Free agent FB Tony Richardson said Thursday that his options for 2011 are to re-sign with the Jets or retire.
"See what direction the organization wants to go," said Richardson. "I'll kind of let them know how I feel, and we'll go from there." If the Jets are ready to turn lead-blocking duties over to John Conner, this could be the end of the line for Richardson. Thu, Feb 3, 2011 05:50:00 PM

Following Sunday's loss to the Steelers, Jets FB Tony Richardson said he isn't sure if he'll be back for his 18th season.

It might not be up to Richardson. The respected veteran worked on a one-year contract in 2010, and the Jets may be ready to hand the job to John "The Terminator" Conner. Richardson will turn 40 years old during the 2011 season.

Jets re-signed FB Tony Richardson to a one-year contract.

T-Rich's release was met with fury by Jets fans, but the team planned to bring him back all along. He's probably still going to start the opener over rookie John Conner. "The Terminator" Conner remains the future at the position.

Manish Mehta of the NY Daily News reports that the Jets will "definitely" re-sign FB Tony Richardson before Week 1.

Rookie S/CB Brian Jackson wasn't on the Jets' practice field Monday, an indication that he could be the player going to create room for the return of "T-Rich." Jackson is no longer needed with Darrelle Revis' holdout over.

Free agent FB Tony Richardson could be re-signing with the Jets as soon as Monday, according to Pro Football Talk's Mike Florio.

The veteran was just released Sunday. We suspected that he might be back after Week 1 so the Jets didn't have to guarantee his salary, but Florio speculates that after the team re-upped with Darrelle Revis, they may now cut one of their other cornerbacks, which would open up a spot again for T-Rich.

Jets released FB Tony Richardson.

Rex Ryan was adamant about keeping Richardson as a symbol of the Jets' "ground and pound," but the Jets have a cheaper, younger version of "T-Rich" in The Terminator Conner. Richardson's release doesn't mean his tank is on empty. The Jets could also re-sign him after Week 1, as opposed to guaranteeing his $855K salary by keeping him on the Opening Day roster.

Coach Rex Ryan virtually guaranteed that the Jets will keep both Tony Richardson and John Conner on the roster.

It's somewhat rare for a team to keep two fullbacks, but Hard Knocks viewers know that Ryan doesn't have a choice here. Conner, an impressive fifth-round rookie, is the future at the position and Richardson is the ultimate pro at age 38. Jason Davis will end up being cut.

Jets agreed to terms with FB Tony Richardson on a one-year contract.

After blocking for Thomas Jones' impressive run over the past three season, Richardson will now turn his attention to Shonn Greene and LaDainian Tomlinson. At age 38, he's still a valuable member of the Jets backfield.

Jets GM Mike Tannenbaum called re-signing free agent FB Tony Richardson a "priority" for the team.

Tannenbaum also confirmed that Richardson plans to play one more year. Despite going on age 39, Richardson remains an effective lead blocker.

Jets re-signed FB Tony Richardson to a one-year contract.

Richardson is 37, but proved last year that he's got something left in his tank as Thomas Jones' lead blocker. The deal is thought to be worth $500K.

The Jets are reportedly closing in on a deal with free agent FB Tony Richardson.

San Francisco would've given Richardson a look had he hit the market, but it appears he'll stay in New York. He'll probably re-sign for one year.

Free agent Tony Richardson intends to play two more years in the league, but the Jets haven't spoken to him about re-signing.

New 49ers OC Jimmy Raye and Richardson's history dates back to their days in Kansas City, so it's only natural that he'd consider following Raye to San Fran. Richardson, 37 has a lot of game left and could help Frank Gore.

Jets agreed to terms with FB Tony Richardson on a one-year contract.

Richardson, 36, is hardly the pass catching or short yardage threat he once was, but can still deliver a blow. He was an All Pro selection as Adrian Peterson's lead blocker in 2007. His addition bodes well for Thomas Jones.

In addition to DB Eugene Wilson, free agent FB Tony Richardson visited with the Jets on Wednesday.

The Jets aren't done spending just yet. If Wilson gets out of New York without a deal, he'll head to Tennessee. Richardson is also on the Rams' radar.

In addition to the Jets, the Rams have shown interest in free agent FB Tony Richardson.

We're heading to wave two of free agency. Richardson spent time with new Rams offensive coordinator Al Saunders in Kansas City. He's 36 years old.
