Jets CBs Donald Strickland (concussion) and Isaiah Trufant (hamstring) have been declared out for Week 6.
It should be a minor issue for the Jets as long as Darrelle Revis, Antonio Cromartie and Kyle Wilson are able to stay on the field against the Dolphins. Strickland should be back in Week 7, though Trufant could be sidelined longer with what's been described as a "significant" hamstring injury. Sat, Oct 15, 2011 02:55:00 PM

Date:

Jets CB Donald Strickland (head) is expected to miss Monday's Week 6 game against the Dolphins.

Fellow backup Isaiah Trufant is also likely out, so depth will be a small issue for the Jets if one of their top corners goes down. Overall, their absences shouldn't have much of an impact against the Dolphins.

Jets CB Donald Strickland left Sunday's game late in the third quarter with a head injury.

This may not be a concussion, as Strickland seemed fine walking to the locker room. With 13 minutes left in the game, Strickland's return has been deemed questionable.

Jets signed CB Donald Strickland.

Cut loose by the Chargers on Thursday, Strickland appeared in nine games for the Jets in 2009, notching 26 tackles and two sacks. A career backup, Strickland is purely a depth signing, and probably isn't even guaranteed of cracking the Jets' 53-man roster at age 30.

Chargers released CB Donald Strickland.

The move saved $765,000 in salary. The Chargers added two corners in the draft and re-signed Dante Hughes, making Strickland expendable. The 30-year-old career nickel back was a liability before losing his slot corner job late last season.

The Chargers will most likely release CB Donald Strickland once the transactions freeze is lifted.

Strickland is due just $765,000, but is coming off an unremarkable campaign that saw him tally 23 tackles and zero picks while primarily playing nickel back. He'll be replaced by second-round pick Marcus Gilchrist in the slot.

Donald Strickland is locked in as the Chargers' primary nickel back.

Strickland has carved out his niche in the NFL, serving as the nickel man with the Jets and Niners the last couple of years. With Antoine Cason now starting and Steve Gregory playing at safety full time, Strickland will have a major role on passing downs.

Chargers signed CB Donald Strickland to a two-year contract.

Oft-injured, Strickland has never played a full 16-game schedule in his career. The 29-year-old also hasn't picked off a pass since 2003. However, he fills a major void in San Diego as a nickel back. The Bolts remain likely to use an early- to mid-round draft pick on a corner to groom for the future.

Jets released CB Donald Strickland.

The oft-injured corner fell out of favor and lost nickel-back duties down the stretch. Now 29 years old, Strickland will try to land a job as a third or fourth corner elsewhere.

The Newark Star-Ledger reports that the Jets are "leaning toward" cutting CB Donald Strickland this offseason.

Despite ranking No. 1 in 2009 pass defense, the Jets may overhaul their secondary. FS Kerry Rhodes and RCB Lito Sheppard also are on the outs. Strickland, 29, signed a three-year contract last March to be New York's nickel back. He battled injuries all year, making 26 tackles in just nine appearances.

Jets CB Donald Strickland thinks he tore his groin muscle during Sunday's AFC Championship loss to the Colts.

On the first play after Strickland's injury, Pierre Garcon beat Lito Sheppard for a 36-yard gain. With Sheppard almost certainly moving on, Strickland will be the Jets' nickel back next season as long as his rehab goes well.

Jets declared CB Donald Strickland, third QB Erik Ainge, QB Kevin O'Connell, RB Chauncey Washington, LB Kenwin Cummings, G Matt Slauson and LB Marques Murrell inactive for Week 17 against the Bengals.

The Jets need a win over the Bengals to advance to the playoffs.

Jets CB Donald Strickland (concussion) is likely out for Week 12.

Strickland says the concussion happened on a "cheap shot" from Patriots right tackle Mark LeVoir on a bubble screen. Drew Coleman will step in as the Jets nickel back against the Panthers this week.

Jets signed CB Donald Strickland to a three-year contract.

A nickel and dime defender in San Francisco the last three seasons, Strickland will battle for a similar role in New York and help on special teams. The 28-year-old's competition will be Dwight Lowery and Drew Coleman.

In addition to the Titans and 49ers, the Broncos reportedly have interest in free agent CB Donald Strickland.

Strickland has always been a solid role player and can cover slot receivers. The Titans are the only team to have visited with the 28-year-old so far.
