The Panthers have informed free agent Jerricho Cotchery that he is not in their 2016 plans.
The Panthers will move forward with Ted Ginn, Stephen Hill, Corey Brown, and Devin Funchess behind Kelvin Benjamin. Turning 34 in June, Cotchery has lost his separation skills and committed three drops in Carolina's Super Bowl 50 loss to Denver. He might be able to hang on elsewhere at a minimum salary. Impending free agent WR Jerricho Cotchery wants to re-sign with Carolina.

Cotchery had a Super Bowl to forget, arguably dropping three passes including what would have been a critical first-down catch early in the game. Cotchery normally offers a reliable set of veteran hands, but he has not made much of an impact in his two seasons with the Panthers. Carolina could decide to move on as they attempt to upgrade the receiver position this offseason.

Jerricho Cotchery caught 2-of-5 targets for 17 yards in the Panthers' Super Bowl loss to Denver.

Cotchery made the game's first miscue on Carolina's second drive, bobbling away a critical would-be first-down catch with the Panthers backed up against their own goal. Bradley Roby had tight coverage, but ultimately Cotchery dropped another pass on Carolina's very next possession. Cotchery's third target was well covered by Von Miller, but was again a debatable drop. It was an ugly finish to a pedestrian 2015-2016 season from Cotchery, who is entering free agency and turns 34 in June.

Jerricho Cotchery caught 2-of-2 targets for 17 yards in the Panthers' NFC Championship Game win over the Cardinals.

A rotational chain mover at slot receiver, Cotchery contributed gains of 5 and 12 yards. Expect Cotchery to face off frequently with Broncos slot CB Chris Harris in Super Bowl 50.

Jerricho Cotchery caught 3-of-4 targets for 22 yards in the Panthers' Divisional Round win over the Seahawks.

It was a normal day for the veteran possession receiver and chain mover. He'll fill the same role next week against Arizona in the NFC Championship game.

Jerricho Cotchery caught 2-of-2 targets for 52 yards and a touchdown in the Panthers' Week 17 win over the Bucs.

Cotchery has been an efficient slot receiver for Carolina after a disappointing 2014. He was third in the Panthers' wideout rotation against Tampa Bay, with Devin Funchess out in front.

Jerricho Cotchery secured 5-of-6 targets for 73 yards in the Panthers' Week 12 win over Dallas.

Cotchery is a high-percentage target for Cam Newton and was his primary read on third-down plays against the Cowboys. Unfortunately, 33-year-old Cotchery's lack of big-play ability severely curbs his fantasy appeal.

Jerricho Cotchery caught 3-of-6 targets for 82 yards in Carolina's Week 9 win over the Packers.

The Packers forgot Cotchery existed on his 59-yard reception in the first quarter. Cotchery is part of a four-man rotation at receiver, and isn't a realistic WR4.

Jerricho Cotchery (ankle) is probable for Week 6 against the Seahawks.

He's back after suffering a high-ankle sprain in Week 2. Cotchery is merely a rotational piece in Carolina's receiving corps as a possession/blocking receiver.

Jerricho Cotchery (ankle) is practicing in full for Week 6.

Cotchery has been sidelined for Week 2, but will be back for Sunday's game in Seattle. Cotchery was drawing steady looks from Cam Newton before going down, but returns to a muddled receiver corps. He's not a viable WR5.

Jerricho Cotchery (ankle) returned to Panthers practice on Tuesday.

Cotchery looks poised to return from his high ankle sprain this week at Seattle. Before going down, Cotchery was operating as Carolina's No. 4 receiver behind Corey "Philly" Brown, Ted Ginn, and rookie Devin Funchess.

Panthers coach Ron Rivera said WR Jerricho Cotchery (ankle) will not play Week 4.

Rivera said Cotchery is on target to return following the team's Week 5 bye. Devin Funchess played 31 snaps and saw four targets with Cotchery sidelined on Sunday. He could see a similar role against the Bucs next week.

Panthers declared WR Jerricho Cotchery, LB Luke Kuechly, S Dean Marlowe, RB Brandon Wegher, OT Daryl Williams, WR Kevin Norwood and DT Colin Cole inactive for Week 3 against the Saints.

Jerricho Cotchery (ankle) has been ruled out for Week 3.

The Panthers don't think Cotchery's high-ankle sprain is overly serious, but he was never expected to play after not practicing all week. Devin Funchess will see an expanded role with Cotchery out.

The Panthers were hopeful Cotchery could play through his high-ankle sprain, but that was always unlikely. He will sit this weekend.
