Free agent WR Jabar Gaffney's two-game suspension stems from a 2010 arrest.
The incident occurred in Miami prior to Super Bowl XLIV. Gaffney was a member of the Broncos from 2009-10, so he was just down in the area as a visitor. The receiver was cited for resisting arrest without violence. Gaffney will serve his suspension while on the street, and then will look for more work. Sat, Nov 24, 2012 02:36:00 PM

NFL suspended free agent WR Jabar Gaffney two games for violating an undisclosed league policy.

This may explain why the Dolphins were so quick to cut Gaffney after a six-week stay on the roster. Gaffney turns 32 next month and is nearing the end of the line. He's still eligible to be signed by a team during the two-game ban.

Dolphins waived WR Jabar Gaffney.

Gaffney missed last week's game with a knee injury. The tea leaves suggest the Dolphins are ready to promote rookie Rishard Matthews to the fourth receiver role going forward. Gaffney managed just four catches for 68 yards in three games with the Dolphins. The Pats may kick his tires for depth.

Dolphins declared WR Jabar Gaffney, TEs Michael Egnew and Jeron Mastrud, DT Tony McDaniel, OL Will Yeatman, and QB Pat Devlin inactive for Thursday night's game against the Bills.

Gaffney (knee) and Mastrud (hamstring) were both listed as questionable but are out. Marlon Moore will serve as the No. 3 receiver. McDaniel has a knee issue of his own, but the other three players are healthy.

Making his Dolphins debut in Week 8, Jabar Gaffney had one catch for 30 yards.

Gaffney's lone catch converted a third-and-10 and led to a touchdown. But on the next possession, he dropped a possible touchdown pass from Matt Moore. Gaffney and Marlon Moore are rotating at the No. 3 wideout spot for now.

Jabar Gaffney is expected to make his Dolphins debut on Sunday against the Jets.

A league source tells Profootballtalk.com that Gaffney will suit up today at MetLife Stadium. The veteran receiver signed with the team almost four weeks ago but has yet to make an appearance due to him still learning the playbook. Gaffney will likely act as Miami's No. 3 receiver behind Brian Hartline and Davone Bess, which will force Marlon Moore back into a special teams role. Gaffney offers more value in real life than fantasy.

Dolphins WR Jabar Gaffney has been working with the starting unit in practice.

The Dolphins are desperate for someone to emerge as the No. 3 receiver behind Brian Hartline and Davone Bess. Marlon Moore has the edge right now, but is ideally a special teamer. Look for Gaffney to eventually assume the role, but he won't be a fantasy option in the Dolphins' low-end offense.

Coach Joe Philbin said he's ready to see if Jabar Gaffney is "really ready to play at the speed we need him to play at."

Gaffney has been with the Dolphins since Oct. 2, but has been inactive for two straight weeks. Special teamer Marlon Moore is currently holding down the No. 3 wideout spot. Gaffney, 31, should have a shot at rotating in when the Dolphins come out of their bye.

Jabar Gaffney is among the Dolphins' Week 5 inactives against the Bengals.

Gaffney was just signed by Miami five days ago, so he must not be caught up to speed yet. It is a bit of a surprising move, though. Marlon Moore and Anthony Armstrong will be behind Brian Hartline and Davone Bess. The Dolphins also declared CB Richard Marshall (back), TE Michael Egnew, WR Rishard Matthews, OT Will Yeatman, and third QB Pat Devlin inactive for Sunday.

Jabar Gaffney confirmed that his hamstring is finally healthy after injuring it in late August.

The Patriots never publicly addressed the injury; beat writers suspected at the time that it was a quadriceps issue. The Dolphins likely would have signed Gaffney when he worked out a month ago if the hamstring was close to 100 percent. He's an upgrade on Legedu Naanee as the third receiver.

Dolphins signed WR Jabar Gaffney.

Gaffney worked out for the Dolphins a month ago, but he was believed to be still battling a thigh injury at the time. The timing of the signing suggests he's finally back to full health. Gaffney should assume Legedu Naanee's role as the third receiver behind Brian Hartline and Davone Bess. He won't have fantasy value while playing less than half of the offensive snaps.

Free agent WR Jabar Gaffney visited the Raiders on Wednesday.

The visit comes after Gaffney's Monday Dolphins workout. Gaffney hasn't missed a game since 2006, and would provide veteran, durable insurance for a Raiders receiver corps lacking both veteran and durable wideouts. Tiquan Underwood also worked out for Oakland.

Free agent WR Jabar Gaffney will work out for the Dolphins on Monday.

Gaffney was said to be holding out for a chance to re-sign with the Patriots once his thigh injury is fully healed, but that door may have closed with the Greg Salas trade. Agent Drew Rosenhaus reportedly expects either Gaffney or Donte' Stallworth to sign with the Dolphins shortly. Gaffney is a decent bit part as a possession receiver, but Davone Bess already fills that role on a team going nowhere this season. GM Jeff Ireland continues to apply band-aids to what has been a gaping-wound offense for several years.

The Miami Herald reports the Dolphins would "like to add" free agent Jabar Gaffney, but that his preference is to re-sign with New England once he's over his quad injury.

It appears Gaffney's injury was the motivating factor in his release, and that the Pats might have designs on re-signing him after Week 1, when his salary must no longer be guaranteed. Gaffney would certainly be a bigger part of the offense in Miami, but avoiding the Dolphins' pop-gun attack and re-upping with New England would be his best bet from a fantasy perspective.

Patriots released WR Jabar Gaffney and DL Tim Bulman.

Gaffney's release comes as a surprise after he saw a fair amount of snaps with the first-team offense in camp. He has been slowed by a quad injury of late, however, and missed New England's two most recent preseason games. Gaffney's release is good news for seventh-round rookie Jeremy Ebert, and very good news for Deion Branch. Although he posted a 68/947/5 line for the Redskins last season, Gaffney has now been released two times in four months. He should latch on somewhere else relatively quickly.
