Seahawks agreed to terms with DT Kevin Williams, formerly of the Vikings, on a one-year contract.
According to ESPN's Ed Werder, the deal is worth "in excess" of $2 million. Williams pondered retirement, but ultimately found the amount of money he was willing to play for after three months on the open market. Going on 34, Williams remained a productive player in 2014, particularly against the run. He further fortifies what was already one of the league's stoutest defensive lines. It's typically rare to say for the previous year's No. 1 defense, but we'd be surprised if Seattle experienced much drop off -- or any at all -- from last season's virtually impenetrable unit. Williams has visited the Giants, Seahawks, and Patriots since the start of free agency. The soon-to-be 34-year-old has pondered retirement, but admits he wants to continue his career. He hopes to have a deal before training camp. The Vikings could use some depth behind Linval Joseph and company.

Free agent DT Kevin Williams is visiting with the Patriots Thursday.

33-year-old Williams has been mulling retirement, but is open to returning for a contract worth more than the veteran minimum. The Patriots are the first team Williams has visited since meeting with the Seahawks and Giants in April. Williams was a productive player in 2013, grading out as a top-30 defensive tackle by Pro Football Focus. He doesn't turn 34 until August.

Free agent DT Kevin Williams is "still weighing (his) options."

Williams said last month that he was open to retirement, but it appears he still wants to play. "Hopefully, I’ll be on somebody’s team in August and go from there," Williams said. Although he's going on 34, Williams remained a productive player in 2013. It's financial considerations keeping him on the open market.

Free agent DT Kevin Williams says he'll consider retirement if his financial demands are not met.

"If it's not worth the risk of going back out there, I can't say I'll do it," he said. "I don't see (taking a low-value deal) at this point, but you never know. ... I'm not one of those guys that's afraid to go home." Williams visited the Seahawks on Monday, but says "nothing was decided." Williams visited the Giants earlier in April. Going on 34, Williams has been in the league for 11 seasons.
May 1 - 6:49 PM

Free agent DT Kevin Williams worked out for the Seahawks on Monday.

It's Williams' second visit of free agency; he previously met with the Giants two weeks ago. The soon-to-be 34-year-old would slot in behind Brandon Mebane and Tony McDaniel in Seattle and compete for snaps with Jordan Hill.

Free agent DT Kevin Williams has left his Giants visit without a contract.

"Had a good visit and gonna see what happens," Williams said. Going on 34, the G-Men were Williams' first visit. The fact that he's leaving the Big Apple without a deal is an indication his price needs to come down.

Free agent DT Kevin Williams is visiting the Giants.

Williams flew into New York on Monday night and had dinner with the Giants' defensive line coach. He'll continue his visit, his first of free agency, on Tuesday. Williams spent the first 11 seasons of his career with the Vikings and was once considered one of the top three-techniques in the game. Our top free-agent defensive tackle left, Williams would give the G-Men another veteran presence.
Apr 15 - 9:08 AM

Free agent DT Kevin Williams says he's had "several teams" call but has yet to receive any offers.

Williams, 34 in August, would like to finish his career in Minnesota, but the sides haven't talked since last week. With Linval Joseph, Sharrif Floyd, and Fred Evans at defensive tackle for the Vikings, there might not be much room for Williams. The former first-round pick is our top remaining free-agent defensive tackle.

The Vikings haven't ruled out re-signing free agent DT Kevin Williams.

Williams has spent his entire 11-year career in Minnesota and could be brought back to start alongside Linval Joseph. It suggests that the Vikings don't see Sharif Floyd as more than a rotational player at this point. Minnesota also visited with Henry Melton this week, but he left without a deal. Williams, 33, is Rotoworld's No. 2 remaining free-agent defensive tackle.
Mar 14 - 6:20 PM

ESPN Vikings reporter Ben Goessling predicts free agent DT Kevin Williams will play elsewhere in 2014.

Williams, 33, has spent his entire 11-year career in Minnesota since being the ninth overall pick in the 2003 draft. However, he'll likely look to sign with a contender, while the Vikings will aim to get younger. We don't see Williams landing more than a one-year deal. He's our No. 9 free-agent defensive tackle.

Impending free agent DT Kevin Williams wants to re-sign with the Vikings.

"I'd like to play a couple more years (with Minnesota), but that's totally up to the Vikings," Williams said. He also really wants to play for new coach Mike Zimmer. Williams will be 33 before the start of next season and likely will have to settle for a one- or two-year deal with minimal guaranteed money. He's started at least 14 games in each of his 11 seasons. The Vikings have Sharrif Floyd waiting in the wings at the three-technique defensive tackle spot.
