Minnesota will travel to Green Bay in Week 17 to face the Packers, who have turned the ball over six times in the last two weeks.
The Packers' offense also failed to top 300 total yards in either of those games, and their offensive struggles continue as the postseason approaches. Green Bay QB Aaron Rodgers has not thrown for 300 yards since Week 10, and Minnesota, who is +5 in turnover ratio in the last two weeks, will look to continue Green Bay's offensive struggles. Minnesota is a borderline top-12 fantasy option this week. Thu, Dec 31, 2015 12:00:00 AM

Minnesota may get a key defensive piece back in Week 15, as NT Linval Joseph (foot) has been labeled "questionable" for the Vikings' game against Chicago.

The Vikings have been crushed by injuries on the defensive side of the ball and will still be without LB Anthony Barr (groin) and FS Harrison Smith (knee) this week. The return of Joseph would help boost the Minnesota defensive front that has been beaten routinely by opposing rushers in recent weeks. The Vikings D/ST won't be a viable fantasy option in Week 15.

The Minnesota defense will be missing key pieces in all levels of their defense on Thursday night when they travel to Arizona.

The Vikings will be missing LB Anthony Barr (groin), FS Harrison Smith (hamstring), SS Andrew Sendejo (knee), and NT Linval Joseph (foot). This banged-up group allowed 38 points and 433 yards of total offense in Week 13 against Seattle and faces another quality offense this week in Arizona. "This is the NFL. Guys get banged up all the time," coach Mike Zimmer said. "We're not the only team that has guys hurt. So we line up and go play." The Vikings D/ST won't be a viable fantasy option in Week 14 while missing this many pieces.

The Minnesota Vikings host the Seattle Seahawks in Week 13, who have averaged 429.0 total yards of offense in their last three games

The Vikings will be a decent Week 13 fantasy option at home against Seattle, as Minnesota has allowed more than 20 points in just two of 11 games this season. With a Vegas over/under of only 42 points, this figures to be a lower-scoring affair after Seattle was involved in a 39-30 shootout with Pittsburgh in Week 12.

The Minnesota Vikings will face Atlanta in Week 12 with the Falcons starting backup running back Tevin Coleman.

The dynamic Devonta Freeman (concussion) has been ruled out for Sunday's game in Atlanta, leaving Coleman to handle the rushing duties for coach Dan Quinn's offense. Coleman ran for 48 yards on 17 carries after Freeman's departure in Week 11, and should be receive plenty of work behind Matt Ryan this week. The Vikings D/ST is just outside the top-12 fantasy options for Week 12 as they travel to Atlanta to face the NFL's fourth-best offense in terms of total yardage.

The Green Bay Packers will face a healthy Vikings team when they travel to Minnesota in Week 11.

"Twelve players were on Friday’s injury report, but 10 had full practice participation and are probable," noted the Minneapolis Star-Tribune. The 7-2 Vikings are second among NFL teams in scoring defense, allowing just 17.1 points per game, and have allowed more than 20 points in a single game just one time this season. The Vikings D/ST is a borderline top-12 option this week at home.

The Minnesota Vikings are getting healthy on the defensive side of the ball, expecting numerous defensive players back this week from injury.

Minnesota coach Mike Zimmer told the Minneapolis Star-Tribune that the outlook is good for DT Sharrif Floyd (foot) and that he expects linebackers Anthony Barr (arm) and Eric Kendricks (ribs) to start Sunday. Minnesota's defense has been solid in 2015 and should get stronger as they get players back from injury. The Vikings D/ST is a back-end top-12 fantasy option at Oakland in Week 10.

The Minnesota Vikings will attempt to slow rookie running back Todd Gurley on Sunday when they host the St. Louis Rams.

The Minnesota defense, which allows 4.4 yards per carry to opposing rushers, will have its hands full with Gurley on Sunday. The St. Louis rookie has racked up at least 128 rushing yards in four consecutive games and will provide a challenge for the Vikings D/ST that has played well in recent weeks. Fantasy owners should consider the Vikings D/ST a back-end starting option in Week 9.

The Minnesota Vikings have given up just 81.2 rushing yards per game since Week 1.

This streak follows a brutal Week 1 performance where the Minnesota defense was trampled by San Francisco's Carlos Hyde. Although the Vikings D/ST has faced Detroit twice this season, the NFL's worst rushing team, the improvement since the season's opening week is encouraging. The Minnesota D/ST will be a low-end top-12 fantasy option this week at Chicago.

The Minnesota Vikings will be without DT Sharrif Floyd on Sunday as he deals with knee and ankle injuries.

Floyd had started the Vikings' first five games this season and played 64.9 percent of Minnesota's snaps on defense. Backup DT Tom Johnson will fill-in for Floyd as the Vikings travel to Detroit to face the non-existent rushing game of the Lions. The Minnesota D/ST has been solid in recent weeks and is a borderline top-12 fantasy option this week.

The Minnesota defense will face the Kansas City Chiefs on Sunday, who have allowed 22 sacks in five games.

The Vikings will look to take advantage of the Kansas City offensive line that has allowed five sacks per game over the last three weeks. Kansas City will also be rolling out a new running back committee after losing Jamaal Charles to a knee injury, which will be an interesting matchup for the Vikings, who are allowing 4.7 yards per carry to opposing rushers. The sack potential and suspect status of the Kansas City offense after losing its focal point makes the Minnesota D/ST a borderline top-12 Week 6 fantasy option.
Thu, Oct 15, 2015 06:28:00 PM

The Minnesota Vikings are allowing 4.7 yards per carry to opposing rushers, the fifth-worst mark in the NFL.

The Minnesota defense has had an up-and-down start to the 2015 season in terms of defending the run. San Francisco and Denver combined for 5.9 ypc against the Vikings, while DC George Edwards' group held San Diego and Detroit to a combined 2.9 ypc average. Stud running back Jamaal Charles and the Kansas City Chiefs are waiting for Minnesota after the Vikings enjoy their Week 5 bye, so the front-line defense of this defense will be tested once again.

Minnesota has allowed just 64 rushing yards per game over the last two weeks.

After a horrendous Week 1, when the Vikings gave up 230 rushing yards to the San Francisco 49ers, Minnesota stuffed the Detroit Lions and San Diego Chargers in consecutive weeks. Week 4 brings a matchup with the Denver Broncos, who are 31st among NFL offenses in rushing, averaging just 57 yards per game. Despite the potential for Minnesota to stifle the Broncos' running game, the Vikings D/ST will still be a middling Week 4 fantasy option on the road against Peyton Manning.
Sun, Oct 4, 2015 12:30:00 AM

The Minnesota Vikings will host the San Diego Chargers and quarterback Philip Rivers, who has completed 80.9 percent of his passes through two weeks.

Rivers completed 66.5 percent of his passes in 2014, which was the second most accurate campaign of his career. This season, Rivers has been utilizing the short passing game with Keenan Allen and Danny Woodhead, keeping his completion percentage at a higher clip. Despite the accuracy, Rivers does have three interceptions through two games but the Vikings won't be a recommended Week 3 fantasy option against the San Diego offense that is third in the NFL in offensive yardage.

The Minnesota defense was gouged for 230 rushing yards on Monday night in a 20-3 loss to San Francisco.

Running back Carlos Hyde did most of the damage, routinely ripping off chunks of yardage on his way to a 168 yard, two score evening on 26 carries. Minnesota now returns home to face the Detroit Lions and hopes to improve against running backs Joique Bell and Ameer Abdullah. Fantasy owners can leave the Minnesota D/ST safely on the waiver wire.
