Free agent CB Nick Harper (shoulder surgery) says he can finally pass a physical.
If Harper is speaking the truth about his health, there's a chance some teams will kick the tires on him. But he's now 35 and is a liability in coverage at the point. The Titans almost certainly don't want him back, and other teams won't be beating down his door either. Sun, Jun 6, 2010 03:34:00 PM

Free agent CB Nick Harper (shoulder surgery) is still unable to pass a physical.

Even if/when Harper gets healthy, he almost certainly won't get a job with the Titans. They've brought back Rod Hood and added Tye Hill to compete with Ryan Mouton and Jason McCourty. They are also expected to address the corner position in the draft.

The Titans have reportedly reached out to free agent CB Nick Harper in hopes of brokering a deal.

Harper turns 36 before the season, is no longer a starting-caliber player, and is recovering from offseason shoulder surgery. While the Titans couldn't have been pleased by Jason McCourty and Ryan Mouton's rookie years, they should be able to do better than Harper. Using their first-round pick on a corner to book end Cortland Finnegan wouldn't be a bad idea.

Free agent CB Nick Harper underwent shoulder surgery after the season.

The 36-year-old is expected to be recovered by OTAs, but he's a longshot to return to Tennessee this year. Harper struggled mightily in coverage in 2009 and will have a hard time landing a job in free agency.

Free agent CB Nick Harper is not expected back with the Titans in 2010.

Harper turns 36 in July, dealt with complications from a broken forearm throughout the season's second half, and was a coverage liability at 100 percent. The one-time Hamilton Tiger-Cat's career may be over entirely.

Titans placed CB Nick Harper on injured reserve, ending his season.

Harper was experiencing further complications from his fractured forearm. The 35-year-old can no longer play man-to-man coverage and isn't much of a playmaker, having picked off just three passes in his last two seasons. The Titans will make cornerback a priority in the draft, and should have a chance at Florida CB Joe Haden if he comes out. Harper is a free agent in 2010.

Nick Harper (forearm) is likely out for Sunday's season finale against the Seahawks.

Harper aggravated his forearm injury in Week 16 while making a tackle and Rod Hood will start in his place this week. Harper is scheduled to be an unrestricted free agent after the season.

Titans LCB Nick Harper left Friday night's game with a forearm injury and did not return.

Harper was getting torched by Vincent Jackson in one-on-one coverage before leaving. Rod Hood isn't active, so Jason McCourty has come on. This looks like an aggravation of Harper's previous forearm problem.

Titans LCB Nick Harper returned to the starting lineup in Week 11 after missing four games with a broken forearm.

Rod Hood went back to the bench. Harper was burned by Andre Johnson for a touchdown in the first half and admitted he felt a little rusty. He wore a protective brace on his forearm and will do so for the rest of the season.

Coach Jeff Fisher announced that CB Nick Harper (arm) will rejoin the starting lineup when he returns to game action either this week or next.

Rod Hood has played well in his place, but the Titans are placing more emphasis on the past three years than the past three games. With nickel back Vincent Fuller now healthy, Hood will be pushed into a special teams role.

Titans CB Nick Harper has been medically cleared to return from his broken forearm, but still isn't playing in games.

This isn't the way the 35-year-old planned his contract season. Harper, 35, did not play well before his injury and has been replaced in the starting lineup by in-season pickup Roderick Hood. Harper won't be back in 2010.

Titans declared CB Nick Harper, RB Javon Ringer, CB Cary Williams, DT Jovan Haye, TE Craig Stevens, DE Jevon Kearse, RB Alvin Pearman, and OT Mike Otto inactive for Week 8 against the Jaguars.

Cortland Finnegan and nickel back Vincent Fuller are finally healthy, but the Titans will have to make do without Harper for one more week. It's a favorable matchup for the Jags' passing game.

Titans LCB Nick Harper (arm) is listed as doubtful for Week 8.

Tennessee's secondary is getting back nickel safety Vincent Fuller (arm) and possibly RCB Cortland Finnegan (questionable, hamstring), but won't be at full strength. The matchup is a tasty one for Jaguars QB David Garrard.

Titans LCB Nick Harper is out 4-6 weeks with a broken forearm.

Tennessee's thin secondary will continue to be exposed, with Tom Brady getting the next crack. Jason McCourty will start in the meantime. The Titans hope Harper will return in November, but he's 35 and may not recover quickly.

Titans LCB Nick Harper suffered a broken right forearm Sunday night.

He'll be reevaluated Monday to determine the severity of the break. Fellow starter Cortland Finnegan is also still hampered by a hamstring injury. Tennessee's secondary is in bad shape, to put it mildly, and lacks depth to withstand any losses.
