Arizona rookie DT Robert Nkemdiche could make his first appearance since Week 1 on Monday when the Cardinals host the New York Jets.
Nkemdiche has been inactive since Week 1 while attempting to recover from an ankle issue and learning Arizona's defensive scheme. "Oh, he’s more than physically capable. It’s just a matter of knowing your assignments and staying on-side," said Cardinals coach Bruce Arians. Arizona is third among NFL defenses in sacks through five games and would get a boost with Nkemdiche in the fold. The Cardinals D/ST is a fine fantasy start this week at home against Ryan Fitzpatrick and the Jets. Oct 14 - 7:11 PM

The Arizona defense allowed 208 rushing yards to the Buffalo Bills in Week 3, and are 28th in NFL run defense through three weeks.

The Arizona Republic notes that the Bills used misdirection runs to take advantage of Arizona's speed and lack of discipline, something other teams have likely taken note of early in the season. Arizona will face Rams RB Todd Gurley in Week 4 as they look to improve against the ground game. The Cardinals D/ST will be a top-10 fantasy option at home against Rams QB Case Keenum.
Sep 29 - 5:42 PM

The Cardinals D/ST will face an understaffed Patriots offense on Sunday night as TE Rob Gronkowski (hamstring), T Nate Solder (hamstring), and RG Jonathan Cooper (foot) have all been ruled out.

These injury developments are in addition to the absence of New England QB Tom Brady, leaving the Arizona defense staring at a fantastic matchup. The Cardinals D/ST should be considered a top-shelf option in fantasy leagues of all sizes in Week 1.
Sep 10 - 11:59 AM

The Arizona defense has forced 11 turnovers in the last three weeks.

The Cardinals D/ST will look to continue its recent turnover binge on Sunday when the Seattle Seahawks come to town. The Seattle offense is just 27th among NFL teams in turnovers this season, but did give the ball away three times in a Week 16 loss to St. Louis. The matchup isn't great, but the Cardinals D/ST is still a startable fantasy option at home in Week 17.
Jan 2 - 3:21 AM

The Cardinals defense will play without DB Tyrann Mathieu for the first time this season when the Green Bay Packers visit Arizona in Week 16.

Mathieu tore his ACL last week at Philadelphia and is done for the season. The loss hurts the Arizona defense that has been slumping against the pass recently, allowing 667 passing yards in the last two weeks. The big play ability of Mathieu will be missed as well as he had five interceptions on the season prior to the injury. Even without Mathieu, the Cardinals D/ST will be a back-end top-12 fantasy option this week at home against Green Bay.

The Arizona Cardinal have held six of their last seven opponents under 100 rushing yards.

The Cardinals contained Adrian Peterson and Todd Gurley over the last two weeks, and will face the Philadelphia Eagles in Week 15. Chip Kelly's offense has run successfully in two recent wins, with the Philadelphia backfield work split among multiple backs. This matchup should be a good test for the Cardinals D/ST that is a back-end top-10 fantasy option on the road against the Eagles.

Arizona will host the Minnesota Vikings on Thursday night, who managed just 125 total yards of offense in Week 13.

The Vikings are fifth among NFL teams in rushing offense, but check-in at just 30th in total yardage, illustrating the team's inability to move the ball through the air. Week 13 was particularly painful for this offense, as Seattle bottled up Adrian Peterson which prevented Minnesota from moving the ball at all. Arizona, who like Seattle is a top-five run defense, will attempt to keep Peterson contained for a second-straight week. The Cardinals D/ST is a top-tier fantasy option in Week 14.

The Arizona defense gets a favorable Week 13 matchup at St. Louis, who will be led by struggling quarterback Nick Foles.

Foles gets the start this week with Case Keenum still in the NFL's concussion protocol. Last week, Foles tossed a trio of interceptions and now has seven touchdown passes and nine interceptions on the season. Incredibly, Foles has thrown for more than 200 yards in only three of ten games this season and provides a cushy fantasy matchup for the Cardinals D/ST this week.

The Arizona defense will face 49ers QB Blaine Gabbert in Week 12 when they travel to San Francisco.

Gabbert has done a reasonable job at quarterback since taking over for Colin Kaepernick, but the San Francisco offense has averaged just 312 total yards and 15 points per game with Gabbert under center. The Cardinals D/ST has allowed 73 total points over the last two weeks but will be a top Week 12 fantasy option due to the advantageous matchup.

The Arizona Cardinals will host the Cincinnati Bengals in Week 11, who registered their worst offensive performance of the season in Week 10.

The Bengals managed just two field goals in Week 10, to go with season-lows in passing, rushing, and total yards. The Arizona defense is tied for first among NFL teams in interceptions in 2015, and will look to take advantage of Cincinnati QB Andy Dalton, who completed just 22 of 38 passes in Week 10 with no touchdowns and one interception. The Cardinals D/ST will be a top-10 fantasy option in Week 11 at home.

Fox Sports Arizona lists the ability to "slow down Jimmy Graham" as a key to Week 10 for the Arizona defense.

Arizona has been solid against the pass in 2015 and is tied for the NFL lead in interceptions with 13. Graham leads Seattle in all major receiving categories, so keeping the big tight end in check would be a big win for the Cardinals in this important NFC West matchup. The Cardinals D/ST is a top-10 option in Week 10 on the road against Seattle, who ranks 19th among NFL teams in total yards per game.
Sat, Nov 14, 2015 02:13:00 AM

The Arizona defense is tied for the NFL lead in interceptions, picking off 13 passes through eight games.

The Cardinals are on bye in Week 9, but will look to continue their ball hawking ways in Week 10 when they visit Seattle. Fantasy owners should give strong consideration to keeping the Cardinals D/ST through the bye week, as the group has chipped in solid fantasy contributions through creating turnovers.
Thu, Nov 5, 2015 01:31:00 AM

The Arizona defense will be without CB Jerraud Powers (hamstring) on Sunday, giving CB Justin Bethel his first career start.

The Arizona D/ST will still be a top Week 8 fantasy option despite a new starting corner back opposite Patrick Peterson. The Cardinals are seventh among NFL teams in pass defense, allowing 223.7 yards per game and have a nice matchup this week against Cleveland quarterback Josh McCown, who is nursing an injured shoulder.
Fri, Oct 30, 2015 01:59:00 AM

The Arizona D/ST will look to bounce back from a disappointing effort in Week 6 when they host the Baltimore Ravens on Monday night.

The Cardinals coughed up 168 yards and two scores on 12 attempts to Pittsburgh third-string quarterback Landry Jones last week, in a tough performance for a defensive group that has largely been a fantasy force this season. Despite the setback, the Arizona D/ST can be trusted as a top-five option on Monday night against Baltimore and Joe Flacco, who has thrown seven interceptions this season.
Sat, Oct 24, 2015 03:40:00 PM

The Arizona defense will get linebacker Dwight Freeney involved in Week 6 after signing the veteran this week.

The Cardinals D/ST has been a productive group in fantasy leagues this season despite being tied for 24th in the NFL with eight sacks through five weeks. Freeney will help give Arizona a boost in the pass rush department and is further reason to safely start the Cardinals D/ST in fantasy leagues this week when they face Michael Vick and the Pittsburgh Steelers.
