Texans agreed to terms with FB Greg Jones, formerly of the Jaguars, on a one-year contract.
Jones was the lead blocker in Jacksonville the past nine seasons, paving the way for Maurice Jones-Drew and Fred Taylor. He'll be Arian Foster's fourth fullback in as many seasons. Jones played just 246 snaps last season, which was 20th among fullbacks. Jones turns 32 in May, but Pro Football Focus graded him as a top-three lead blocker each of the past three years. The beat will go on for Foster. Mar 27 - 1:11 PM

Free agent FB Greg Jones will visit the Texans Tuesday.

After losing James Casey to the Eagles in free agency, the Texans are on the hunt for Arian Foster's lead blocker once again. They moved on from Vonta Leach after 2010 and replaced Lawrence Vickers following the 2011 season, but haven't missed a beat in the running game. Jones graded out as ProFootballFocus' No. 3 blocking fullback last season, behind only Leach and Rhett Ellison.

The Jaguars are interested in bringing back free agent FB Greg Jones.

The new coaching staff says there is room for a fullback in the offense, and the Florida Times Union says Jones could be re-signed later this week, before free agency opens. Coach Gus Bradley saw FB Michael Robinson go to the Pro Bowl while the two were with the Seahawks in 2011.

Jaguars FB Greg Jones (thigh) is expected to return to the lineup this week against the Bills.

Jones' Week 8 injury was initially described as a "bruise," but he's calling it a strain. The 31-year-old is one of the league's top fullbacks, so his return could help spark an ailing run game. Will Ta'ufo'ou has been getting the reps at fullback during Jones' absence.

Due $3.1 million this season, Jaguars FB Greg Jones may have to take a paycut to stay on the roster.

Jones is no longer a factor as a runner, but he did grade out as the best lead blocker in the league last season, according to Pro Football Focus. As Charlie Bernstein of Fox Sports Florida points out, "the fullback position is going the way of the newspaper and Jacksonville is a cash poor team." The Jags may turn to Brock Bolen if Jones isn't amenable to a paycut.

Jaguars FB Greg Jones has resumed practicing after undergoing surgery to repair a high ankle sprain in the offseason.

Jones has undergone countless surgeries since college, and received just six carries over the last two seasons. Salvaging his career as a fullback, Jones will return as the lead blocker in front of Maurice Jones-Drew.

Jaguars FB Greg Jones (high ankle sprain) will be placed on injured reserve, ending his season.

Jones' injury is not serious, but it's unlikely he could recover in time to help the Jaguars again this season. Montell Owens takes over as Maurice Jones-Drew's lead blocker and is a downgrade. Rookie Brock Bolen was also promoted off the practice squad and is expected to get some snaps.

Jaguars FB Greg Jones (ankle) has been ruled out for Week 15.

Jones will seek a second opinion before the Jags decide whether to place him on injured reserve. Montell Owens will start at fullback, though he's a downgrade as a lead blocker.

Jaguars FB Greg Jones (ankle) is in a walking boot and could be out an extended period of time.

Jones was injured during the fourth quarter of Sunday's loss to the Dolphins. Montell Owens is expected to start at fullback on Sunday.

Jaguars FB Greg Jones went to the locker room for X-rays after injuring his ankle in the fourth quarter Sunday.

The extent of Jones' injury is unknown. Primarily a lead blocker, Jones has only four carries and five receptions through 12 starts this season.

Greg Jones is expected to open the season as Maurice Jones-Drew's primary backup.

Rookie Rashad Jennings has shown little since the first week of camp, and Chauncey Washington is battling for a roster spot. It's not an ideal handcuff scenario for MJD owners as Jones would likely split touches with the other backs.

Jaguars FB Greg Jones didn't sound confident Saturday when asked about his role as a ball carrier possibly expanding.

"I'm not going to lie. It's been a while for me (running the ball)," he said. "It's not as polished as it used to be." Expect a lot of rookie Rashad Jennings on Monday night. The duo is vying to be Maurice Jones-Drew's backup.

Coach Jack Del Rio confirmed that Greg Jones will not be handed the Jaguars' No. 2 ball-carrying duties.

"He's got to fight to be the best guy," Del Rio said. "We're not going to hand anything to anybody." The coach has long been a fan of Jones' hard charging running style, but rookie Rashad Jennings was more impressive this spring.

Jaguars.com hints that the team's No. 2 back battle will come down to a two-horse race between FB Greg Jones and rookie Rashad Jennings.

Chauncey Washington and Alvin Pearman get no love. Jennings, the star of spring practice, would provide more explosiveness and versatility behind Maurice Jones-Drew. If Jennings wins, Jones could focus on lead blocking.

According to Jaguars offensive coordinator Dirk Koetter, Greg Jones is a "halfback trapped in a fullback's body."

Koetter compared Jones to the Ravens' Le'Ron McClain as a runner, but the Jags won't be using a committee attack. Though Jones will spell Maurice Jones-Drew and act his backup, he's far from an ideal handcuff.
