Former Colts, Bucs, and Bears LB Cato June has accepted the head-coaching job at his high school alma mater in Anacostia (DC).
Jones is still only 32, but no teams had come calling since the end of the 2009 season. A Pro Bowler in 2005, June was considered one of the better coverage linebackers in football during his brief heyday. A Tampa-2 weak-side linebacker at 6'0/229, June finished his seven-year career with 73 starts, 12 interceptions, and two forced fumbles. He won a Super Bowl in February 2007. Bears released OLB Cato June.

The 30-year-old lasted two weeks on the roster, appearing in one game with no tackles. June appears to be on the brink of falling out of the league.

Bears signed LB Cato June.

The former Colt joins one of the few remaining Tampa-2 defenses in the league. He spent the summer with the Texans but was released with an injury settlement after breaking his arm in August. June will provide depth while Lance Briggs nurses a sprained knee.

Texans released LB Cato June with an injury settlement.

He's now eligible to sign with any team, but June's fractured forearm needs to heal first. He can't rejoin the Texans for at least another six weeks.

Texans placed LB Cato June on injured reserve with a broken forearm, ending his season.

June wasn't being counted on for a big role, so there was no reason to keep him on the roster while he was sidelined for the six or eight games. He may pursue an injury settlement and try to latch on elsewhere when healthy.

Cato June is expected to miss 6-8 weeks after suffering a broken forearm Thursday in a scrimmage with the Saints.

June will undergo surgery later today to have a plate inserted in the arm. He was already behind Zach Diles, Brian Cushing, and Xavier Adibi and wasn't going to have a very big role. June is now a candidate for injured reserve.

Texans agreed to terms with LB Cato June on a one-year, $1.5 million contract. The deal can be worth up to $2 million.

The weakside 'backer is a nice pickup for a Houston defense that could use depth. At this money, he'll have an outside shot to start over Xavier Adibi. It's more likely he'll be a swing backup in case Adibi or Zach Diles get hurt.

The Texans are hosting free agent OLB Cato June on Tuesday.

June would provide depth behind Xavier Adibi and Zach Diles, both of whom suffered injuries during the 2008 season.

The Bills will host free agent OLB Cato June Tuesday night.

June has experience in the Tampa 2 defense Buffalo is hanging onto. June's leverage, however, is killed by that being the only scheme he can play in.

Bucs released LB Cato June.

New coordinator Jim Bates wants a bigger defense and at 6'0/227 June was going to struggle in run support. Still, he's the most likely of Tampa's Wednesday cuts to find a job. With ball skills and speed, June is an ideal fit at outside linebacker in a Tampa 2 system. Though that scheme is dying off, he could return to the Colts or draw interest in Chicago and Buffalo.

Cato June will start at weak-side linebacker for the Bucs Sunday if Derrick Brooks (hamstring) can't play. Quincy Black would man the strong side.

Brooks is a game-time decision after not taking a practice rep all week. June would be an ideal IDP spot play against a Falcons team that figures to go extremely run heavy. June would also play in Tampa's nickel package.

The Bucs plan to eventually move Cato June to weak-side linebacker, after Derrick Brooks retires.

Brooks, 35, has two years left on his contract but could retire after 2008. June is signed through 2009 as well, so perhaps the Bucs will look to extend his deal after this season. June had only 69 tackles in the strong side last year.

Bucs SLB Cato June was cleared of DUI charges on Monday.

June was arrested last November for driving under the influence after he refused to take a breathalyzer test during a traffic stop. He was arrested in 2006 on another misdemeanor charge, so the NFL may review his latest run-in with the law even though June got off.

Bucs WLB Cato June (foot) worked out on his own during the first day of OTAs on Tuesday.

June was expected to be healthy for the offseason conditioning program after undergoing foot surgery, but the team is likely exercising caution. He's not expected to miss time during training camp.

Bucs LB Cato June (foot surgery) is expected to be healthy for the team's offseason conditioning program.

It appears June's fractured foot wasn't severe. June made only 69 tackles, a three year low, in his first season on the strong side. However, he was effective covering tight ends and a key to the Bucs' top ranked pass defense.
