The Tampa Tribune reports the Bucs would like to re-sign impending free agent Dallas Clark for "at least" another year.
Clark came over from the Colts on a one-year deal in 2012 and posted 47 catches for 435 yards and four touchdowns. "I was certainly happy with the way Dallas Clark played this year. He played 16 solid games and he stayed healthy, which is what a lot of people's concerns were," said GM Mark Dominik. The Bucs would be better off going younger at the position with third-year TE Luke Stocker. Jan 24 - 8:15 PM

Bucs GM Mark Dominik said he doesn't think impending free agent TE Dallas Clark is contemplating retirement.

Clark, now 33, is coming off his healthiest and best season since 2009. But Dominik doesn't sound overly excited about bringing him back. "You want to have two people come together and make a deal happen as opposed to one side is happy and the other isn't so sure what it wants to do yet," he said. Perhaps the Bucs will let 2011 fourth-round pick Luke Stocker spread his wings in 2013.

Dallas Clark was held without a catch on one target at Atlanta in Week 17.

Clark took a backseat to Luke Stocker, who caught three of five targets for 50 yards. Failing to crack the top 20 fantasy tight ends, Clark finished his first season in Tampa with 47 receptions, 435 yards, and four touchdowns. Turning 34 in June and offering little run-after-catch ability, Clark is unlikely to return to the Bucs as an unrestricted free agent.

Dallas Clark caught four passes for 33 yards in Tampa's Week 16 loss to the Rams.

Clark alternated dump-off duties with FB Erik Lorig. His longest grab went for 11 yards. Averaging an anemic 9.3 yards per catch, Clark will likely struggle to find work in the offseason. He'll turn 34 in June.

Dallas Clark caught eight passes for 42 yards in Week 15 versus the Saints.

Clark tied for the team-lead with Vincent Jackson with his 12 targets. The Saints effectively shut down the outside passing attack, so Josh Freeman continually looked in the direction of his tight end. Clark shouldn't see 12 targets on another Sunday this season. He's no more than a TE2 against the Rams next week.

Dallas Clark had one catch for 19 yards in the Bucs' Week 14 loss to the Eagles.

Clark came crashing back to earth as he dropped a pass over the middle and was able to haul in just one of his five targets. With the Bucs' outside receivers having their way with Nnamdi Asomugha, there was little reason to feature Clark. He should have more upside as a TE2 against the Saints next week. He torched them for a 5/51/1 when these two teams met in Week 7.

Dallas Clark caught three passes for 21 yards and a touchdown at Denver in Week 13.

Clark hauled in his 50th career touchdown, most of them coming from the quarterback on the other sideline in Denver. He was targeted five times for just the fourth time this season. Clark is now on pace for a 45/455/5 stat line heading into Week 14 versus the Eagles.

Dallas Clark caught all four targets for a season-high 65 yards versus the Falcons in Week 12.

Clark now has season-highs in back-to-back games. Although he was used primarily in pass-heavy comeback mode in the first half of the season, the Bucs are beginning to work him into their base offense. We would like to see more consistent targets before recommending Clark as a fantasy play at Denver in Week 13.

Dallas Clark caught seven passes for 58 yards with a touchdown in the Bucs' Week 11 overtime win over the Panthers.

Clark rolled back the clock to 2009 in this one. He served as a security blanket for Josh Freeman as the Bucs mounted a fourth-quarter comeback, catching a fistful of underneath passes. Then Clark won the game in overtime on a perfectly executed 15-yard wheel route. The ex-Colt does have a touchdown in two straight games now, but we wouldn't trust him yet. He saw one target in Week 10 and had topped 33 yards just twice all season before this one. Clark is still a mere TE2.

Dallas Clark caught one pass for a three-yard touchdown in the Bucs' Week 10 win over the Chargers.

On a goal-line play out of a jumbo set, the Bucs faked to Doug Martin. Predictably, the entire defense went with him and Clark leaked out to the right for an easy score. It was his only target of the day. Clark will be a poor TE2 option against the Panthers next week.

Bucs TE Dallas Clark caught two balls for 22 yards in Sunday's Week 9 win over the Raiders.

He was targeted five times. Clark is 33 years old and plays like it, and you don't want him anywhere near your fantasy roster moving forward.

Dallas Clark caught three passes for 40 yards in Week 8 against the Vikings.

Clark has had far-and-away his best games as a Buc in the past two weeks, reeling in eight passes for 91 yards in the two games combined. The downside is that he saw just three targets on Thursday night, which isn't nearly enough for a start-able fantasy tight end. Tampa Bay has 10 days off before heading to Oakland, and the Raiders are one of the bottom 10 teams when it comes to covering opposing tight ends, so an end zone trip could be a possibility in Week 9.

Dallas Clark caught five passes for 51 yards and a touchdown in Week 7 against the Saints.

It was far and away Clark's most productive game of his young Bucs career. He caught five of his six targets on the afternoon, but he didn't really get involved until the second half. Clark's score came via the three-yard variety in waning minutes of the fourth quarter. He's no more than a low TE2 until he strings together more games like today.

Coach Greg Schiano realizes TE Dallas Clark is "frustrated" due to his small role in the Bucs offense.

Schiano believes the downfield success of Mike Williams (22.1 yards per catch) and Vincent Jackson (18.5) will result in more "over-the-top" coverage, opening the middle of the field for Clark. A bigger problem for Clark is that he's splitting snaps down the middle with Luke Stocker, a stronger blocker. Clark is 45th among tight ends in fantasy points so far.
Tue, Oct 16, 2012 07:32:00 PM

Dallas Clark caught three passes for 15 yards in the Bucs' Week 4 loss to the Redskins.

At age 33, Clark can't get open and can't do anything after the catch. He's on pace for 36 catches, 324 yards and no touchdowns as the Bucs head into their bye. Even owners in the deepest of leagues can do better at the TE2 spot.
