Jason Witten wasn't targeted in the Cowboys' Week 13 win over the Vikings.
Witten actually did snag a pass, but it was called back by a Cowboys penalty. The catch-less effort was his first since Nov. 16, 2008, a span of 130 games. Stunning. Witten will enter Week 14 with 70 yards over his past three games. He'll be a low-upside TE2 against the Giants. Dec 2 - 12:00 AM

Date:

Jason Witten caught 3-of-3 targets for 33 yards in the Cowboys' Week 12 win over the Redskins.

He was kept quiet much of the afternoon, going into halftime with one catch for four yards. The Redskins had previously been getting shredded by tight ends, but Witten wasn't able to continue the assault. He still provides a nice, safe floor and will be on the TE1 map next week on the road at the Vikings.
Nov 24 - 8:10 PM

Jason Witten caught 5-of-7 targets for 37 yards in the Cowboys' Week 11 win over the Ravens.

Witten was again targeted in the end zone in this one, but he and Dak Prescott didn't appear to be on the same page on the play as it fell incomplete. Witten's floor is safe, which keeps him in the every-week TE1 discussion. He'll get the Redskins in Week 12. Witten went 3-51 against them in Week 2.
Nov 20 - 8:06 PM

Jason Witten pulled in six-of-eight targets for 59 yards Sunday in the Cowboys' Week 10 win over the Steelers.

Witten didn’t put up huge stats but he made two heads-up plays on the Cowboys’ game-winning drive. Dak Prescott targeted Witten in the open field but rather than wasting a timeout by catching it, Witten let the ball fall harmlessly to the turf. Later on the same drive he caught a short pass along the right sideline. Witten couldn’t get out of bounds, but stayed upright long enough to draw a 15-yard facemask penalty. Witten has caught 14-of-18 targets for 193 yards over his last two games, so he’s starting to come around. Consider him a borderline TE1 against Baltimore next week.
Nov 13 - 9:28 PM

Jason Witten caught 8-of-10 targets for 134 yards and a touchdown Week 9 against the Browns.

This was a shockingly productive game from Witten. The 100-yard game was his first since Week 17 of 2013, and he topped 130 yards for only the seventh time in his illustrious career. He also scored his second touchdown in as many games after scoring one touchdown total in 21 games before last week. Witten will face a tougher test next week in Pittsburgh, but he is playing his way back into the TE1 conversation.
Nov 6 - 3:58 PM

Jason Witten caught 2-of-3 targets for 16 yards and a touchdown in Dallas' Week 8 win over the Eagles.

Witten came into Sunday night questionable with a chest injury, but played every snap. He was left wide open for a game-winning five-yard touchdown in overtime. Witten's targets were down with Dez Bryant back, but he remains one of Dallas' top red-zone threats. Witten has a startable matchup with Cleveland in Week 9.
Oct 31 - 1:44 AM

Jason Witten (chest) is questionable for Week 8 against the Eagles.

The Cowboys have an interesting definition of "questionable" as Witten practiced fully all week. Witten hasn't missed a game since 2003 and he's not going to miss Sunday night's game against the division-rival Eagles. In a tough matchup, he's best viewed as a mid-range TE2.
Oct 28 - 3:41 PM

Jason Witten caught 4-of-8 targets for 42 yards Week 6 against the Packers.

The definition of low upside, Witten has failed to top 70 yards this season and has yet to find the end zone. He does not need to be held through the bye, and he will not be a great streaming option in a tough matchup against the Eagles Week 8.
Oct 16 - 8:27 PM

Jason Witten is listed on the Week 6 injury report with a chest injury, but is practicing in full.

It's a non-issue for his Week 6 status. Witten saw just five targets last week, but is on the streaming radar against Green Bay's injured secondary.
Oct 12 - 8:44 PM

Jason Witten caught 3-of-5 targets for 43 yards in the Cowboys' Week 5 win over the Bengals.

Witten is a solid possession target for Dak Prescott, but he isn't scoring touchdowns or making big plays. Even in a plus matchup on paper, Witten will be a low-ceiling TE1 streamer when the Cowboys take on the Packers next.
Oct 9 - 7:38 PM

Jason Witten caught 7-of-9 targets for 47 yards in the Cowboys' Week 4 win over San Francisco.

Witten's nine targets tied Brice Butler for the team lead in a game where Cole Beasley (four targets) was surprisingly quiet. Witten is a high-percentage safety valve for Dak Prescott, but his big-play ability is nonexistent at age 34, and Witten has yet to hit pay dirt this season. He'll be a low-ceiling TE1 option in Week 5 against the Bengals, who do struggle versus tight ends.
Oct 2 - 7:48 PM

Jason Witten caught two passes for 25 yards in Week 3.

Witten mostly blocked with Dallas playing with a lead. He came close to a touchdown in the first quarter, but was ruled down at the one-yard line. Witten’s two targets were a season low. He’s a back-end TE1 for Week 4.
Sep 26 - 12:22 AM

Jason Witten caught 3-of-4 targets for 51 yards in the Cowboys' Week 2 win over the Redskins.

It was a slight letdown following Witten's 14-target opener, but he remains a big part of the Cowboys' offense and a safety valve for rookie Dak Prescott. Witten gets a tougher Week 3 matchup against the Bears, who are strong at inside linebacker. He will be on the TE1 borderline in fantasy for that game.
Sep 18 - 4:51 PM

Jason Witten caught 9-of-14 targets for 66 yards in Dallas' Week 1 loss to the Giants.

Witten could have had a 10-catch day, but lost a ball from Dak Prescott in the sun. Witten drew nearly triple the targets of Dez Bryant. Prescott was playing it safe, checking down time and again. Witten should remain a target hog against the Redskins in Week 2.
Sep 11 - 8:12 PM

Cowboys restructured Jason Witten's contract.

Dallas converted $5.5 million of Witten's $6.5 million base salary into a signing bonus. The move does not cost Witten any money, but it will lower his cap charge by $2.75 million. The veteran should remain a steady cog in the passing game this season.
