Jaguars hired Jedd Fisch as offensive coordinator.
The Miami Hurricanes' offensive coordinator and QBs coach, Fisch will be returning to the NFL after two years in the college ranks. Fisch worked with new Jaguars coach Gus Bradley in 2010 in Seattle, serving as Pete Carroll's QBs coach. Still only 36 years old, Fisch has nine years of NFL experience. Fisch favored a balanced attack at Miami, but was very aggressive through the air. He is a West Coast offensive mind. Jan 19 - 9:06 AM

The Jaguars have requested permission to interview Saints OC Pete Carmichael for their own offensive coordinator position.

Carmichael is a coaching free agent, but the Jags apparently need the Saints' permission because it would be a lateral move and the new league year hasn't started yet. Per ESPN's Adam Schefter, New Orleans does want to re-sign Carmichael, who has been calling the Saints' plays since Sean Payton broke his leg in the middle of the 2011 season.

The Jaguars have received permission to interview Seahawks OC Darrell Bevell for their head-coaching vacancy.

Bevell, an offensive coordinator for the last seven seasons, is getting looks from the Bears and now the Jags. He could be considered a fallback option if the Eagles wrap up Gus Bradley Tuesday afternoon. The Jags are also set to meet with Bengals OC Jay Gruden and already have been linked to Falcons ST coach Keith Armstrong, Rams OC Brian Schottenheimer and 49ers OC Greg Roman.
Jan 15 - 12:36 PM

The Jaguars will interview Bengals offensive coordinator Jay Gruden for their head-coaching vacancy.

NFL Network's Ian Rapoport also says the Jaguars are interested in talking to Falcons special teams coordinator Keith Armstrong regarding the job. Jacksonville is already set to interview incumbent DC Mel Tucker to at least satisfy the Rooney Rule, so the interest in Armstrong could be genuine. Gruden has also been linked to the Cardinals, Eagles, and Cowboys.
Jan 12 - 1:26 PM

The Jaguars have reportedly requested permission to interview Rams OC Brian Schottenheimer for their head-coaching vacancy.

Schottenheimer interviewed with former Jags GM Gene Smith last January before Mike Mularkey was chosen. He has a connection to new GM David Caldwell through Rams GM Les Snead, as the two execs worked together in the Falcons front office for years. Schottenheimer would seem to be an uninspired choice. His offenses in New York and St. Louis have been unimaginative. One person who worked with Schottenheimer did tell NFL Network's Ian Rapoport that he would be a better head coach than coordinator.
Jan 10 - 6:15 PM

Jaguars fired head coach Mike Mularkey.

New general manager David Caldwell wants to handpick his own coach and rebuild the Jags with a clean slate. So the offensive-minded Mularkey's second stint as an NFL head coach is over after one 2-14 season that saw the Jags rank 29th in total offense. His first chance -- with the Bills beginning in 2004 -- lasted just two seasons before he resigned. 49ers OC Greg Roman is considered the odds-on favorite to replace Mularkey thanks to his long-standing friendship with college roommate Caldwell. Rams OC Brian Schottenheimer is also expected to be in the mix. Eight NFL teams have now fired their coach since last Monday, with just two of the openings filled so far.
Jan 10 - 11:04 AM

ESPN's Adam Schefter confirms the Jaguars are "unlikely" to retain coach Mike Mularkey following Tuesday's hiring of David Caldwell as GM.

Schefter joins CBS' Jason La Canfora in predicting Mularkey's ouster. It's a matter of when, not if, Mularkey is handed his walking papers after going 2-14 during his first season in Jacksonville.
Jan 9 - 2:54 PM

According to CBS Sports' Jason LaCanfora, the Jaguars are "very likely" to announce they are parting ways with coach Mike Mularkey after hiring David Caldwell as GM.

Per LaCanfora's colleague Pete Prisco, Caldwell and Mularkey "weren't exactly chummy" during their time together in Atlanta. Prisco expects Caldwell to follow the Thomas Dimitroff model, growing "side-by-side" with his own hand-picked head coach. 49ers OC Greg Roman is viewed as the prohibitive favorite, as he and Caldwell were teammates and roommates in the 1990s at John Carroll University in Ohio.
Jan 8 - 6:23 PM

Jaguars hired Falcons director of player personnel David Caldwell for their general manager position.

It's second straight year that Falcons GM Thomas Dimitroff has lost his first lieutenant to another team. One personnel man told Pete Prisco of CBS Sports that Caldwell and Steve Keim of the Cardinals were the two best GM candidates on the market. The two finalists in Jacksonville each landed their own gigs within hours of each other on Tuesday. Caldwell is choosing the Jaguars over the Jets, which speaks volumes about the attractiveness of the New York job. Caldwell is expected to hire old friend and former Colts exec Chris Polian as his pro personnel director. 49ers OC Greg Roman has close ties to Caldwell, however, and may be the favorite to take over as head coach.
Jan 8 - 4:51 PM

The Jaguars have scheduled a third interview with Falcons director of player personnel David Caldwell for their general manager vacancy.

Caldwell is vying with Cardinals exec Steve Keim as the two finalists. Although owner Shad Khan is getting close to a decision, no press conference is expected before Tuesday.
Jan 7 - 10:09 AM

ESPN's Adam Schefter reported Saturday that the Jaguars have narrowed their GM search to two finalists: Cardinals exec Steve Keim and Falcons exec Dave Caldwell.

The Jags interviewed Giants college scouting director Marc Ross on Friday, but he's apparently not in the running. Per Schefter, 49ers exec Tom Gamble turned down the Jaguars and is focused on the Jets. Schefter mentioned Falcons DC Mike Nolan and 49ers OC Greg Roman as head-coaching possibilities should the Jags hire Caldwell. Roman and Caldwell played football together at John Carroll.
Jan 5 - 11:28 AM

The Jaguars interviewed Giants director of college scouting Marc Ross for their GM vacancy on Friday.

Jacksonville has also interviewed Cardinals exec Steve Keim, Falcons exec David Caldwell, and 49ers exec Tom Gamble. Ross has also received interest from the San Diego and was expected to interview with Chargers brass yesterday in New York. Reports have yet to surface as to whether that meeting did in fact occur.
Jan 5 - 10:59 AM

Jaguars assistant coaches were given permission Friday to speak to other teams about open jobs.

As ESPN's Adam Schefter notes, it's not a good sign for Mike Mularkey's chances of avoiding a pink slip. It may also be an indication that the Jaguars are close to hiring a general manager. (Or perhaps they already have.)
Jan 4 - 2:16 PM

The Jaguars will reportedly interview Cardinals VP of player personnel Steve Keim for their vacant GM position.

Jacksonville has already interviewed Falcons exec David Caldwell and 49ers exec Tom Gamble for the job. The three candidates thus far have been hottest names on the general manager market, widely respected for the talent evaluation and experience. Keim is also a candidate in San Diego and Arizona.
Jan 2 - 12:25 AM

Jaguars owner Shad Khan is reportedly flying to San Francisco to interview 49ers director of player personnel Tom Gamble for the Jaguars' GM vacancy.

Gamble is also a candidate for the Jets' GM job. He joins Falcons director of player personnel David Caldwell in the hunt for the Jacksonville position. SI's Don Banks reported last week that Gamble "may have the inside track" on replacing Gene Smith. Gamble's father was once president of the Eagles, and he's been groomed for a GM job after coaching and working in college and pro scouting.
