Former Rams DE Leonard Little has officially announced his retirement.
He had told the Rams that he would come back and play for them this season if they needed him, but with Chris Long and James Hall playing well, such a need was never there. Little said he has received multiple calls from other teams during the season, but he told them he wasn't interested. He registered 87.5 sacks over 12 seasons with St. Louis. According to NFL Network's Jason La Canfora, free agent DE Leonard Little was contacted by the Houston Texans.

The Texans lost DE Connor Barwin for the season on Sunday, and it looks like they want to replace him from outside of the organization. In early August Little admitted to being undecided about his playing future, and it remains to be seen what it would take to lure him back.

Free agent DE Leonard Little admitted Wednesday that he is undecided about continuing his playing career.

This is probably the biggest holdup in Little getting signed. Several teams have shown interest, but the 35-year-old seems to have lost his desire to play. "Sometimes I feel like I want to come back," he said. "Sometimes I feel like I don't." Little is staying in shape in case he develops the "itch" again.

Rams coach Steve Spagnuolo confirmed that he would welcome DE Leonard Little back if the free agent opts against retirement.

The sides haven't spoken of late, so a re-signing is not imminent. Little is said to be staying in football shape while contemplating his future. He may be holding for one last chance to play for a contender.

Free agent DE Leonard Little has been staying in shape in Charlotte (NC) while contemplating retirement.

ESPN's Len Pasquarelli reported last month that Little intends to keep playing, but no teams appear to be beating down the door to sign him. He can still contribute as a situational pass rusher. Little had seven sacks in '09.

Rams GM Billy Devaney says there is "nothing going on" in terms of contract talks between the team and free agent Leonard Little.

Devaney didn't rule out a re-signing, and an ESPN report over the weekend stated that Little "has all but decided" to continue playing in 2010. Going on age 36, the lifelong St. Louis Ram may prefer to play for a contender.

According to ESPN's Len Pasquarelli, free agent DE Leonard Little "has all but decided" to continue his playing career in 2010.

Little can still get to the passer, so his services should be in demand even though he's injury prone and entering his age-36 season. Little has played his entire career with the Rams. One would assume he'd want to play for a contender again, but St. Louis could certainly use his speed off the edge.

Free agent DE Leonard Little is once again contemplating retirement from football.

The 35-year-old hasn't received as much interest as expected, and he's told his agents not to schedule any team visits "or anything dealing with football right now." The Rams remain interested in bringing him back as a situational pass rusher.

Free agent DE Leonard Little's visit with the Saints has been rescheduled.

The Saints have put Little on the back burner while they attempt to lock up former teammate James Hall. Hall would conceivably replace recently released Charles Grant as an every-down end.

The Saints will host free agent DE Leonard Little on Thursday.

This will be his first free agent visit. Little could help the Saints as a situational rusher off the bench. Injury prone and going on age 36, he wouldn't be a viable option to replace Charles Grant full time at left end.

Free agent DE Leonard Little said Thursday that he is interested in finishing his career with the Panthers.

"If they would call, I would really have to consider it," he said. Little, 35, is a fan of current Panthers DL coach Brian Baker, a former Rams assistant. "He's been a great inspiration to me, off the field and on the field," Little added.

Free agent DE Leonard Little, 35, is reportedly "leaning toward" playing football in 2010.

"We are very open to the possibility of having him back," Rams GM Billy Devaney said Wednesday. Little, though, may want to play for a contender. To do so, the career St. Louis Ram would likely have to accept a situational role.

The Rams are scheduled to meet with the player rep for free agent DE Leonard Little next week at the NFL Combine.

Little was expected to consider retirement this offseason, but it sure seems like he plans on playing another season. According to the St. Louis Globe-Democrat, the Redskins have denied reports that they're interested in the pass rusher.

Defensive coordinator Jim Haslett is reportedly interested in bringing free agent DE Leonard Little to the Redskins.

The Rams have also shown interest in re-signing Little if the 35-year-old opts to continue playing. Little would be a good fit with the Redskins, as he knows Haslett's scheme and the team could use a situational pass rusher.

The St. Louis Post-Dispatch suggests that impending free agent Leonard Little could land with the Panthers in 2010.

Little lives in Charlotte, and Panthers DL coach Brian Baker was on the Rams' staff from 2006-2008 under Scott Linehan. Julius Peppers is also a free agent, and the 35-year-old Little wouldn't command a hefty contract.
