunter Sharp, and Rhett Ellison as Eli Manning's main weapons. Shepard missed five games this season and finishes his sophomore campaign with a 59-731-2 line after scoring eight times as a rookie.

Sterling Shepard (neck) did not practice Thursday.

Shepard also sat out Wednesday after picking up a neck injury late in the Week 16 loss. With Evan Engram and Tavarres King also questionable, the Giants could have an extremely thin pass-catching corps in the season finale.

Sterling Shepard (neck) did not practice Wednesday.

Shepard and Evan Engram (ribs) are both banged up coming out of Week 16. Neither practiced Wednesday. The Giants are an offense to avoid Week 17.

Sterling Shepard suffered a neck injury in Week 16 against Arizona.

Shepard went down late in the fourth quarter and didn't return. It's a concerning injury with Shepard's history of migraines. It would be surprising if the Giants didn't shut him down for the season.

Sterling Shepard caught 11-of-16 targets for 139 yards and a touchdown in the Giants' Week 15 loss to the Eagles.

Shepard has battled ankle, hamstring, and migraine problems throughout the season, and so it was fair to wonder about his health after he drew just three targets in last week's loss to the Cowboys despite playing almost all of the Giants' offensive snaps. Shepard put those fears to bed in a dominant effort, torching the Eagles' secondary for a 5/99/1 receiving line in the first quarter alone. Shepard will be an upside WR2 play when the Giants visit Arizona in Week 16. The Cardinals struggle badly versus slot receivers.

Sterling Shepard (hamstring) wasn't listed on the Giants' final injury report for Week 15 against the Eagles.

He's been limited the past two practices but it won't affect his status for Week 15. Shepard had one of his better games against the Eagles back in Week 3 (7-133-1), but we're not expecting a repeat performance. Consider him a back-end WR3.

Sterling Shepard (hamstring) was limited at Thursday's practice.

He played through his hamstring injury last week and figures to do the same Sunday against the Eagles. Shepard has had a quiet last couple of games and hasn't scored a touchdown since Week 3. He'll be just a WR3/4 for Week 15.

Sterling Shepard was held to two catches for 16 yards on three targets Sunday in the Giants’ Week 14 loss to the Cowboys.

He also lost nine yards on his only carry. It was a disastrous outing for Shepard, who was out-gained by Rhett Ellison and Shane Vereen among others. Miscues plagued the Giants’ receiving corps all day and Shepard was no help in that regard, committing an ugly drop in the fourth quarter when the game was still within reach. Shepard’s three targets were his fewest since Week 5. He’s been quiet since coming back from an ankle injury, managing just five catches for 72 yards over his last two contests. He’ll be in the WR3 discussion next week at Arizona.

Sterling Shepard (hamstring) is active for Week 14 against the Cowboys.

There were conflicting reports on Shepard's status this morning, but obviously he showed enough in warmups to gain clearance from the Giants' medical staff. Top pass rusher Jason Pierre-Paul (finger) will also play Sunday. CB Eli Apple, LB B.J. Goodson, WR Tavarres King, OL Justin Pugh, WR Travis Rudolph, DT Khyri Thornton and QB Davis Webb round out the Giants' inactives for Week 14.

ESPN's Dan Graziano "gets the sense" that Sterling Shepard (questionable, hamstring) will be "good to go" for Week 14 against the Cowboys.

This conflicts with an NFL.com report that Shepard was likely to sit out. Ultimately, Shepard's status will be determined by how he looks during pregame warmups. Shepard will be a volume-based WR2 if he plays this week. Evan Engram is a must-start regardless, though his upside will be even higher if Shepard can't get the green light.

NFL.com reports Sterling Shepard (hamstring, questionable) is not expected to play Week 14 against the Cowboys.

This is a surprise after he got in limited work on Thursday and Friday. If he does not suit up, it will be a big blow to Eli Manning's streaming candidacy. Evan Engram was a must-start to begin with, but this makes him even more appealing.

Sterling Shepard (hamstring) is questionable for Week 14 against the Cowboys.

Shepard should be all right after getting in limited sessions on Thursday and Friday. He's in a good spot against Dallas and should benefit from the return of Eli Manning. Consider Shepard a WR2 this week.
