Jacoby Brissett completed 20-of-37 passes for 216 yards and an interception in the Colts' Week 2 loss to the Cardinals.
He added six scrambles for 22 yards. For a player who's been on the 53-man roster for just over two weeks, Brissett did handle himself well. He showed poise in the pocket, has a strong arm, and is a plus athlete, but the Colts' offense is a major problem at almost all positions. Even against the lowly Browns, Brissett will be a low-end two-quarterback-league option in Week 3. Sep 17 - 4:41 PM

NFL Network's Ian Rapoport reports the Colts are planning to start QB Jacoby Brissett against the Cardinals in Week 2.

This isn't really a surprise after Scott Tolzien stunk up the joint Week 1 against the Rams and was benched in the third quarter. While Brissett is an upgrade, it's not a significant one for the pass offense. He averaged just 154 passing yards per game in two starts for the Patriots as a rookie and surely doesn't entirely know the offense in Indy after being acquired just two weeks ago. However, he could open up running lanes due to his dual-threat ability.

Speaking Wednesday, Colts coach Chuck Pagano declined to name a starting quarterback for Week 2 against the Cardinals.

Jacoby Brissett and Scott Tolzien will split first-team practice reps until Pagano decides on a starter. Andrew Luck didn't practice Wednesday and has already been ruled out for Week 2. No matter who starts under center for the Colts, T.Y. Hilton and Donte Moncrief need to be severely downgraded.

The Indy Star's Zak Keefer reports the Colts are "considering" making Jacoby Brissett their starter for Week 2.

We are not sure what there is to consider. Scott Tolzien was a dumpster fire against the Rams, and while Brissett has been with the team for less than two weeks, it makes sense to see what he can do. That said, the reality is this offense will at best be stuck in neutral until Andrew Luck is ready to go.
Sep 12 - 9:05 AM

Colts acquired QB Jacoby Brissett from the Patriots in exchange for WR Phillip Dorsett.

Brissett lit up the Giants in the final preseason game, completing 28-of-39 passes for 341 yards and five total touchdowns. That was apparently enough to convince Indy he is a better option than Scott Tolzien, but there is almost no chance Brissett is ready to start Week 1. This move suggests the Colts think Andrew Luck could miss a significant chunk of the season. It also hints the Patriots plan to keep Jimmy Garoppolo after this season.
Sep 2 - 1:55 PM

The Boston Herald's Jeff Howe reports the idea that second-year QB Jacoby Brissett's roster spot is in question has "gained enough traction" in recent weeks.

Some that cover the team have left Brissett off 53-man roster projections, while Howe believes it's "probable" Brissett will end up being safe at final cuts. However, it's clear Brissett is one of the final few at the bottom of the roster and could be sent packing if New England needs to cover ground elsewhere, particularly on special teams. Brissett was a third-round pick last year. He'd surely draw interest if cut if for no other reason than his Patriots connections.
Aug 30 - 3:56 PM

The Patriots are expected to keep three quarterbacks on their 53-man roster.

Jacoby Brissett is considered a lock to make the team. Brissett started two games last season as a third-round rookie and completed 61.8 percent of his passes with 7.3 yards per attempt. He didn't throw a touchdown or interception, but scored once as a rusher. If Jimmy Garoppolo leaves as a free agent next year, Brissett could take over as Tom Brady's No. 2.

Patriots activated Jacoby Brissett (thumb) from injured reserve.

The Pats made roster space for Brissett by cutting DL Woodrow Hamilton. Brissett was on the shelf for two months while recovering from thumb surgery. He'll serve as New England's third-string quarterback behind Tom Brady and Jimmy Garoppolo.

Jacoby Brissett (thumb) is expected to be activated from injured reserve on Friday.

Brissett resumed practicing a couple weeks ago. He'll serve as New England's third-string quarterback behind Tom Brady and Jimmy Garoppolo. The third-round rookie made two starts during Brady's Deflategate suspension earlier this year.

Patriots placed QB Jacoby Brissett (thumb surgery) on injured reserve.

The Patriots kept Brissett off I.R. because they had to start him in last week's loss to Buffalo. He underwent surgery on Friday and will now be stashed on injured reserve for the remainder of the season. Brissett couldn't get the offense moving against the Bills, but he showed promise in preseason games and in his first start against the Texans. He should get a ton of run in the 2016 preseason and is a promising long-term prospect for New England.

Jacoby Brissett will undergo thumb surgery on Friday.

It's unclear how long he'll be sidelined but hopefully the Patriots won't need him now that Tom Brady is back from his four-game Deflategate suspension. Considering that Brissett was never expected to see the field this year, he did an admirable job in relief of Jimmy Garoppolo, completing 61.8 percent of his passes for 400 yards with no touchdowns or interceptions.

Jacoby Brissett completed 17-of-27 passes for 205 yards and rushed four times for 23 yards in the Patriots' Week 4 loss to the Bills.

He also absorbed three sacks. Two notable plays that stood out were a red-zone fumble on a scramble by Brissett which was popped loose by Bills ILB Zach Brown and a dropped touchdown pass on a wheel route by Brandon Bolden. The Patriots lost this game 16-0, generating next to nothing on offense. They'll welcome back Tom Brady with open arms for Week 5 against the Browns.

NFL Network's Ian Rapoport reports Jacoby Brissett may undergo a "procedure" on his thumb when Tom Brady returns from his suspension.

Brissett will draw the start in Week 4, but his sprained thumb is still ailing him and might require surgery. With Brissett under center, the Patriots should give LeGarrette Blount as many carries as he can handle Sunday against Buffalo.

ESPN's Adam Schefter reports Jacoby Brissett will start Week 4 against the Bills.

Jimmy Garoppolo was expected to have his shoulder "evaluated" Sunday morning. That evaluation apparently did not go well, and Garoppolo will be inactive against Buffalo. The Patriots are likely to be very conservative with Brissett under center. That is great news for LeGarrette Blount, but Julian Edelman and Rob Gronkowski are much riskier plays. Edelman will serve as the emergency quarterback.

Jacoby Brissett (thumb) is listed as questionable for Week 4.

Brissett will be available for Sunday's game against the Bills. He will start if Jimmy Garoppolo (shoulder) can't play, and back up Garoppolo if Garoppolo is healthy enough to start. We won't know for sure until Sunday morning.
