The Texans will continue to start Nick Ferguson at free safety over Will Demps.

Ferguson and Eugene Wilson played well together Sunday, but that may have had more to do with Ryan Fitzpatrick quarterbacking for the opposition. Consider Ferguson and Wilson the starters at safety for now.

Texans signed SS Nick Ferguson to a one-year contract.

Ferguson, 33, has struggled with injuries the past two years. He also hasn't been all that productive when he has played. If Houston expects Ferguson to battle Glenn Earl for a backup job behind C.C. Brown, our money's on Earl.

Broncos safety Nick Ferguson has been a surprise full participant in OTAs this week after tearing his meniscus last season.

Ferguson was reportedly limping so badly after the surgery that teammates started calling him Barbaro and put a picture of the horse with Ferguson's jersey number in the locker room. The Denver Post has confirmed that safety Nick Ferguson will be lost for the season due to a medial meniscus tear in his left knee.

Curome Cox, who has made 11 tackles all year, is expected to be the Broncos' new starting strong safety. Denver loses a lot of experience and depth with both Ferguson and Sam Brandon on injured reserve. Hamza Abdullah will be the third safety. Ferguson is expected to be recovered in two-to-three months, so he should be ready for OTAs in 2007.
