Patriots signed OT Anthony Clement, formerly of the Jets.

The Jets and Pats usually wait until in-season to sign each other's former players, but New England couldn't resist. Clement has bounced around, but started 16 games last season for the Jets and provides experience at a weak spot for the Patriots. He's got a decent chance to make the team.

Jets released T Anthony Clement.

With the signing of Damien Woody, Clement became expendable after starting 33 games at right tackle for New York. He was only only due slightly more than the veterans' minimum, so it's unlikely he'll be back.

The Jets will allow free agents Anthony Clement, their starting right tackle in 2006, and B.J. Askew, a fullback, to hit the free agent market.

New York has been digging for a "thumper" at fullback since last year and could explore Ovie Mughelli in free agency or Alabama's Le'Ron McClain in the draft. It's uncertain who'll replace Clement at right tackle.

Anthony Clement will be the Jets' starting right tackle in 2006.
