A first-round pick of the Broncos in 2003, Foster hasn't appeared in a game since 2008, though he did spend last preseason with the Saints. A certified bust, Foster is unlikely to go from camp body to roster surprise for Indy.

Jon Jansen, who agreed to terms on Friday, hasn't passed his physical yet, but the Lions must be confident that he will. Foster has been so bad in pass protection that he may have a tough time finding another job.

Lions re-signed OT George Foster to a one-year contract.

Foster has been downright awful as a pass-blocker the past two seasons. The Lions aren't viewing him as anything more than a backup at both tackle and guard.

The Bengals hosted OL George Foster for a free agent visit Thursday.

Foster, who's being viewed as a backup at both guard and tackle by the club, struggled badly in Detroit the past two seasons. He turns 29 in July.

Lions RT George Foster was benched again on Sunday.

This was commonplace for him last year, mostly due to an insane amount of false starts. Sunday, Aaron Kampman beat him for two sacks. Gosder Cherilus finally got in, and on his first play Detroit ran behind him for a gain of two.

Lions agreed to terms with OT George Foster on a one-year contract.

Asked to pass block frequently in Mike Martz's offense at right tackle last year, Foster floundered and eventually lost his job to Damien Woody. Through the first ten weeks, he led the NFL in false starts and yielded 9.5 sacks.

Lions RT George Foster leads the NFL in false start penalties with nine this season. He has yielded 9.5 sacks, second most of any tackle in the league.

Foster has also been benched countless times this year, and was again Sunday even though his primary backup, Jonathan Scott (thumb) was out. Look for a big game from Packers LE Aaron Kampman this upcoming week.

Foster, who tallied his ninth false start this season and was bothered by an injured right ankle, has been benched in favor of Jonathan Scott throughout the season.

George Foster was benched late in Sunday's game for the second straight week.

"They just said they were going to give Jonathan [Scott] some reps,'' Foster said. "I just asked and that's what they told me. I asked if I did anything wrong and they said 'No.'"

Initially said to be benched in favor of Jonathan Scott, offensive coordinator Mike Martz said Thursday that George Foster will start in Week 5.

According to the Detroit News, Foster "is on notice," which is perhaps similar to double-secret probation.

George Foster has been benched in favor of Jonathan Scott, who will start at right tackle Sunday.

Scott replaced Foster in the third quarter of Week 4 after Foster committed his sixth false-start penalty of the season and gave up a sack.
