Packers released RT Mark Tauscher.
Tauscher was due nearly $5.6 million and would be no better than the Packers' fourth tackle this season, so this move was inevitable. The 34-year-old is noncommittal about continuing his career. Tauscher has been beset by injuries in recent seasons, and he's currently coming off rotator cuff (shoulder) surgery. Fri, Jul 29, 2011 03:51:00 PM

Packers OT Mark Tauscher (shoulder surgery) is noncommittal about playing this season.

Tauscher is still rehabbing his shoulder, though he says it now feels "a lot better." Turning 34 next week, Tauscher could consider retirement if the Packers decide his $4.1 million salary is prohibitive for a backup.

Packers RT Mark Tauscher ended up undergoing surgery late last season to repair rotator cuff damage in his shoulder.

Tauscher lost his starting job to Bryan Bulaga while trying to play through the injury last October. His $4.1 million salary is prohibitive for a swing tackle, so Tauscher will have to take a major paycut to return to Green Bay.

The Green Bay Press-Gazette confirms that RT Mark Tauscher "seems to have played his last game" for the Packers.

The Packers may explore retaining Tauscher as a backup, but his $4.1M salary is exorbitant for an injury-prone, declining veteran who lost his starting job. Tauscher is also due a $281,250 roster bonus and $200,000 workout bonus.

Packers OT Mark Tauscher is due nearly $5.6 million in combined 2011 base salary and bonuses.

His salary is $4.1 million, and Tauscher is also eligible for several offseason and in-season bonuses. Turning 34 this June, Tauscher is the most obvious release candidate on Green Bay's roster. He suffered a year-ending shoulder injury early last November and was replaced more than capably by first-round pick Bryan Bulaga. Tauscher's playing days may be through.

Packers placed RT Mark Tauscher (shoulder) on injured reserve, ending his season.

The Packers never revealed the extent of Tauscher's injury, but it was originally reported to be "significant" and ultimately cost him all but four games. Tauscher turns 34 before next season, and figures to be an offseason roster casualty. The career Packer has lost his starting job to rookie Bryan Bulaga. He's also due $4.1 million in 2011 base salary.

Packers RT Mark Tauscher (shoulder) wasn't a healthy scratch in Week 9 as previously reported.

The previous report was from the San Antonio Express-News, but the Milwaukee Journal-Sentinel reports that Tauscher is still dealing with his shoulder issue. What's not clear is if he'll have his his starting job waiting for him when he's ready, as rookie Bryan Bulaga has filled in well.

Packers RT Mark Tauscher is listed as a healthy scratch for Week 9.

He's officially been leap-frogged by rookie Bryan Bulaga at right tackle. It's surprising that Tauscher, who had been battling a shoulder injury, isn't active at least in a backup role.

Packers RT Mark Tauscher (shoulder) returned to practice on a limited basis Wednesday.

The Green Bay Post-Gazette notes that "there was no indication he would move back into the starting lineup" this weekend. The Packers need him back, as rookie Bryan Bulaga had a terrible time last week with Tauscher out.

Packers declared RT Mark Tauscher, TE Jermichael Finley, OL Marshall Newhouse, G Nick McDonald, DE Ryan Pickett, DE Mike Neal, LB Brandon Chillar, and OLB Clay Matthews inactive for Sunday's game against Miami.

Tauscher was listed as doubtful, and will be replaced by rookie Bryan Bulaga. C.J. Wilson will get his first career start with Pickett and Neal both sidelined.

Packers RT Mark Tauscher is reportedly dealing with a shoulder injury that could sideline him for a "significant period of time."

Rookie Bryan Bulaga has spent the majority of his practice time working at guard and left tackle, but he'd be more than adequate as a fill-in for Tauscher.

Packers re-signed RT Mark Tauscher to a two-year contract.

Tauscher didn't join the Packers until Week 5 last season because of the ACL he tore in December of 2008. But he immediately improved a shaky offensive line, starting the final nine games at right tackle. Even at age 33 next season, Tauscher will be the favorite to start at that spot once again.

Coach Mike McCarthy seemed to indicate on Friday that re-signing free agent RT Mark Tauscher might be next on the Packers' offseason agenda.

Tauscher really stabilized Green Bay's line in 2009 after stepping into the starting lineup in October. He's probably the team's best option while they continue to develop T.J. Lang and Breno Giacomini.

Beat writer Pete Dougherty suggests that the Packers could bring back impending free agent RT Mark Tauscher as a backup.

Tauscher really stabilized the Packers' line in 2009 after joining the starting lineup in October. He's 32 and had two major knee surgeries, but he still could be the Packers' best option at right tackle. The Packers would be well served to sign him to a short-term deal while continuing to develop T.J. Lang and Breno Giacomini.

Aaron Rodgers is pulling for the Packers to re-sign impending free agent RT Mark Tauscher.

"Without a doubt," Rodgers said. "He was a big part of our success." Signed off the street in-season, Tauscher entered the lineup in October. He wound up starting the last eight regular season games, and Green Bay won seven of them. The 32-year-old appears to have something left in the tank.
