Jaguars released DE Aaron Kampman.
This move has been in the works since Kampman's December surgery, the third on his knee since 2009. Still sidelined by the balky knee, Kampman had no chance to see his scheduled $5 million salary. After landing a $10 million signing bonus in 2010, Kampman managed just four sacks over 11 games the past two seasons as a free-agent bust in Jacksonville. The 32-year-old won't attract interest on the open market until his knee proves healthy. Thu, Jun 7, 2012 04:08:00 PM

Jaguars DE Aaron Kampman (knee surgeries) isn't expected back on the field until "some time during training camp."

Kampman's December surgery was originally announced as a "clean-up" procedure, so it's disconcerting that he's so far behind in his rehab. The 32-year-old admits his second ACL surgery during the 2010 season didn't respond as well as his first ACL surgery in 2009. Due close to $5 million this season, Kampman is turning into a roster long shot.

Jaguars DE Aaron Kampman (knee surgeries) will not participate in the beginning of voluntary workouts Tuesday.

Tyson Alualu will also be absent as he recovers from "minor" microfracture knee surgery. Kampman's absence wouldn't typically be a concern for a 10-year vet, but he's been limited to 20 games by injury the past three seasons, and is coming off supposedly minor December knee surgery. He's undergone three known knee operations since December of 2009, including ACL reconstructions in each knee. Due $4.975 million, Kampman could be cut after the draft.

Jaguars DE Aaron Kampman (knee surgeries) says he feels better at this time this year than he did last offseason.

"I’m encouraged," he said. "I’ve got a long ways to go but I’ve come a long way, too. There are no promises, but I’m making steps." GM Gene Smith indicated that Kampman will at least go to mid-April minicamps with the Jaguars. They may consider cutting ties with Kampman's balky knees and $5 million salary after the draft, but for now the 32-year-old remains on the roster.

Jaguars coach Mike Mularkey confirmed at the Combine that DE Aaron Kampman (knee surgeries) still hasn't passed his physical.

In late December, Kampman underwent his third known knee surgery since December of 2009 and there is a strong belief in Jacksonville that his days are numbered with the Jags. Kampman, 32, is owed a $4.975 million salary in 2012.

Jaguars DE Aaron Kampman recently underwent another knee surgery.

It was just a "clean-up" procedure, but Kampman has now undergone three known knee surgeries since December of 2009, two of the reconstructive variety after ACL tears in each knee. Kampman's base salary more than doubles from $2.45 million to $4.975 million in 2012. He may be an offseason cap casualty.

Jaguars placed DE Aaron Kampman (hamstring) on injured reserve, ending his season.

The 2011 season has been a complete washout for Kampman, who has missed the past four games and only played in three total due to knee and hamstring injuries. Kampman has appeared in just 11-of-32 games since landing a four-year, $24 million deal in March of 2010. The Jags may opt to cut ties this offseason, as Kampman is due roughly $5 million in base salary.

Jaguars DE Aaron Kampman (hamstring) is listed as doubtful for Week 11.

The Jags' defense is thinning out quickly with NT Terrance Knighton (ankle) already ruled out against the Browns, and top CB Rashean Mathis (torn ACL) going in I.R. this week. Until we see Jacksonville play effective defense without several of their top defenders, they can't be considered a tough matchup.

Jaguars DE Aaron Kampman sustained a hamstring injury during the Week 9 bye.

He was limited in Wednesday's practice. Kampman has had plenty of trouble getting over his latest ACL tear, and it may have led to the hamstring tweak. He's been essentially a non-factor as a situational pass rusher the past few weeks.

Jaguars DE Aaron Kampman admitted that he's not bouncing back well from his latest ACL tear.

Kampman has undergone major surgery on each of his knees in each of the last two years. It's not surprising that he's struggling to regain form. In the last two weeks, Kampman has played on just 26 and 23 snaps and he's yet to record a sack.

Jaguars coach Jack Del Rio plans to use Aaron Kampman (probable, knee) for 15-20 snaps in his Week 6 return.

It's about 30-33 percent of the snaps. Kampman will rotate with LE Matt Roth and RE Jeremy Mincey, perhaps starting but probably only playing in obvious pass-rush situations. They'll square off with an improved Steelers line.

Aaron Kampman and Jeremy Mincey were the Jaguars' first-team defensive ends at Wednesday's practice.

Kampman is expected to make his season debut after undergoing a second ACL tear recovery this offseason. He'll likely be eased in as part of a rotation that will also involve Matt Roth and Austen Lane.

Jaguars DE Aaron Kampman (knee) is expected to make his season debut in Week 6 against the Steelers.

Kampman might have been able to play at Cincinnati, but the Jags held him out to target what they viewed as a more competitive opponent. Kampman figures to be eased in, playing behind LE Matt Roth and RE Jeremy Mincey. He may play in obvious passing situations at first. The Jags have eight sacks through five games -- fourth fewest in the NFL -- so they need all the help they can get.

Jaguars DE Aaron Kampman (knee) is expected to miss Week 5.

Kampman remains out indefinitely as his recovery from a second ACL tear continues to move slowly. The Jaguars' defense has held up surprisingly well without its top pure pass rusher. Jeremy Mincey has been the most often-used Jags defensive end, but doesn't have a sack. Matt Roth is the starting right end.

Jaguars DE Aaron Kampman (knee) has a chance to return for Sunday's game against the Bengals.

In each of the past two weeks, Kampman has been ruled out before the week even got going. On Monday, coach Jack Del Rio left the door open. Kampman has missed the last 12 games dating back to last season after tearing his ACL in a practice drill. The Jags have just six sacks through four games this season.
