Free agent OG Pete Kendall says he is still interested in playing this season.
"We've had some conversations with some teams," he said. "But at this point no one seems to be willing to bring me in a week into camp." Kendall is 36 and has little left, but could help someone in a backup center/guard role. Sun, Aug 9, 2009 03:37:00 PM

The Redskins have made G Pete Kendall their next free agent target.

"He's my next phone call," Jim Zorn said. Kendall would return as a No. 3 guard and No. 2 center. He'd probably rather find a starting job elsewhere.

The consensus at the Redskins first personnel meetings of the offseason was that the team needs to upgrade at both guard spots as well as right tackle.

Neither 2008 third-round guard Chad Rinehart nor tackle Stephon Heyer are viewed as capable starters, and there's little room in the budget for free agent upgrades. Aging guards Pete Kendall and Randy Thomas will likely return at cheap rates with the team hoping to grab a right tackle in the first round of the draft. If Jason Campbell is going to turn the corner in '09, he's going to need considerable improvement up front.

Contract-year G Pete Kendall hopes to return to the Redskins in 2008.

Kendall turns 36 next July, but could return on a one-year deal. He's been a solid starter since coming from the Jets in a 2007 trade. The Skins don't have a replacement for him in waiting, but have to get younger on the line.

Redskins acquired G Pete Kendall from the Jets in exchange for a fourth-round pick in 2009.

Kendall got a $1 million raise upon agreeing to the trade. Washington may be giving up too much for the 34-year-old, but the Redskins can undoubtedly use him. Their experiment with Todd Wade and Mike Pucillo at left guard has not been successful. Kendall's addition opposite Randy Thomas gives the 'Skins possibly the best guard tandem in the NFC East.

The Jets were reportedly close to trading G Pete Kendall Wednesday night.

Kendall is expected to receive the $1 million raise he craves from the new team. An announcement is expected this morning. The Jets reportedly plan to turn to Adrien Clarke and rookie Jacob Bender at the left guard position.

The Jets reportedly plan to keep OL Pete Kendall this season.

No surprise; Kendall is one of the team's most proven and best blockers. He'll probably regain his starting status at left guard before the season.

The Jets used disgruntled guard Pete Kendall at center in Sunday's practice.

"I thought the organization already decided how well I played center," said Kendall, who hadn't played there since the last 10 games in 2005. It seems like the Jets might just be deliberately playing with the emotions of Kendall at this point.

Pete Kendall is expected to report to training camp Wednesday.

Kendall hasn't received a pay raise like he wants, but he also doesn't want to face daily fines by missing practice. He might be a pain for the Jets in the media, but he still seems likely to stay on the team.
Tue, Jul 24, 2007 12:41:00 PM

Jets G Pete Kendall is accusing the team of leaking information about him and branding him a "locker-room lawyer."

Grady Jackson did the same with Atlanta, then filed suit. Kendall still wants to be traded or released. He's seeking a $1 million raise for this season.

Pete Kendall said he wants to be cut or traded from the Jets, but he showed up to minicamp Thursday.

Kendall was planning to slam the organization, but his words weren't so dramatic on Thursday. He feels the Jets have been unprofessional, but they hold all the cards. Kendall says he may hold out of training camp.
