Retired WR Donald Driver suggested at the Packers' charity softball game Sunday that he'd be open to returning if Green Bay called this year.
Brett Favre's nine-year teammate apparently was not joking. "I think the thing for me is if the Packers call midseason, I’d be in shape," said 38-year-old Driver, who "officially" retired on January 31. "I’ve been staying in shape." Reporters didn't ask what Driver would do if the Jets or Vikings called. Sun, Jun 16, 2013 07:48:00 PM

Donald Driver has officially decided to retire.

Driver, who will turn 38 on Saturday, called the decision "difficult" because he feels he "can still play the game." But after spending the last two of his 14 seasons buried on the depth chart, he said it's time to "let it go." Driver joined the Packers as a lightly-regarded seventh-round pick out of Alcorn State in 1999 and finishes as the illustrious franchise's all-time leader in receptions (743) and receiving yards (10,137). He also topped 1,000 yards seven times in an eight-year stretch between 2002 and 2009, and made three Pro Bowls. The Packers will hold a ceremony for Driver in Green Bay on Feb. 6.

Per Fox Sports Wisconsin, the Vikings are interested in impending free agent Donald Driver.

Driver, who turns 38 on Saturday, believes he can "go to any team and be either their No. 1 or No. 2 guy and be solid for another three years." That's a stretch, but Driver has repeatedly said he'd like to play until he's 40. "The question is, do I want to see myself in another uniform? I've always said I only want to wear that green and gold and nothing else," said Driver. Minnesota has just Percy Harvin and Jarius Wright as locks for roster spots in 2013 at receiver.

Impending free agent Donald Driver is reportedly "leaning toward retirement."

This comes from "a person informed of Driver's thinking on the matter." According to the same source, an announcement could come as soon as next week. After a season in which he caught eight passes, Driver, 38 next week, said he feels he can still play and would like to suit up in 2013, so it would be odd for him to hang it up before free agency even starts.

Impending free agent Donald Driver feels like he's proven that he can still play and wants to suit up again in 2013.

"I think I'm just going to see what's out there for me and if teams call and want me to come then I've got to make that decision," said Driver. "If not, if the Packers want me back, then I'll come back."

Donald Driver is a healthy scratch for the regular-season finale at Minnesota.

Turning 38 in February, the impending free agent has likely played his last regular-season game with the Packers. With Randall Cobb out of the lineup, Jeremy Ross and Jarrett Boykin are getting the nod over Driver.

Donald Driver revealed that he has a broken thumb.

Driver missed last week's game with the injury, but he intends to play through it the rest of the way. The 37-year-old is no higher than the sixth option in the passing attack when everybody is healthy, so he's well off the fantasy radar. Driver will be a free agent after the season and is certainly winding down an illustrious career as a Packer.

Donald Driver caught one pass for ten yards in the Packers' Week 9 win over the Cardinals.

Driver's role did not noticeably increase even after Jordy Nelson's early-game ankle injury. The 37-year-old rotated with UDFA Jarrett Boykin and was targeted just twice. Driver offers no fantasy value entering a Week 10 bye.

Donald Driver caught two passes for 10 yards and a touchdown in Green Bay's Week 8 win over the Jaguars.

Driver made the most of his opportunities, hauling in both passes thrown his way. His touchdown came from four yards out in the fourth quarter when he beat Jaguars S Chris Prosinski in the left corner of the end zone. Driver and Jarrett Boykin saw an increase in snaps with Jordy Nelson (hamstring) out.

Donald Driver and Jarrett Boykin will see an increase in snaps if Jordy Nelson (hamstring) sits out versus the Jaguars in Week 8.

Driver appears to have the edge, as he's seen 73 snaps to Boykin's 15 this season. Neither player is an option outside of the deepest fantasy leagues, although Randall Cobb and James Jones should be locked into starting lineups.

Donald Driver said he is "fine" with his meager role in the Packers' offense.

Through seven games, Driver has four catches for 45 yards while barely seeing the field. "I don't think you ever expect your role to be (reduced)," he said. "It happens when you transition to a certain point. ... I think you have to be OK with it." Driver will be 37 years old and a free agent in the spring.

Donald Driver has played just 37 snaps through the Packers' first four games.

He's buried on the depth chart and has two catches for 29 yards on the season. Driver recently told NFL Network's Ian Rapoport that although his major reduction in playing time is disappointing, he's fine with it as long as the Packers are winning games. Driver should remain buried on fantasy waiver wires.

Donald Driver was on the sidelines for all but the final three plays of Sunday's Week 1 loss to the 49ers.

The only reason Driver took to the field late was because Greg Jennings called for a replacement. Playing in come-back mode, the Packers operated out of the no-huddle formation extensively. That personnel grouping consists of Greg Jennings, Jordy Nelson, Randall Cobb and James Jones. Asked about his role, Driver replied, "I don't know. I'm all right."

Donald Driver wasn't targeted in Sunday's loss to the 49ers.

Driver apparently checked into the game at some point, but we didn't see it. Clearly more of a mascot and leader than asset on offense at this point in his career, Driver should be owned in zero percent of fantasy leagues.

Donald Driver has "steadily distanced himself" from Tori Gurley and Diondre Borel since hauling in three touchdowns in one early-camp practice.

The Milwaukee Journal-Sentinel, unsure of Driver's roster security two weeks ago, now believes the veteran is "entrenched." The question is whether Randall Cobb overtakes him as the primary slot receiver. Gurley and Borel will vie for one roster spot if the Packers do indeed decide to keep six receivers.
