The Green Bay defense will look to build upon a success full Week 11 performance in which they sacked Minnesota QB Teddy Bridgewater six times.
Green Bay is tied for sixth among NFL defenses with 29 sacks on the season and will face Chicago in Week 12, who has allowed only 18 sacks in 2015. After a three-game losing streak, the Packers turned things around in Week 11 with a 30-13 win at Minnesota and will look to pick on Chicago QB Jay Cutler in Week 12, who hasn't thrown more than one interception in a single game this season. The Packers D/ST is an underwhelming Week 12 fantasy option on a short week. Nov 26 - 2:36 AM

Green Bay cornerback Sam Shields (shoulder) could be ready to return to the field in Week 10.

"I feel pretty good today," Shields said. "I did a lot of moving. Things I thought I wasn't able to do, I was able to do it, going up and getting the ball and things like that." Shields was injured in Week 8 and missed Green Bay's game in Week 9. Shields will be a part of a top-five fantasy D/ST in Week 10, as the Packers face the Detroit Lions who lead the NFL in turnovers and are ninth in sacks allowed.
Nov 13 - 3:26 AM

The Green Bay defense will look to stop Carolina QB Cam Newton and the Panthers' rushing attack in Week 9.

The Packers are well aware of the challenges that Newton presents. "It’s like linebacker against linebacker with him when he’s running the read-option. He takes hits but it’s different with a 250-pound guy taking the hit than a 200-pound guy tackling the hit," said Green Bay DC Dom Capers. Carolina leads the NFL is rushing, averaging 144 yards per game and will be a difficult matchup for the Green Bay defense that struggles with opposing rushers. The Packers D/ST is just a borderline top-12 fantasy option in Week 9.
Nov 7 - 3:40 AM

LB Julius Peppers is leading the top-notch Green Bay pass rush with 5.5 sacks on the season.

Peppers isn't slowing down as a 35-year-old, registering 5.5 of Green Bay's 23 sacks so far this season and told the Milwaukee Journal-Sentinel, "I still feel great." The Packers D/ST is second among NFL defenses in sacks, and will look to get to Denver quarterback Peyton Manning on Sunday. Manning is tied for the NFL lead in interceptions with 10, making the Green Bay D/ST a solid fantasy option this week.
Oct 30 - 2:38 AM

The Green Bay Packers are second among NFL teams in sacks, taking down opposing quarterbacks 23 times over the first six weeks of the season.

The Green Bay D/ST is on bye this week and will look to return to their pass-rushing ways in Week 8 as they travel to Denver to face the Broncos. The Packers haven't been great in defending the run and just got torched by Philip Rivers through the air in Week 6, but their success in the sack and turnover categories have made this group a fantasy contributor in 2015.
Oct 23 - 4:17 AM

The Green Bay D/ST will look to attack the San Diego offensive line that will be missing two starters in Week 6.

LT King Dunlap and C Chris Watt will miss Sunday's game for San Diego. The Chargers' offensive line woes have resulted in 14 sacks allowed and just 92 rushing yards per game from the San Diego offense. The Packers D/ST has been solid this season in all facets except run defense, so this could be a nice week for this group with San Diego struggling to run the ball. Fantasy owners can trust the Green Bay D/ST as a top-10 option this week.
Oct 17 - 6:02 PM

The run defense of the Green Bay Packers has improved in recent weeks, with the last two Packers opponents averaging just 76 yards rushing.

The first two weeks of the 2015 season were rough on the Green Bay defense and continued a trend from 2014 with the Packers unable to stop the rushing attack of opposing teams. The last two weeks have been far better for the Packers, holding Jamaal Charles to 49 rushing yards and Carlos Hyde to 20 yards on eight carries. The Green Bay D/ST will need a solid front-line performance this week with St. Louis rookie Todd Gurley emerging in the Rams backfield. Playing at Lambeau Field this week, the Packers D/ST will be a top-12 fantasy option against St. Louis.
Oct 10 - 3:54 PM

The Green Bay Packers travel to San Francisco in Week 4 to face the struggling offense of the 49ers.

San Francisco is last in the NFL in scoring offense, averaging a paltry 15.0 points per game this season. Colin Kaepernick and the 49ers offense are also coming off a terrible offensive performance against Arizona in Week 3, where they registered just 156 total yards and turned the ball over four times. The Green Bay D/ST has not been the most productive fantasy defense so far this season, but this group is certainly worth a look as a top-12 option in Week 4 with a solid matchup.
Oct 2 - 10:57 PM

Green Bay DC Dom Capers has used multiple defensive schemes like the "Bear" defense to help deal with personnel changes due to injuries.

"You better have enough different packages because you might have to put different combinations of people out there. That's why you've got to have a large menu to pick from," Capers said about his defense. The Milwaukee Journal-Sentinal's Bob McGinn noted that the Packers "Bear" defense has held opposing quarterbacks to 2-8 passing and just eight yards on 12 dropbacks this season. With defensive injuries mounting, the Green Bay defense will likely keep a wide array of defensive packages at their fingertips. The Packers D/ST is a mid-tier Week 3 fantasy option against Kansas City.
Sep 27 - 3:32 AM

Rookie linebacker Jake Ryan will see an increase in playing time in Week 2 with ILB Sam Barrington (foot) out for the season.

Green Bay linebacker Nate Palmer will also fill the void left by Barrington, but the rookie will have plenty of chances to contribute against the defending NFC champions. LB Julius Peppers spoke about the situation saying, "I feel like they’re coming along well. We’re asking a lot of those guys, with a little bit of inexperience, a little bit of playing time." The inexperience at linebacker could provide Seattle running back Marshawn Lynch with a big opportunity for production, as Green Bay allowed Matt Forte to run wild for 141 yards in Week 1. The Green Bay D/ST is a risky Week 2 start in fantasy leagues.
Sep 20 - 1:14 AM

The Milwaukee Journal-Sentinel tabbed the Packers run defense as the key to Week 1 success for Green Bay.

The report identified late-season improvement from the Green Bay run defense as a big factor in the strong finish to the 2014 season for the Packers. Now, DC Dom Capers will be tasked with carrying over that success into the 2015 season, which starts with a matchup against the Chicago Bears. New Chicago head coach John Fox will likely build the Bears offense around Matt Forte and the running game, so success from the Green Bay defensive front will be important this week. The Green Bay D/ST will be a top-ten Week 1 option among fantasy defenses as they travel to Soldier Field.
Sep 12 - 11:03 PM

The Green Bay Press-Gazette noted linebackers Jayrone Elliott and Jake Ryan as players who stood out in Week 4 of the preseason.

Elliott and Ryan combined for eight total tackles in the Packers 38-10 win over the New Orleans Saints as the 2015 preseason came to an end. DC Dom Capers' defense struggled against the run last season and could use the contributions of both these linebackers alongside Clay Matthews. The Green Bay D/ST has a nice Week 1 matchup ahead as they are set to face the Chicago Bears.
Sep 5 - 4:41 PM

The Milwaukee Journal-Sentinel expects the Green Bay defensive communication to be tested against Philadelphia in Week 3 of the preseason.

The Eagles famously run their offense at a speedy clip, so Dom Capers will have his defense focused on communication in between snaps. It will be an interesting test for the Packers defense, who will be a decent Week 1 fantasy option as they travel to Soldier Field to take on Jay Cutler and the Bears, who turned the ball over 29 times (sixth in the NFL) in 2014.
