Jerricho Cotchery caught four balls for 38 yards before leaving the Panthers' third preseason game with a groin injury.
Cotchery is coming off a painfully-slow 2014, but he's Carolina's most-trustworthy wide receiver at this point with Kelvin Benjamin on I.R. Cotchery was the Panthers' chain mover behind Greg Olsen in this one, with inconsistent burners Corey Brown and Ted Ginn working the perimeter. The extent of Cotchery's injury is uncertain. The Panthers can't afford to lose him, too. Aug 28 - 9:26 PM

The Charlotte Observer believes Jerricho Cotchery is entering training camp on the roster bubble.

If second-round pick Devin Funchess seizes a starting job and Corey "Philly" Brown earns a role as a situational deep threat in three-receiver sets, Cotchery could be the odd man out. The Panthers also have Ted Ginn to dress on game days for his special teams value after signing him to a two-year, $4.2 million deal. Cotchery, 33, is owed $1.5 million in salary and bonuses.

Jerricho Cotchery is not expected to make a significant contribution this year.

The Panthers badly needed to upgrade opposite Kelvin Benjamin this offseason. They did it, using a second-round pick on Devin Funchess and adding Ted Ginn as a situational deep threat. Corey Brown has also made a leap by almost all accounts and Greg Olsen is back. It leaves the 33-year-old Cotchery as a mentor and low-upside slot receiver a la Jason Avant.

Jerricho Cotchery caught three passes for 25 yards in Saturday's Divisional Round loss at Seattle.

Cotchery flukily caught 10 touchdowns for the Steelers in 2013, earning himself an $8M contract from the receiver-needy Panthers in free agency. He predictably busted, catching just 48 balls for 580 yards and one touchdown while playing in 15 regular season games. Now he'll turn 33 in June and is best served as a No. 3 or 4 wideout. The Panthers badly need an upgrade at Kelvin Benjamin's bookend.

Jerricho Cotchery caught three passes for 14 yards in the Panthers' Wild Card win over the Cardinals.

He also rushed one time for five yards and was targeted five times on the afternoon. Cotchery doesn't make any wow plays but offers a reliable set of hands on the outside. He'll play a backseat role in the Divisional Round.

Jerricho Cotchery caught three passes for 25 yards in the Panthers' Week 17 win over the Falcons.

He caught all three of his targets. Cam Newton attempted just 16 passes on the day with the Panthers smoking Atlanta. Cotchery is efficient in catching balls that come his way, but he doesn't do much after-the-catch. He'll be a chain-mover for the Panthers in the Wild Card Round against the Cardinals.

Jerricho Cotchery secured 5-of-5 targets for 46 yards in the Panthers' Week 16 win over the Browns.

Particularly early in the game, Cotchery was a first-down machine on a day where Carolina's passing attack largely sputtered. The Panthers will need Cotchery to continue to play efficient football when they play the Falcons for the NFC South title in Week 17.

Jerricho Cotchery secured 5-of-5 targets for 47 yards and a touchdown in the Panthers' Week 15 win over the Bucs.

Cotchery caught his first touchdown of the season from two yards out in the third quarter. Although Cotchery is still capable of being a useful possession threat, he is No. 3 in line for targets on the Panthers, and sometimes No. 4 depending on how heavily utilized the running backs are in a given week. Cotchery will be a low-ceiling WR4/5 in Week 16 against the Browns.

Jerricho Cotchery caught 1-of-2 targets for nine yards in Carolina's Week 14 win over the Saints.

Cotchery has grown less effective as the season has worn on, and is miles from WR5 relevance.

Jerricho Cotchery caught two passes for 20 yards in the Panthers' Week 13 loss to the Vikings.

This has become the norm for Cotchery. He was targeted five times, but can't separate anywhere on the field. We can continue to ignore Cotchery across the board.

Jerricho Cotchery caught two passes for 43 yards in the Panthers' Week 11 loss to the Falcons.

Cotchery was targeted just four times after drawing a team-high seven looks last week. He simply can't separate anymore, and isn't doing fantasy owners any good unless he's scoring touchdowns, which he's yet to do this season. Cotchery is obviously off the fantasy radar.

Jerricho Cotchery (hamstring) is probable for Week 11.

Cotchery missed practice time, but his hamstring injury won't keep him out of Sunday's game. He should start in two-wide sets opposite Kelvin Benjamin.

Jerricho Cotchery (hamstring) returned to Panthers practice Thursday, getting in a full session.

He'll be good to go against the Falcons. Cotchery is a weak WR5.

Jerricho Cotchery (hamstring) is expected to play against the Falcons Sunday.

Cotchery sat out Wednesday and may sit out Thursday as well, but it appears precautionary. The veteran hasn't caught more than three passes in a game since Week 5.

Jerricho Cotchery (hamstring) did not practice Wednesday.

Cotchery suffered a hamstring injury late in Monday night's loss. Kelvin Benjamin would be a candidate for 10-plus targets if Cotchery misses time.
