Vikings agreed to terms with QB Patrick Ramsey, formerly of the Dolphins.
It's the strongest indication yet that the Vikings are preparing to be without both Tarvaris Jackson (toe) and Brett Favre (body). Ramsey, 31, will attempt to learn Darrell Bevell's offense on the fly this week, preparing to back up rookie Joe Webb against the Bears on Monday Night Football. We may not know the Vikings' starter for sure until just before game time. Wed, Dec 15, 2010 04:51:00 PM

The player rep for Patrick Ramsey confirmed the Vikings have contacted the free agent about a workout this week.

Neither Tarvaris Jackson nor Brett Favre will practice Thursday, and there's a chance that both will miss Monday's game. Joe Webb will handle first-team reps in practice, but the Vikes may end up needing a journeyman to step in as the backup.

Dolphins waived QB Patrick Ramsey.

Ramsey was signed for depth two weeks ago when Chad Pennington and Chad Henne both went down with injuries. With Henne now healthy, the Dolphins will go forward with just two QBs.

Dolphins signed QB Patrick Ramsey, formerly of the Jaguars.

Ramsey, 31, was apparently the most impressive during a Monday QB tryout that also included JaMarcus Russell, J.T. O'Sullivan, Tom Brandstater, and Tommy Grady. Ramsey could be Tyler Thigpen's primary backup for Thursday night's game against the Bears, depending on the health of Chad Henne.

The Dolphins will host free agent QB Patrick Ramsey on Monday.

According to ESPN's Chris Mortensen, the team "hopes to sign him" after the workout. The Dolphins are expected to add two quarterbacks this week. JaMarcus Russell, Chris Simms, and Tom Brandstater are also on their radar.

Jaguars released QB Patrick Ramsey.

David Garrard (concussion) and Trent Edwards (thumb) are both practicing fully again. Week 7 starter Todd Bouman survives as the No. 3 QB for now.

Jaguars signed QB Patrick Ramsey.

They're also expected to bring back Todd Bouman, though that paperwork has not yet been completed. Ramsey will serve as insurance for the injured David Garrard and Trent Edwards. Garrard is likely to miss Week 7, but Edwards will probably be OK and should start.

The Seahawks are expected to pursue free agent Patrick Ramsey, released by the Saints on Friday.

Ramsey would apparently take J.P. Losman's spot on the depth chart as the veteran backup paired with Charlie Whitehurst.

Saints released QB Patrick Ramsey.

Ramsey, 31, has proved over and over that he cannot play in the league, so it's not surprising that he was beat out by Chase Daniel. Daniel lacks ideal physical tools, but operates the offense more smoothly and simply appears more sure of himself on the field. He's worth a look in Dynasty leagues.

Newly signed Patrick Ramsey appears to have already passed Chase Daniel to be the Saints' No. 2 quarterback.

Ramsey ran the second-team offense Thursday, and Daniel quarterbacked the third string. Also gleaned from a Thursday practice report: David Thomas is currently the No. 2 tight end. Rookie Jimmy Graham is running as No. 3.

Saints signed QB Patrick Ramsey, formerly of the Lions.

Ramsey, 31, is the career holder of a 10-14 record, 35:30 TD-to-INT ratio, and 56-percent completion percentage. Expected to beat out Chase Daniel for New Orleans' primary backup job, Ramsey will be on the radar in two-QB leagues if Drew Brees goes hurt. Just don't expect much in standard settings.

The Saints are prepared to add free agent QB Patrick Ramsey this week.

The Saints have simply been waiting for the restrictions on their free agent signings to be lifted to make this official. They have chosen Ramsey over Mark Brunell, who will sign with the Jets this week. Ramsey, who was out of football for almost all of 2009, will battle Chase Daniel for the backup gig.

Saints beat reporter Brian Allee-Walsh confirms that the team is expected to sign free agent Patrick Ramsey before training camp.

The New Orleans Times-Picayune hinted as much in a Sunday afternoon column. The move would likely leave rookie Sean Canfield to battle Chase Daniel for the third quarterback spot. Ramsey signed with the UFL's Omaha Nighthawks at the start of the month, but isn't obligated to honor the deal.

Adding to a previous item, ESPN's Chris Mortensen says you can "basically bank on" Patrick Ramsey joining the Saints in mid-July.

The Saints prefer Ramsey, who was out of football for most of last season, to last year's backup Mark Brunell. Ramsey will battle Chase Daniel for the backup gig behind Drew Brees.

The New Orleans Times-Picayune predicts that the Saints will add free agent Patrick Ramsey before the start of training camp.

The Times-Picayune has apparently heard that Sean Payton prefers Ramsey -- a local product from Tulane -- to fellow free agent Josh McCown. Beat writer Jeff Duncan still believes Chase Daniel, currently running the second-team offense, has a chance to win the primary backup job behind Drew Brees.
