Jacoby Brissett is in the concussion protocol, and is week to week.
Brissett was evaluated for a concussion after a hit to the head on a second half slide, but was for some reason cleared to return. He was then immediately placed in the protocol after the game. The league still cannot get it right on head injuries. Brissett has two weeks to heal up, as the Colts are on bye for Week 11. They return against the Titans. Scott Tolzien would be the next man up if Brissett can't go. Nov 12 - 5:12 PM

Jacoby Brissett completed 14-of-24 passes for 222 yards, two touchdowns and an interception in the Colts' 20-17, Week 10 loss to the Steelers.

Brissett's day was sparked by a pair of 60-plus touchdowns in the first half, though he cooled off considerably after the break. He took three sacks and many more hits, at one point meriting a concussion evaluation. Thankfully, he was cleared. Brissett used an excellent pump fake to free Donte Moncrief past Artie Burns on score No. 1, while Chester Rogers did most of the work on score No. 2. His "interception" was batted up into the air by Jack Doyle. Always an upside streamer because of his rushing ability, Brissett will be a nice QB2 when the Colts come off their bye in Week 12 against the Titans.
Nov 12 - 5:00 PM

Jacoby Brissett completed 20-of-30 passes for 308 yards and two touchdowns in the Colts' 20-14, Week 9 win over the Texans.

Brissett added two rushes for 12 yards. Brissett found T.Y. Hilton for 125 yards in scores, giving the Colts the big-play edge in what turned into a tight contest late. He did hold onto the ball for far too long against a six-man rush in the second quarter, committing a 34-yard fumble six that helped keep the Texans in the game. The 300-yard passing effort was Brissett's second of the season. A legit streamer when the matchup is right, Brissett has a daunting Week 10 assignment in the Steelers' elite defense.
Nov 5 - 4:54 PM

Jacoby Brissett completed 25-of-39 passes for 233 yards with two touchdowns and one interception while adding one rush for six yards Sunday in the Colts’ Week 8 loss to the Bengals.

He absorbed four sacks for a loss of 17 yards. Brissett couldn’t get anything going with T.Y. Hilton or really any of his receivers other than Jack Doyle, who enjoyed a career-best day with 12 catches for 121 yards and a touchdown on 14 targets. He also had success throwing screens to his running backs, including a 24-yard touchdown to Marlon Mack in the third quarter. The ultra-conservative Brissett didn’t make many mistakes, though his fourth-quarter pick-six on a ball deflected and caught by Carlos Dunlap ended up being a backbreaker. With Andrew Luck looking doubtful to return in 2017, Brissett will draw another start next week against the Texans.
Oct 29 - 6:00 PM

Jacoby Brissett is listed on the Week 8 injury report with a throwing thumb issue, but is practicing in full.

It's hard to see how a throwing thumb issue wouldn't be an issue for a quarterback, but apparently it's not for Brissett. He has low-end QB2 appeal against the Bengals.
Oct 26 - 3:30 PM

Jacoby Brissett completed 22-of-37 passes for 200 yards in Week 7 against Jacksonville.

He added five rushes for 31 yards. Brissett didn't lead the Colts to any scoring drives, though there wasn't much help from his supporting cast. He was under pressure all game, taking 10 sacks. Indy was completely outmatched and continued to fall out of the AFC South race. Brissett won't be a streaming option in Week 8 against the Bengals.
Oct 22 - 4:06 PM

Jacoby Brissett completed 21-of-37 passes for 212 yards and one touchdown in the Colts' Week 6 loss to the Titans on Monday night.

He added 15 yards on five rushes. Brissett came out guns blazing in the first half, going into halftime completing 12-of-19 balls for 119 yards and the score to Jack Doyle. He should have had a second touchdown to Donte Moncrief from 18 yards away, but Moncrief committed a horrid drop in the end zone on a perfect pass. After the half, Brissett was downright dreadful, going 9-of-18 for 93 yards, and the Colts again blew a second-half lead. Andrew Luck (shoulder) is nearing a return, but is likely at least another week away. Brissett won't be a fantasy option next week on the road in Jacksonville.
Oct 17 - 12:00 AM

Jacoby Brissett is listed on the Week 6 injury report with a left wrist issue, but practicing in full.

