Betts has sat out the last two games and with Pierre Thomas' pending return this weekend, he's buried on the depth chart. He's a candidate for injured reserve.

Saints declared RB Ladell Betts, RB Pierre Thomas, TE Tory Humphrey, T Charles Brown, DE Junior Galette, LB Ramon Humber, CB Leigh Torrance and S Matt Giordano inactive for Sunday's game against the Bengals.

Chris Ivory and Julius Jones will carry the load for the Saints once again. Jeremy Shockey (ribs) is active, as expected. That cancels out any fantasy upside for David Thomas or Jimmy Graham.

Betts isn't going to play Sunday, and he's no longer worthy of a roster spot even in deep leagues with the Saints' backfield getting back to full health.

Saints RB Ladell Betts (head/neck) missed Tuesday's practice.

If Reggie Bush (leg) encounters a setback, Julius Jones could end up handling the bulk of the passing-down duties as Chris Ivory's caddy at Dallas Thursday night. Betts seems unlikely to play.

Saints RB Ladell Betts (head/neck) would not have practiced Monday had the Saints not been given the day off.

Betts only played on passing downs Sunday, seeing zero carries but catching three passes for 37 yards. He must have been injured at some point late in the game. The "head/neck" tag indications a stinger or a concussion.

Ladell Betts rushed 13 times for 31 yards with a touchdown in Sunday's blowout of the Panthers.

Betts got extra carries when Chris Ivory (shoulder) left the game early in the fourth quarter. In fact, Betts' short touchdown run likely would have gone to a healthy Ivory. Betts remains a low-upside option, even if Ivory misses time. Reggie Bush is expected back after the Saints' bye.

Ladell Betts is expected to start at running back for the Saints in Week 9.

Betts will be out there for the first snap, but that doesn't make him a better play than Chris Ivory in standard scoring leagues. It may be a sign, however, that Julius Jones won't be used as much as he was last week. Jones belongs on fantasy benches.

Ladell Betts caught eight passes for 48 yards against the Browns in Week 7.

He didn't carry the ball once, but the passing-down specialist did play more snaps than Chris Ivory with the Saints in comeback mode from the second quarter on. The Saints' backfield picture remains murky going forward, but Betts won't be a fantasy option against the Steelers next week.

Ladell Betts rushed six times for 20 yards with a touchdown and added a six-yard reception in Sunday's win over the Bucs.

Betts touchdown came in garbage time when Chris Ivory limped off. He wouldn't have gotten that carry under normal circumstances. Additionally, new addition Julius Jones received more carries than Betts. As long as Ivory is healthy, Betts is barely rosterable even with Pierre Thomas (ankle) out.

Ladell Betts had a hand in one Cardinals' defensive score and another turnover that that led to a second touchdown in the Saints' Week 5 upset loss.

Betts' fourth-quarter fumble was returned for a 27-yard touchdown, and he also had a ball deflect off his hands for a pick deep in Saints territory. It's hard to say the Julius Jones signing was a direct response to Betts' performance, but his role is set to be reduced anyway with Pierre Thomas (ankle) expected to return to practice. We wouldn't hesitate to drop Betts for a waiver pickup this week.

Ladell Betts rushed 10 times for 44 yards and added five receptions for 26 yards against the Cardinals in Week 5.

The Saints couldn't take advantage against an Arizona run defense that had been gashed of late. Betts had 15 touches to 10 for Chris Ivory, but his fourth quarter fumble was taken back for a touchdown by Kerry Rhodes. With Pierre Thomas (ankle) likely to return in Week 6, Betts' touches will decline significantly.

Ladell Betts played 58 of the Saints' 76 offensive snaps last week with Pierre Thomas (ankle) out.

Chris Ivory started but was only on the field for 16 snaps. Still, the touch count was 17 for Betts to 12 for Ivory. Betts was on the field so much because he did a tremendous job in pass protection, something Ivory struggles with. Neither is a great option if Thomas sits again, but note that Ivory remains the goal-line back.

Ladell Betts rushed 13 times for 47 yards and added four catches for 23 yards in Sunday's win over the Panthers.

Betts was impressive for a guy that has barely played over the last few seasons. He's not very explosive, but showed good hands out of the backfield and got the yards that were blocked. Still, it's clear that Chris Ivory is the better option as Pierre Thomas' handcuff.

Chris Ivory's struggles in pass protection mean he'll come off the bench. Neither one is a recommended option as the Saints will go pass heavy, but note that Ivory will get the goal-line work.
