Bryan Broaddus of the Cowboys' official website doesn't anticipate the team re-signing free agent RG Brian Waters.
Waters, 37, appeared in seven games last season before landing on I.R. with a torn triceps and showed that he still has plenty of game left. After trying to sort through offensive line issues last offseason, Dallas appears to be in pretty good shape up front with their starters. Waters will only play close to his Texas home. Coach Jason Garrett says the Cowboys would be very open to re-signing RG Brian Waters, who was placed on injured reserve with a triceps injury Saturday.

Waters, 37 in February, played in seven games for the Cowboys and graded out as a top-11 pass protector in Pro Football Focus' guard ratings. The veteran also had a big impact in the locker room. "We have so many young guys," Garrett said. "...To have a veteran guy like that to kind of show them how to do it, it was really good. We’re certainly very open to having him back." Waters resides in Texas. The Cowboys are likely the only team he would consider playing for in 2014, when Waters will be a free agent at age 37.

Cowboys placed RG Brian Waters on injured reserve with a triceps injury, ending his season.

Waters suffered the injury in Week 8 against the Lions. Playing on a one-year contract, it's possible that his career has come to an end. Waters graded out as ProFootballFocus' No. 11 guard in terms of pass blocking. He'll be replaced by Mackenzy Bernadeau.

Cowboys RG Brian Waters (triceps) is out for the season.

It's a very significant blow to a Cowboys offensive line that started to click once Waters entered the lineup in Week 3. The six-time Pro Bowler and two-time All-Pro graded out as ProFootballFocus' No. 11 guard in terms of pass blocking, and was on track to perhaps earn his seventh trip to Hawaii. Working on a one-year contract at age 36, it's now possible that Waters' career is over. The Cowboys are forced to move forward with liability Mackenzy Bernadeau, who allowed seven sacks and 24 quarterback hurries last year, at right guard.

Cowboys RG Brian Waters was forced from Sunday's game against the Lions with a triceps injury, and is questionable to return.

Waters also injured his left leg earlier in the game, and is almost certainly done for the afternoon. Mackenzy Bernadeau is now at right guard.

Cowboys RG Brian Waters will start in Week 3 against the Rams.

He'll take over for Mackenzy Bernadeau after playing 18 snaps in his season debut last week. Waters, 36, graded out as Pro Football Focus' No. 2 right guard in 2011 and should provide an immediate upgrade in run-blocking.

Cowboys RG Brian Waters is expected to see "significant playing time" this week against the Chiefs.

Waters, 36, was signed by the Cowboys on September 3. He was inactive for the season opener, but the team steadily increased his reps in practice. Mackenzy Bernadeau may get the start at right guard, but Waters is going to rotate in plenty. Waters hasn't played in a game since the Super Bowl in February 2012.

Cowboys declared RG Brian Waters, OL Darrion Weems, WR Cole Beasley, RB Lance Dunbar, DE Anthony Spencer, DE Caesar Rayford, and S Danny McCray inactive for Sunday night's game against the Giants.

Waters was signed on Tuesday and will need 2-3 weeks of practice before contributing in games. Dunbar is dealing with a foot injury and remains day-to-day. Joseph Randle and Phillip Tanner will back up DeMarco Murray.

Updating a previous item, the Cowboys signed G Brian Waters to a one-year contract worth up to $3 million.

As expected. Per beat writer Clarence Hill, Waters will need 2-3 weeks of practice before contributing in games. He's expected to take over at right guard, which will push Doug Free back outside to compete with Jermey Parnell for the right tackle job. Waters graded out as Pro Football Focus' No. 2 right guard in 2011, a year in which he started all 16 games for the Patriots. Waters, now 36, did not play football last season.

Cowboys signed OG Brian Waters.

Waters worked out for the Cowboys on Tuesday and was signed to an undisclosed contract. He sat out all of 2012 while waiting to earn his release from the Patriots. Waters, 36, likely won't be active for Sunday's season opener but will be an upgrade over Doug Free at right guard.

Fox Sports Southwest reports the Cowboys' pursuit of free agent OG Brian Waters is "a dead deal."

Executive VP Stephen Jones says the Cowboys have "kind of moved on from there, for the time being." A source told Fox Sports Southwest that it appears Waters simply "just doesn't want to play football." It's not surprising. Waters has moved on with his life. The Cowboys are going to have to work with what they have for the time being until Ronald Leary and Nate Livings are healthy.

The Dallas Morning News reports the Cowboys have made free agent OG Brian Waters more than one offer, and that the sides have been "dancing for some time."

The Cowboys don't exactly have much leverage with a player who was willing to sit out all of 2012 to earn his release from the Patriots. They'll have to pay up to get Waters off the street, but they might not have the money. If owner Jerry Jones can find the dough, Waters would be well worth a flier for a team with perhaps the league's worst interior line.

The Cowboys have extended free agent OG Brian Waters a contract offer.

Having given up on Brandon Moore, the Cowboys are turning to the next-best semi-retired guard available. Waters is 36 years old and believed only to be interested in playing "at the right price." The Cowboys don't have much cap room.

Appearing on Thursday Night Countdown, ESPN's Adam Schefter reported free agent OG Brian Waters is the Cowboys' "No. 1 target" to upgrade their offensive line.

Waters' name has been floating around the Cowboys for the past week. Per Schefter, Waters is willing to play but will only consider signing with the Cowboys at "the right price." We can likely rule out the 36-year-old playing for the veteran's minimum. Dallas is looking for an upgrade on RG Mackenzy Bernadeau.

Bryan Broaddus of the Cowboys' official website reports the team is exploring signing free agent OG Brian Waters.

Waters, 36, was released by the Patriots in April because he didn't want to play for them. He started all 16 games for New England in 2011, but never reported to the team last season. Waters has always said he wanted to play closer to his home in Texas, and he can't get much closer than Dallas. The Cowboys are dealing with injuries to starters Nate Livings and Mackenzy Bernadeau.
