Seahawks placed OG Chester Pitts (concussion) on injured reserve, ending his season.
Pitts ended up starting five games for Seattle after recovering from a 2009 microfracture surgery. He had lost his job in Week 17, however, replaced at left guard by Tyler Polumbus. The 31-year-old was on a one-year deal, so his future with the Seahawks is up in the air. Tue, Jan 4, 2011 05:51:00 PM

Seahawks G Chester Pitts left Sunday's game in the third quarter with a head injury.

Pitts was in the game only briefly, as he filled in while Russell Okung was out for a handful of plays. His night is over.

Seahawks LG Chester Pitts (ankle) is expected to return to the starting lineup in Week 15 after missing the past three games.

The Seahawks have had eight different offensive line combination in the season's first 13 games, with Sunday being the ninth. Pitts figures to be an upgrade despite his last name, though RB Marshawn Lynch remains unplayable against an Atlanta defense that's been stifling against the run.

Seahawks LG Chester Pitts (ankle) is unlikely to play in Week 14.

Pitts has missed the last two games and is "much better," according to coach Pete Carroll. But he isn't expected to practice until Friday and is looking very iffy for this weekend. Pitts has missed most of the year with knee and ankle injuries, but he's been one of the team's better linemen when healthy.

Seahawks OG Chester Pitts is expected to be active for Sunday's Week 8 game against Oakland.

Pitts has been sidelined all season with a knee injury, and Sunday will mark the first time he's been active. The versatile lineman will have a great chance to play given the Seahawks' offensive line struggles.

Seahawks re-signed OG Chester Pitts.

Pitts, 31, returns to provide depth at guard with the ability to play tackle in a pinch. He's still returning from offseason microfracture surgery.

Seahawks released OG Chester Pitts.

Pitts had yet to suit up this season. His knee simply isn't ready to go after undergoing microfracture surgery this offseason. Pitts will continue to rehab the knee while looking for an opportunity elsewhere.

Seahawks declared LT Russell Okung, OL Chester Pitts, OG Evan Dietrich-Smith, TE Anthony McCoy, DE E.J. Wilson, CB Nate Ness, LB Matt McCoy, and TE Cameron Morrah inactive for Week 2 against the Broncos.

No surprises here, as Okung and Pitts were both ruled out earlier this week. Golden Tate will be active for the first time this season.

Seahawks OG Chester Pitts (knee) is listed as out for Sunday's game against the Broncos.

With LT Russell Okung (ankle) also out, Tyler Polumbus will start at LT. The Seahawks somehow survived Week 1 against the 49ers, and have a much better matchup against the Elvis Dumervil-less Broncos. It remains to be seen if the Seahawks' luck can continue.

With LT Russell Okung (ankle) sidelined, OG Chester Pitts and OT Tyler Polumbus will compete to start at LT for the Seahawks Week 1.

The Seahawks will face off against San Francisco, which ranked third in the NFL in sacks last year. It's a nightmare situation for Matt Hasselbeck and the Seahawks, regardless of who wins the starting job.

Seahawks activated OG Chester Pitts from the physically unable to perform list.

Pitts, who is coming back from microfracture surgery, is unlikely to play in Saturday's preseason game, but he could be ready for Week 1 if all goes well. The Seahawks could use the depth.

Coach Pete Carroll said that OG Chester Pitts (microfracture surgery) could be ready to practice in a couple weeks.

There were some whispers that Pitts would have to start the season on the PUP list, but it sounds like the veteran is going to avoid that. If healthy, Pitts would be a decent backup for a very thin offensive line.

Coach Pete Carroll isn't expecting newly signed OG Chester Pitts (microfracture surgery) to be ready for football activities any time soon.

"It could be a couple months even before he gets [football activities] done," Carroll said, "but we'd like to see if we can get him ready to play in the preseason before it's over." Pitts will assume a backup role when he's ready for action.

Seahawks signed former Texans G Chester Pitts to a one-year contract.

Pitts has a history with current Seahawks OL coach Alex Gibbs, playing under him in Houston. Pitts will provide needed depth, but it's hard to imagine the Seahawks see him as much more as insurance considering he's returning from microfracture surgery.

Free agent OG Chester Pitts is reportedly scheduled to visit the Steelers, Seahawks, and Broncos this week.

Pitts, 31, worked out in Buffalo on Monday, but left without a contract. The biggest concern about Pitts is his knee as he returns from microfracture surgery. He'll probably end up with a minimum salary-type contract.
