Free agent LB Brendon Ayanbadejo doesn't believe his outspoken support for marriage equality played a part in his release from the Ravens.
"I'm totally cool with them," Ayanbadejo said. "I'm a Raven for life." Ayanbadejo also said the "groundwork" is being laid for as many as four players to come out at the same time. "We're in talks with a handful of players who are considering it. ... It would make a major splash and take the pressure off one guy. It would be a monumental day if a handful or a few guys come out." Fri, Apr 5, 2013 09:28:00 AM

Ravens GM Ozzie Newsome didn't rule out re-signing LB Brendon Ayanbadejo.

Ayanbadejo was released by Baltimore on Wednesday. If the soon-to-be 37-year-old doesn't get a look elsewhere before training camp, it wouldn't be a surprise to see the special teams ace back at the veteran's minimum.

Ravens released LB Brendon Ayanbadejo.

Ayanbadejo has been a core special teamer for the Ravens since 2008, but his $940,000 salary was expensive for a player who's going on 37 and played just 173 snaps on defense last season. Ayanbadejo's experience should net him a look elsewhere.

The Carroll County Times says LB Brendon Ayanbadejo could be a cap casualty.

Ayanbadejo is due just a $940,000 base salary in 2013, but with Baltimore right up against the cap, every penny counts. The 36-year-old has been a mainstay on special teams, but his play has dipped as he's aged.

Ravens agreed to terms with LB Brendon Ayanbadejo on a three-year contract.

Ayanbadejo has been of the few effective core special teamers in Baltimore. The Ravens are looking to upgrade a unit that allowed the second-most yards per kickoff return and the ninth-most yards per punt return. The Corey Graham signing should help as well.

Ravens backup LB Brendon Ayanbadejo (concussion) is expected to be fine for Sunday's game against the Seahawks.

Ayanbadejo concussion was of the "mild" variety. He's a core special teamer for the Ravens.

Ravens LB Brendon Ayanbadejo suffered a concussion in Week 9 against the Steelers.

Beat writer Aaron Wilson called it 'mild,' but he will have to go through the NFL's mandated testing policy, anyway. We'll know more about his status when the Ravens return to practice.

Ravens LB Brendon Ayanbadejo is not 100 percent recovered from an offseason staph infection.

Ayanbadejo came down with the infection in his left knee in April, which required emergency surgery and a five-day hospitalization. It's a tough break for a player who missed 12 games with a quad injury in 2009 and six with a knee ailment last season. If Ayanbadejo is healthy this season, he'll play special teams.

The knee injury that kept Ravens LB Brendon Ayanbadejo (probable) out of Thursday's practice is not believed to be serious.

Said the three-time Pro Bowler, "I had a flare-up in my knee, so I had to pull the vet card. I’m going to be 100 percent on Sunday." The special teams ace should be ready to go for the team's Week 16 matchup with Cleveland.

Ravens activated LB Brendon Ayanbadejo (quad) from the physically unable to perform list.

The special teamer will be in uniform for Sunday's game against the Bills.

Ravens LB Brendon Ayanbadejo (quad, PUP) is "optimistic" but not sure if he'll make his return this weekend or not.

"I haven't played football in over a year," Ayanbadejo said. "I'm optimistic, but we'll see." He'll improve the Ravens special teams when he's ready but won't be a factor on defense.

Ravens placed LB Brendon Ayanbadejo on the reserve/PUP list.

Ayanbadejo tore his quadricep muscle early last October, and he's struggled to get over the hump in his recovery. Turning 34 in September, his NFL career is now in doubt. If the special teamer is able to overcome the injury, he'll be eligible to play in Week 7.

Coach John Harbaugh no longer expects LB Brendon Ayanbadejo (quad) to be ready for the start of the regular season.

Ayanbadejo has had multiple setbacks since tearing his quadriceps muscle last season, and he's yet to practice during camp. The Ravens have plenty of options to replace him on special teams and at reserve linebacker.
Thu, Aug 26, 2010 09:44:00 AM

Ravens LB Brendon Ayanbadejo disclosed that he recently underwent a minor followup procedure on his surgically repaired quad.

The procedure involved having amino acids injected into the leg. Ayanbadejo originally tore his quad muscle in October, and his return has gone more slowly than expected all offseason. The special teamer seems likely to open the season on the PUP list at this point.

Ravens LB Brendon Ayanbadejo (torn quad) expects to avoid contact at the beginning of training camp.

It doesn't bode well that Ayanbadejo's full return keeps getting pushed back. Entering his age 34 season, the special teams ace is no longer a lock to be ready for the season opener.
