Former Rams, Packers, and Eagles CB Al Harris announced his retirement.
Harris' 2011 season was ended by a torn right ACL in November. "I've played my last play," said Harris, who just turned 37. His plan is to immediately join the coaching ranks. Once one of the game's most effective man-to-man cover corners, Harris played 14 seasons in the league and made two Pro Bowls. He had 21 career interceptions and returned three of them for scores. Rams CB Al Harris has been diagnosed with a torn right ACL, and is done for the season.

Harris was lucky to come back after tearing his left ACL in 2009, and it's likely his latest tear will end what's been a long and productive 14-year career. His injury again leaves the Rams in a lurch at cornerback, a position where they've now lost four of their top five players this season. Josh Gordy should get the first crack at starting opposite Justin King, but Marquis Johnson will likely also be in the mix for snaps.

Rams coach Steve Spagnuolo "fears" both CB Al Harris and TE Michael Hoomanawanui are done for the season after suffering knee injuries in Sunday's win.

Despite the fact that the 37-year-old Harris' best days are long behind him, his loss would be a devastating blow for a team that's already lost CBs Ron Bartell, Bradley Fletcher, Jerome Murphy and Brian Jackson for the season. If his year is indeed through, the Rams will be forced to move forward with Justin King, Josh Gordy and Marquis Johnson at cornerback. Official word on both Harris and Hoomanawanui's status should come on Monday.

Rams CB Al Harris was forced from Sunday's game against the Browns with a right knee injury, and will not return.

Harris' injury appeared to be fairly serious, and is an ill-timed blow for a Rams secondary that has been decimated by injury this season. He's been replaced by former practice squader Josh Gordy.

Rams agreed to terms with CB Al Harris.

Harris is now 36 years old and nearly two years removed from a career-threatening knee injury. He last just three games in Miami last season before the Dolphins pulled the plug. Harris did play under Steve Spagnuolo in Philadelphia, so he'll get one last shot to contribute as a role player.

Free agent Al Harris is in St. Louis talking to the Rams, a source tells Geoff Mosher of the Wilmington News Journal.

We thought that Harris' career might be over as he turned 37 in January and has been unable to stay healthy over the last couple years. But the Rams are coached by Steve Spagnuolo, who coached Harris in Philadelphia from 1999-2003. Spags may take a flier.

Former Packers CB Al Harris will receive a Super Bowl XLV ring even though he didn't play a single game for Green Bay last season.

It's a nice gesture by one of the NFL's top organizations. The two-time Pro Bowler spent the first nine weeks of the season on the PUP list while recovering from a devastating knee injury. "I would expect nothing less of the Packers organization," agent Jack Bechta said. "Al was one of their dedicated warriors for many years and over half of the Super Bowl season."

Dolphins placed CB Al Harris (hamstring) on injured reserve, ending his season.

The move comes on Harris' 36th birthday, four weeks after he was signed. Harris played in three games as a nickel back with the Dolphins, participating in 73 of 188 defensive snaps. According to Pro Football Focus, Harris graded out well below average in pass coverage the past two weeks. He may get a few feelers in the offseason, but he's reached the journeyman stage of his career.

Newly acquired Dolphins CB Al Harris will be used as a backup to Vontae Davis and Sean Smith.

"Al completely understands coming in what his role is," coach Tony Sparano said. Sean Smith has been inconsistent this season, so it's certainly not out of the realm of possibility that Harris will eventually replace him in the starting lineup. For now, Harris is only veteran insurance.

Dolphins signed CB Al Harris, formerly of the Packers.

It's a one-year deal. Harris is coming off major knee surgery and will turn 36 next month, so he's not a given to have any kind of impact. The Dolphins have been disappointed with the production from their right cornerback spot all season. Sean Smith and Jason Allen are officially on notice.

Free agent CB Al Harris is reportedly negotiating with "multiple teams" after clearing waivers Tuesday.

Those negotiations are likely centering on Harris' health. It's believed that Harris is ready to pass a physical, but he may have to sign an incentive-laden deal to prove that he can still play after wrecking his knee last year.

A team source tells Jeff McLane of the Philadelphia Inquirer that the Eagles are not interested in recently released CB Al Harris.

Philly expressed interest following Harris' release, but ultimately decided to stand pat with their current cornerback situation. Harris' injury history could scare potential suitors, though it's unknown if it played a factor in the Eagles' decision to stay away from the veteran.

Packers released CB Al Harris.

Harris, 36 next month, is coming off a complete shredding of his left knee/leg. While teams like the Eagles have already said they could be interested, all clubs will have to see where Harris is at health-wise. During seven seasons with the Packers, Harris racked up 14 interceptions. He was one of the top "press-man" corners in football before Green Bay installed a zone in 2009.

Jason Wilde of ESPN 540 Milwaukee reports the Packers will release CB Al Harris on Monday.

"I lost my job to injury," Harris said in a text Sunday night, "but I have only good things to say about Green Bay and everyone I worked with." Harris had been on the PUP list after tearing the ACL, the LCL, the IT band, the fibular collateral ligament and the hamstring in his left leg last November. Turning 36 next month, the two-time Pro Bowler insists he'll play again in the NFL: "I just have to wait it out, see how it goes."
