Former Chiefs and Broncos WR Ashley Lelie retired from football.
Lelie has accepted a quality control coach position at the University of Nevada. The 19th overall pick in the 2002 draft, Lelie lasted seven seasons in the NFL. His best two came in 2004 and 2005 in Mike Shanahan's Denver offenses, when Lelie led the league in yards per reception both years. His career ends with 217 catches, 3,749 yards, and 15 touchdowns. Lelie never made a Pro Bowl. Tue, Apr 2, 2013 08:26:00 PM

Chiefs released WR Ashley Lelie.

The 29-year-old was productive in the preseason, but K.C. opted for Mark Bradley and Terrance Copper instead. Lelie may be running out of chances.

Ashley Lelie caught four balls for 52 yards to lead the team on Saturday against the Seahawks.

Lelie did all his work against Seattle's back-ups as he is trying to nail down a job behind Dwayne Bowe, Devard Darling, Bobby Engram, and Amani Toomer.

Chiefs signed WR Ashley Lelie.

Lelie is strictly a situational deep threat at this point in his career, and he's not guaranteed to make the final roster. The signing, along with Amani Toomer's, is an indictment of Mark Bradley and Devard Darling. Don't expect consistent fantasy value out of any Chiefs receiver save Dwayne Bowe.

The Chiefs reportedly worked out free agent WR Ashley Lelie following Thursday's practice.

This comes just a week after signing Amani Toomer. The Chiefs are clearly not satisfied with their underwhelming options behind Dwayne Bowe. We'd steer clear of Mark Bradley and Bobby Engram in upcoming drafts.

Beat writer Ed Bouchette believes that the Steelers' pre-draft visit with free agent Ashley Lelie was only a "look-see."

Lelie could challenge current third wideout Limas Sweed, but Bouchette doesn't see him getting signed. For some reason Lelie is still listed as a Raider by the slow-to-act folks at Raiders.com. He's actually a free agent.

The Steelers met with free agent WR Ashley Lelie on Monday.

Lelie would fill the deep threat role left vacant after Nate Washington signed with the Titans. The Steelers are clearly not going to just hand the third receiver role to Limas Sweed without making him earn it.

Presumably as fallback plans if they don't sign Laveranues Coles, the Bengals have set up visits for free agents Ashley Lelie and Mike Furrey.

Both receivers knows the route calls Cincinnati uses after playing under Mike Martz, who has similar terminology. Lelie caught 11 passes in '08.

Raiders placed WR Ashley Lelie on injured reserve, ending his season. They activated TE Darrell Strong to replace him.

It was no surprise that Lelie couldn't turn around his sagging career in Oakland. He caught eleven passes for 197 yards and two scores after signing in September, which was actually more productive than Javon Walker. Lelie is unlikely to be back in Oakland, and may be running out of pro chances.

Ashley Lelie (calf, doubtful) missed Raiders practice again Friday.

Lelie will be in street clothes as Johnnie Lee Higgins starts on Sunday.

Lelie's spot will be taken by Johnnie Lee Higgins in Week 16.

Ashley Lelie (calf) was held out of Raiders practice Wednesday.

His status for Week 16 against the Texans isn't known at this time.

Raiders WR Ashley Lelie is due back from his head injury in Week 15.

Persistent headaches caused Lelie to be inactive last Thursday night against San Diego. He has 11 catches for 197 yards and two TDs this season.

Ashley Lelie will be inactive on Thursday night against the Chargers, according to NFL Network's Adam Schefter.

Lelie has been plagued by persistent headaches, possibly stemming from a concussion. The Raiders are expected to have Ronald Curry (ankle), but it remains to be seen who will start across from him. The options are rookie Chaz Schilens, special teamer Johnnie Lee Higgins, and Todd Watkins. JaMarcus Russell is unlikely to have success even against San Diego's porous secondary.

The Raiders listed Ashley Lelie as questionable for Thursday night's game due to persistent headaches. Lelie did not practice Wednesday.

Presumably, he suffered a concussion in Week 13. Lelie figures to be a game-time decision at San Diego. He's not even close to a fantasy option.
