Ex-NFL RB Larry Johnson has been sentenced to one year probation and fined $345 as a result of a domestic violence case with an ex-girlfriend from October.
Johnson, 33, pleaded no contest, but he was found guilty of misdemeanor domestic violence battery and assault. A felony charge was dropped as part of a plea deal. Johnson must also complete 48 hours of community service and attend six months of counseling. He last played for the Dolphins in 2011. Tue, Jul 23, 2013 03:19:00 PM

Free agent RB Larry Johnson was arrested on Friday in Las Vegas for domestic assault.

Johnson was allegedly involved in fight with his former girlfriend. It was reported that the woman suffered injuries to her face and bruising on her neck and that Johnson had small scratches on his face. Clark County, Nevada, jail records show that Johnson was being held on $15,000 bail and was scheduled for a 7:30 a.m. hearing today. Johnson unfortunately has a history of off the field issues with two convictions of disturbing the peace for incidents at Kansas City nightclubs in 2008.

The Bengals will work out free agent Larry Johnson on Tuesday.

NFL teams typically try out several players on Tuesdays, before the practice week starts on Wednesday. Johnson appeared in seven games for the Bengals in 2009, so he has some familiarity with the coaching staff. L.J. is probably high on the team's emergency list with Cedric Benson facing a suspension.

Dolphins released RB Larry Johnson.

We didn't need to see evidence of the coaching staff's faith in Daniel Thomas after his 18-carry workload in his NFL debut, but there it is nonetheless. LJ was only signed for depth with Thomas nursing a hamstring injury. He's no longer needed after rushing just once for two yards with the Fins.

The Miami Herald's Armando Salguero suggests Larry Johnson could be cut soon.

With Daniel Thomas healthy and turning a corner last week, the washed-up Johnson isn't really needed. And as ProFootballTalk.com reported last week, the Dolphins can dump Johnson without paying his salary at any time because LJ has already used his one-time "termination pay" provision.

Updating a previous item, the Dolphins can cut Larry Johnson at any time without paying the rest of his salary.

Even though Johnson is a vested veteran and was signed prior to Week 1, players can use their "termination pay" provision just once in a career. Johnson used it in 2009 when he was cut by the Chiefs. If Daniel Thomas (hamstring) can get healthy and show improvement, LJ may get his walking papers once again. He received no carries in Monday's opener, even with Thomas inactive.

Dolphins re-signed RB Larry Johnson.

Weird move. Johnson was just released on Saturday after ending up fourth on the depth chart behind Reggie Bush, Daniel Thomas and Lex Hilliard. It's possible that the Dolphins grew even more concerned with the pass protection and inside running of Daniel Thomas, forcing them to reconsider. We still don't think Johnson, 31, has enough gas in the tank to be effective if called upon this year. But the Dolphins are strangely guaranteeing his contract for the duration of the season by signing him prior to Week 1. LJ indicated that the Texans expressed interest this week before the Fins called.

Dolphins released RB Larry Johnson.

Johnson wasn't able to crack the Dolphins' backfield despite a highly disappointing camp from rookie Daniel Thomas. He rushed for 46 yards and one touchdown on 12 carries in the preseason. Since earning his walking papers from the Chiefs in November 2009 following a series of off-the-field incidents, Johnson has carried the ball just 51 times for 206 yards. His career is likely over.

Larry Johnson rushed 10 times for 39 yards with a touchdown in Thursday's preseason finale.

It was Johnson's first game action in nearly a year. His touchdown came on a 22-yard run to the right side and gives him a chance to stick on the final roster. Johnson entered last night fourth on the depth chart behind Reggie Bush, Daniel Thomas and Lex Hilliard.

Coach Tony Sparano confirmed that Larry Johnson won't be guaranteed a roster spot with the Dolphins.

"We've got a couple weeks to work with him. We felt like he was a guy we wanted to get a look at," said Sparano. "He's had some productive seasons. We're not asking him to be the man. We're asking him to be a piece on this football team." The Dolphins moves this week suggest a back-side covering with Daniel Thomas looking underwhelming in short-yardage situations.

Dolphins signed RB Larry Johnson.

It's a strange move. Johnson looked completely washed up with the Redskins early last year, getting cut following Week 2. He then went all season without getting picked up and received no interest on the open market following the lockout. That's because he's 31 and has averaged 3.22 yards per carry on his last 361 NFL totes. Despite Daniel Thomas' disappointing preseason, we don't see Johnson as much more than insurance -- if he even makes the team.

Free agent RB Larry Johnson has settled a lawsuit from a woman who alleged he spit a drink on her in a bar in 2008 for $100,000.

Johnson's proposal of "an offer of judgment" was accepted, and he is not liable in criminal court. The onetime star running back turned 31 in November after appearing in just two games with the Redskins. It's unclear if L.J. is contemplating a comeback, but we'd bet that he's played his last NFL snap.

Former Chiefs RB Larry Johnson is currently being sued in a Kansas City court for allegedly spitting on a woman in a bar in 2008.

The suit isn't new, but attorney Jack T. Bangert (for real) is arguing Johnson has become so hated in Kansas City that he can't get a fair jury. "If we can’t get a change of venue ... it is insurmountable," Bangert said. "We want to go anywhere but here." L.J. is hated in K.C. because his play fell to pieces immediately after Carl Peterson signed him to a monster contract, and his disturbing treatment of women was well documented by the media.

Coach Jeff Fisher said the Titans were merely preparing their "ready" list when they brought in free agent Larry Johnson and three other running backs for workouts this week.

NFL Network's Jason La Canfora reported that the Titans envisioned L.J. in "LenDale White's old role." It appears Fisher's team does not intend to sign a change of pace back for Chris Johnson, however, and instead was simply doing its due diligence in case of injury. For what it's worth, Fisher said L.J. had a "great workout," was "in good shape," and that he thought Johnson "can still play." Fisher must not have watched the Redskins' early-season game tapes.

Titans worked out free agent Larry Johnson on Tuesday.

Per LaCanfora, the Titans envision L.J. filling "LenDale White's old role" if he's signed. With Chris Johnson on pace for 350 carries once again, the Titans want a physical complement to handle some short-yardage looks and kill the clock late in games. With a nice schedule and Randy Moss' presence drawing defenders out of the box, L.J. wouldn't be a threat to CJ2K's fantasy value down the stretch.