It's the first we've heard of it, though Brissett is in zero danger of missing Monday's game against the Titans. He offers streamer appeal against the Titans' awful pass defense.
Oct 12 - 7:43 PM

Jacoby Brissett completed 22-of-34 passes for 314 yards, no touchdowns, and one interceptions in the Colts' Week 5 win over the 49ers.

He added 14 yards and one touchdown on eight scrambles. It was a solid, if not spectacular, day for Brissett against one of the league's worst defenses. Brissett could have had a bigger day, but T.Y. Hilton dropped what should have been a long gain and was unable to reel in a short touchdown later. The two still hooked up seven times for 177 yards. Brissett almost lost the game with a horrific end-zone interception in overtime, but the Niners did nothing with it. Brissett should get at least one more start next Monday night at the Titans.
Oct 8 - 5:17 PM

Jacoby Brissett completed 16-of-29 passes for 157 yards, one touchdown and an interception in Week 4 against Seattle.

It was a mixed game from Brissett, who threw a pick six and lost a fumble that was returned for a touchdown. He played good outside his turnovers, with his touchdown coming on a back shoulder fade to Donte Moncrief at the end of the first half. Brissett suffered an injury late, but shouldn't miss any time. He'll make at least one more start before Andrew Luck returns.
Oct 1 - 11:57 PM

Jacoby Brissett completed 17-of-24 passes for 259 yards and a touchdown while rushing for 14 yards and two touchdowns Week 3 against the Browns.

It was only the fourth start of Brissett's career, but by far his best performance. Brissett had a 5-yard touchdown run in the opening quarter and added a 7-yard run for a score in the second before hooking up with T.Y. Hilton on a 61-yard catch and run for his first career touchdown pass. Brissett has had the Colts formidable at home the past two weeks, but will face a much tougher task on the road in Seattle.
Sep 24 - 5:15 PM

Jacoby Brissett completed 20-of-37 passes for 216 yards and an interception in the Colts' Week 2 loss to the Cardinals.

He added six scrambles for 22 yards. For a player who's been on the 53-man roster for just over two weeks, Brissett did handle himself well. He showed poise in the pocket, has a strong arm, and is a plus athlete, but the Colts' offense is a major problem at almost all positions. Even against the lowly Browns, Brissett will be a low-end two-quarterback-league option in Week 3.
Sep 17 - 4:41 PM

NFL Network's Ian Rapoport reports the Colts are planning to start QB Jacoby Brissett against the Cardinals in Week 2.

This isn't really a surprise after Scott Tolzien stunk up the joint Week 1 against the Rams and was benched in the third quarter. While Brissett is an upgrade, it's not a significant one for the pass offense. He averaged just 154 passing yards per game in two starts for the Patriots as a rookie and surely doesn't entirely know the offense in Indy after being acquired just two weeks ago. However, he could open up running lanes due to his dual-threat ability.
Sep 15 - 10:47 AM

Speaking Wednesday, Colts coach Chuck Pagano declined to name a starting quarterback for Week 2 against the Cardinals.

Jacoby Brissett and Scott Tolzien will split first-team practice reps until Pagano decides on a starter. Andrew Luck didn't practice Wednesday and has already been ruled out for Week 2. No matter who starts under center for the Colts, T.Y. Hilton and Donte Moncrief need to be severely downgraded.
Sep 13 - 12:28 PM

The Indy Star's Zak Keefer reports the Colts are "considering" making Jacoby Brissett their starter for Week 2.

We are not sure what there is to consider. Scott Tolzien was a dumpster fire against the Rams, and while Brissett has been with the team for less than two weeks, it makes sense to see what he can do. That said, the reality is this offense will at best be stuck in neutral until Andrew Luck is ready to go.
