Falcons signed TE Marcus Pollard and waived TE George Cooper.

Pollard needs to learn a new offense, but he actually has a real good shot at playing time in Atlanta, which boasts the NFL's worst corps of tight ends. Cooper doesn't have a future in the league.

Pollard, 36, proved in Seattle last season that he has next to nothing left, so it was a surprise he even lasted this long. His career could be over.

Marcus Pollard looked stiff and there was a hitch in his walk at the Patriots' passing minicamp on Tuesday.

Pollard had surgery on his knee last season, and it's quite possible the 36-year-old hasn't fully recovered. He's far from guaranteed a spot on New England's roster.

Patriots agreed to terms with TE Marcus Pollard, formerly of the Seahawks.

Pollard, 36, failed badly when given a chance to start in Seattle last year. Much less will be asked from him in New England. Pollard may only be on the roster long enough to see Benjamin Watson return from ankle surgery.

Seahawks coach Mike Holmgren indicated after Saturday's playoff loss to the Packers that TE Marcus Pollard will not be back in 2008.

Holmgren sure spoke like a man who expects to be back himself. "It's probably a position that we have to continue to search for and develop," he said of the tight end spot. Pollard's career could be over after he dropped a sure TD in the loss. He turns 36 in February and is a free agent.

Marcus Pollard caught one pass for three yards, and lost a fumble on the play in a Divisional Round loss.

He also dropped two passes, including a touchdown. Seattle needs a better receiving tight end and this effort could inspire them to cut Pollard quickly.

He saw two targets. Pollard caught 28 passes during the regular season.

Pollard's score was just his second this year. The 35-year-old hasn't caught more than two passes in a game since the regular season opener.

In all likelihood, Will Heller will go back to the bench. The aging Pollard has caught just 14 passes in seven games this season. He only has one TD.

Seahawks TE Marcus Pollard (knee) missed practice again Friday.

He's questionable, but doesn't seem likely to face the 49ers at this point. The teams do square off on Monday night, giving him an extra day to prepare.

The 'Hawks were hopeful Pollard would play against the 49ers Monday night, but right now his status is highly uncertain. Will Heller is his backup.
