Chiefs released QB Quinn Gray.

Gray was only due $750,000, but new GM Scott Pioli didn't deem the former Jaguar worth bringing to training camp. The Chiefs will roll with Tyler Thigpen, Brodie Croyle (knee surgery), and Ingle Martin behind Matt Cassel.

The Chiefs have promoted Quinn Gray to their No. 2 quarterback, bypassing Ingle Martin IV.

Gray offers better arm strength than Martin, a former Packers late-round pick. However, Tyler Thigpen's strong Week 8 game has likely extended his leash.

Chiefs signed QB Quinn Gray.

Not the Quinn that Chiefs fans were hoping for. The former Jaguars backup is expected to be at practice today. Gray isn't an option to start any time soon, but the team may have to turn to him at some point down the road if Damon Huard's thumb injury is serious. He'd be a better option than Tyler Thigpen so Dwayne Bowe owners can have some hope.

Colts released Quinn Gray and Jared Lorenzen.

So much for that position battle. And so much for being concerned about Peyton Manning's injured knee. If the Colts had any fear he wouldn't be ready for Week 1, they would carry more than two quarterbacks. Lorenzen is more likely to get a call from Indy if they need help in the season.

Quinn Gray completed 10-of-19 passes for 160 yards and a touchdown in the Colts' preseason opener against Washington Sunday night.

The second QB to enter after Jim Sorgi, Gray exhibited good speed on an 11-yard scramble up the middle, and hit Onrea Jones for a 30-yard score. He also hooked up with Courtney Roby on a 47-yard completion to set up a field goal at the end of the first half. Gray may have the upper hand on Jared Lorenzen to be the Colts' third stringer.

The Colts signed QB Quinn Gray.

A sign they're suddenly concerned with Peyton Manning? Nah. Gray gives Indianapolis another arm to throw practice passes. PFT also got an "unconfirmed tip" that the Colts may be adding Jared Lorenzen, perhaps to challenge Gray in hot dog eating contests.

Texans released QB Quinn Gray and OL Jordan Black.

They must be glad they didn't trade Sage Rosenfels now. Gray looked promising as a backup in Jacksonville, but didn't show up to offseason workouts in great physical shape and struggled adjusting to coach Gary Kubiak's system. The Raiders could make a strong push to sign him. Black served as Houston's fourth tackle in 2007.

Texans QB Quinn Gray has reportedly looked "like he needs to lose some weight" at offseason workouts.

Maybe Alex Brink will make the club after all. Gray is naturally a big fella, but that makes it all the more important for him to stay in shape. The Texans figure to keep three QBs this season, but Gray is no lock to stick.

Texans signed QB Quinn Gray to a one-year, $645,000 contract.

Gray, 28, went 2-2 as a starter in place of David Garrard (ankle) last year. His TD:INT ratio was 10:5 and YPA a decent 6.8, but Gray completed only 55.6% of his passes. His accuracy is his biggest downfall. Still, the athletic former Jaguar is capable of being an above average No. 2 quarterback. The Vikings offered a third-round pick for current Texans backup Sage Rosenfels in late February. Expect talks to rekindle on or before draft day.

Free agent Quinn Gray says he'll sign with the Texans.

"My agent (Drew Rosenhaus) has an agreement in place," he said. "It's a 1-year deal." Gray would've had a much better chance at playing time in either Oakland or Green Bay. He plans on signing a deal for the minimum, so his addition tells us that he's been told Sage Rosenfels is on the trade block.

The Texans will reportedly host Quinn Gray for a free agent visit Sunday.

If Houston can convince Gray to sign, it could put Sage Rosenfels on the trade block. The Vikings are known to be interested in him, having offered a third-round pick for Rosenfels at the start of free agency.

Free agent Quinn Gray left Oakland Wednesday without a contract.

He remains on the Raiders' radar, but it's never a good sign when a player is allowed to leave. Gray also visited with the Packers earlier in the week.

NFL Network's Adam Schefter reports free agent QB Quinn Gray visited with the Packers on Monday.

No Aaron Brooks yet. On Tuesday, Gray will visit the Raiders, who Schefter says are "very interested" in having him behind JaMarcus Russell. Gray's best chance for playing time would be in Oakland, particularly if Russell is truly pushing 300 lbs. The Pack seems sold on Aaron Rodgers as a starter.
Mon, Mar 10, 2008 07:16:00 PM

The Packers may be interested in Quinn Gray as new QB Aaron Rodgers' backup.

The team showed interest in Gray a few weeks ago, and he likely moves back to the top of the list after Brett Favre's retirement. Gray's elongated release may be scaring teams off, but coach Mike McCarthy has worked well with quarterbacks.
