Giants re-signed DT Shaun Rogers.
Details are unavailable, but it's likely a one-year deal with no guaranteed money. Rogers, who's a month shy of his 34th birthday, missed all of 2012 with a blood clot in his leg. The three-time Pro Bowler has made just five starts since the end of the 2009 season, and is nothing more than a depth signing for a team that released Chris Canty on Wednesday. Feb 7 - 4:03 PM

The Giants are now holding out a "ray of hope" that the blood clot in DT Shaun Rogers' left calf is not season-ending in nature.

A change in medication has helped Rogers deal with the blood clot better than originally expected. "We're just going to hang on as well as we can," said Coughlin. "There is a chance he can come back and play."

Coach Tom Coughlin indicated that the blood clot in DT Shaun Rogers' leg is a season-ending injury.

It's bad luck for a player who had shown renewed commitment by dropping 50 pounds since the start of the offseason. With Marvin Austin (back) and Chris Canty (knee) also sidelined, the Giants' depth up front has taken a hit. Turning 34 in March, Rogers may have played his last NFL snap.

Giants DT Shaun Rogers is sidelined with a blood clot in his leg.

It's unclear how long he'll be sidelined. Drawing anything but rave reviews, Rogers' roster spot will be in grave danger if his absence is prolonged.

Giants DT Shaun Rogers lost around 50 pounds between OTAs and training camp.

It's a sign that Rogers is committed to making the 53-man roster. The problem is that the rapid weight loss has left him a little weak and the Giants are incredibly deep along the defensive line. At age 33, Rogers is a shell of his former self.

The New York Post says DT Shaun Rogers is already looking like a "failed experiment" for the Giants.

Rogers, 33, has missed all of minicamp due to a mysterious elbow condition. He's not talking about the injury and not guaranteeing he'll be ready for training camp. Rogers is behind Chris Canty, Linval Joseph, Marvin Austin and perhaps even Rocky Bernard at defensive tackle.

Giants signed DT Shaun Rogers, formerly of the Saints.

Beat writer Mike Garafolo had heard the Giants were "nosing around" Albert Haynesworth as well. Expectations for the 33-year-old Rogers should be low after he flamed out in New Orleans last season, playing less than a third of the defensive snaps. He'll provide depth up front in New York, so the Giants can concentrate on other positions in the draft.

The Saints are letting free agent DL Shaun Rogers and Aubrayo Franklin hit the open market.

Making $4 million, Rogers was bust in his first season in New Orleans, tallying just 22 tackles and zero sacks. Franklin was even less productive, making 17 tackles in a part-time role. If Rogers is back, it will be at a cheaper price.

The Saints only used DT Shaun Rogers for 15 snaps in Thursday night's NFL opener.

Out of their comfort zone after falling behind early, the Saints resorted to a three-man line of Mitch King, Aubrayo Franklin (zero pass-rush ability), and Sedrick Ellis. Pro Football Focus counted just seven QB hurries in 125 pass-rush attempts from New Orleans. Of course, Rogers didn't get pressure on his plays, either. The good news for the Saints is that they'll usually play with the lead this season. They were overmatched against Green Bay.

Coach Sean Payton envisions Shaun Rogers as more of a nose tackle than a three-technique tackle.

Rogers would seem more suited to the three-technique considering his ability to collapse the pocket, but the Saints will keep Sedrick Ellis in that role. Rogers will eat into Remi Ayodele's snaps instead.

Saints agreed to terms with DT Shaun Rogers on a one-year, $4 million contract.

The Big Baby is headed to the Big Easy. Rogers reportedly turned down a $6 million offer to sign close to his Houston home while joining a contender. Though he can still play the nose, Rogers' ideal fit is as a three-technique pocket-collapsing gap shooter next to a run-plugging tackle, such as the Saints' Sedrick Ellis. If he's motivated and in shape come August, Rogers will give coordinator Gregg Williams a difference-maker up front.

According to ESPN's Adam Schefter, free agent DL Shaun Rogers does not have any more visits scheduled, for now.

Rogers has already met with the Chiefs, Redskins, and Saints. The veteran is free to sign with any team up until March 4th, after which point he won't be allowed to ink a deal until a new collective bargaining agreement is in place. Upwards of 10 teams have reportedly expressed interest in the former Brown.

Shaun Rogers revealed Wednesday morning that New Orleans is the next stop on his free agent tour.

Rogers has visited the Chiefs and Redskins so far. With upwards of a dozen teams interested, he doesn't appear to be in any hurry to sign. Rogers would likely slide in next to Sedrick Ellis at defensive tackle in the Saints' 4-3 scheme if he chooses the Big Easy.

Free agent DL Shaun Rogers indicated Tuesday that he played through injuries last season against the advice of his agent.

"I would just hope that my track record would speak for itself," said Rogers. "I think I did alright with what I was asked to do." Rogers started slowly in September coming off a leg fracture and later played through an ankle injury. He told a radio station in Houston that signing with his hometown Texans would be "definitely a fairy tale situation."

The Chiefs reportedly hosted free agent DL Shaun Rogers on Tuesday.

Rogers also met with the Redskins last Friday. Reports have suggested that at least 10-12 teams have contacted Rogers, so it could be another couple of weeks before he signs. Rogers would likely play the nose in the Chiefs' 3-4 scheme if he chooses Kansas City.
