Nathan Peterman was benched in the third quarter of Sunday's Week 1 game against Baltimore.
Peterman was a disaster in his third career start, leading the Bills to no scoring drives and zero first downs in the first half. He threw for just 24 yards before getting pulled. Peterman looked completely lost, throwing both of his interceptions directly to the Ravens and taking three sacks. Josh Allen replaced Peterman in the third quarter and should remain the starter going forward. Sep 9 - 3:14 PM

Bills named Nathan Peterman their Week 1 starter.

Peterman infamously threw five picks in the first half of his first start last year, but he has continuously impressed in camp and throughout the preseason. This decision was likely made in the second half of the Bills' third preseason game when Peterman fared far better than rookie Josh Allen, completing 16-of-21 passes for 200 yards and a touchdown. The Bills are slated with the hardest passing schedule through the first three weeks (at Ravens, Chargers, at Vikings), so Peterman will immediately be put through the wringer behind what is arguably the league's shoddiest pass-protection.

NFL Network's Ian Rapoport reports the Bills are "absolutely fine" starting Nathan Peterman.

Josh Allen had a rough go in the third preseason game, going 6-of-12 for 34 yards and leaving with a possible concussion. Peterman fared much better in the second half, completing 16-of-21 passes for 200 yards and a touchdown. Allen had been good prior to Sunday's game and is going to start at some point this season, but the Bills could sit him the first few weeks, especially with the offensive line looking like a disaster. If they do, Peterman is the next in line.
Aug 27 - 8:41 AM

Nathan Peterman completed 8-of-10 passes for 113 yards and a touchown in Buffalo's second preseason game.

Peterman did all of his damage against third-stringers. A.J. McCarron started, but Josh Allen stole the show again this week — leading the Bills to scoring drives on all three of his series. With McCarron sidelined, Buffalo's quarterback battle is down to Allen and Peterman. Allen is in line to start the third preseason game.

According to ESPN's Mike Rodak, Nathan Peterman is a "serious contender" for the Bills' starting quarterback job.

He impressed while rotating first-team reps with A.J. McCarron at Bills' minicamp, completing 10-of-13 passes with a touchdown during 11-on-11 drills at Tuesday's session. Peterman struggled mightily in his first start last year—he threw five picks against the Chargers before coming out at halftime—but has cleaned up his mechanics after spending the offseason training with QB guru Tom House. The Bills traded up to draft Josh Allen seventh overall in April, but he mostly worked with the third team during spring practices.

Nathan Peterman trained with QB guru Tom House in California this offseason.

A former MLB pitcher, House is a master of throwing mechanics and has worked with many of the game's top quarterbacks including Tom Brady, Drew Brees, Carson Palmer and Alex Smith. Peterman endured a dismal debut, throwing five interceptions in his first career start last season. He's slated to back up A.J. McCarron in 2018, though it's a near-certainty that Buffalo will select a quarterback early in next week's draft.

Bills QB Nathan Peterman has officially cleared the league's concussion protocol.

Peterman was expected to be cleared for Week 14 but ended up needing another week in the protocol. He will back up Tyrod Taylor, who played well in the Bills' win over the Dolphins.

Bills QB Nathan Peterman (concussion) was ruled out for Week 15.

Tyrod Taylor will get the start with Joe Webb backing him up.

Nathan Peterman (concussion) was upgraded to "full" on Thursday.

The rookie will be ready to back up Tyrod Taylor (knee) against the Dolphins. Considering how volatile the Bills' offense has been, both in terms of performance and injury, it's quite possible we see Peterman again some time over the season's final three weeks.

Nathan Peterman (concussion) is practicing Thursday.

He also got in limited work Wednesday. It looks like Peterman is on track to be cleared before Sunday, but Tyrod Taylor is also ready to return, sending Peterman back to the bench.

Bills QB Nathan Peterman is officially in the league's concussion protocol.

Peterman took a helmet shot in the third quarter of Sunday's Snow Bowl. Tyrod Taylor (knee) seems to be making progress, and is the favorite to be under center for the Bills in Week 15.

Nathan Peterman left Week 14 against the Colts with a possible concussion.

Peterman was taken to the locker room after a shot to his helmet late in the third quarter. He's being evaluated for a concussion. Joe Webb replaced Peterman at quarterback.

ESPN's Adam Schefter confirms the Bills are expected to start Nathan Peterman on Sunday against the Colts.

Tyrod Taylor didn't turn in any full practices this week, but his injury was always going to be used as a convenient excuse to get coaches pet Peterman back on the field. Peterman, of course, threw five interceptions in one half during his previous start. We would expect Peterman to play better on Sunday against the Colts than he did against the Chargers, but he's still a downgrade to the outlooks for all Bills skill-position players in fantasy.
Sun, Dec 10, 2017 12:14:00 AM

Sal Maiorana of the Democrat and Chronicle believes it would be "utterly shocking" if Nathan Peterman does not start Week 14 against the Colts.

Maiorana notes Peterman took "all the first-team reps" in practice this week while Tyrod Taylor is still dealing with a sore knee which has given him a noticeable limp. If he does in fact start, Peterman will have a golden matchup, but he cannot be trusted in fantasy lineups following his debacle against the Chargers. Peterman getting the nod would also be a downgrade for Kelvin Benjamin.
Fri, Dec 8, 2017 11:03:00 PM

Nathan Peterman completed 6-of-15 passes for 50 yards, zero touchdowns and zero interceptions in the Bills' Week 13 loss to the Patriots.

Peterman checked in for the final 13 minutes of the game after Tyrod Taylor was carted off with a knee injury. He predictably struggled mightily, though this time he avoided throwing five interceptions. Taylor's injury had the looks of a potential season-ender. Peterman will almost certainly be under center for Week 14 against the Colts. The matchup could scarcely be better, but Peterman shouldn't seriously be considered as a streamer.
