Former Broncos, Bucs, and Cardinals RB Michael Pittman is serving as a coaching intern at Redskins training camp.
Now 35, Pittman appears to have given up hope of continuing his NFL career after playing for the UFL's Florida Tuskers last year. A fourth-round pick in 1998, Pittman played 11 seasons, mostly with Tampa Bay. He finished as the No. 16 fantasy back in 2004, accumulating 1,317 total yards and 10 all-purpose TDs. Pittman will be remembered most for his hulking biceps. Fri, Jul 30, 2010 04:56:00 PM

Ex-Bucs RB Michael Pittman and ex-Bengals LB Odell Thurman will play for the Florida Huskers of the UFL.

Koren Robinson and Chris Perry are also slated to play for the Jim Haslett-coached squad. At age 34, Pittman's NFL career is likely over.

Free agent Michael Pittman has reportedly reached out to the Bucs about a roster spot.

The Bucs are set at tailback with Earnest Graham, Clifton Smith, and Cadillac behind Derrick Ward. It could be a fit if Pittman is willing to play fullback.

Free agent Michael Pittman is "ready to play" after missing most of 2008 with a neck injury, according to his player rep Drew Rosenhaus.

Of Pittman's king-sized biceps, Rosenhaus adds "his arms are as big as ever." Only the Raiders have expressed interest in Pittman this offseason, and they viewed him as a fullback. There are much better landing spots if Pittman wants to remain a ball carrier. Seattle and Cleveland come to mind.

The Raiders have expressed interest in free agent Michael Pittman.

Oakland views Pittman as a fullback and is also looking at Lorenzo Neal, who is older but has far more lead-blocking experience. This seems to indicate that Michael Bush smartly is no longer considered a fullback option.

Broncos RBs Michael Pittman and Tatum Bell will be allowed to enter the free agent market.

Neither player is likely to return to Denver. Pittman, 34, may catch on elsewhere as a backfield jack-of-all-trades, but Bell will have a hard time finding work this offseason.

Michael Pittman says he's already fully recovered from the neck injury that cut his 2008 season eight games short.

Pittman, who started three games and averaged 4.2 YPC before the injury, will hit free agency at age 33. His best chance for playing time is in Denver as it stands, but the Broncos are unlikely to hand him a significant role again.

Broncos placed Michael Pittman (ribs, neck) and Andre Hall (hand) on injured reserve, ending their seasons.

We'll see plenty of Ryan Torain now. Pittman was a godsend for the Broncos, stabilizing a weak RB crew with tough running and versatile play. He finishes the year with 432 total yards and a 4.2 yards-per-carry average to go with four scores. Pittman's career is year-to-year, but the Broncos may invite him back to camp in 2009. Torain and Selvin Young are the last men standing; We'd pick up Torain first, but both are worth grabbing.

Michael Pittman will undergo an MRI on his neck Monday.

The results should give the Broncos' coaching staff an idea of whether Pittman could be ready for the team's Thursday night game. He aggravated a neck stinger in the first half Sunday and wasn't able to finish the game.

Michael Pittman aggravated a neck stinger injury in the Broncos' loss to Miami and is uncertain to play Thursday night at Cleveland.

With less time than usual to heal, Pittman is very much in danger of missing Week 10. "I don’t know if I’m going to play next week or when I’m going to play," he said. "I’m very frustrated right now. I’ve just got to find out what’s really wrong with me." Pittman was questionable for Week 9 with a ribs injury, not a neck problem. Ryan Torain didn't play well Sunday, but is Denver's healthiest back at the moment and should be owned in all leagues.

Michael Pittman gained just four yards on seven carries and caught two passes for 21 yards in Denver's Week 9 loss to Miami.

We knew the Dolphins were improved against the run, but we didn't know they were this good. Pittman was completely bottled up every time he took a hand-off. He will be a better flex play against Cleveland in Week 10.

Michael Pittman is active Sunday against the Dolphins.

He is expected to start, but may only see 12-15 touches while sharing carries with Ryan Torain and is a weak fantasy play because of a difficult matchup.

In a classic Mike Shanahan move, the Broncos have listed all four of their tailbacks as "questionable" for Week 9 against Miami.

Michael Pittman (ribs), Selvin Young (groin), Andre Hall (wrist, ankle), and Ryan Torain (elbow) are all sporting Q tags. Pittman is the only one we are confident will play, as he practiced in full all week. He is in line to start the game and is a low-level RB2 option. Who backs Pittman up will be a game-time decision in a matchup that has a 4:05PM ET start.

Michael Pittman (ribs) was a full participant in practice again Thursday.

Pittman will start against Miami and is a decent flex play. It's uncertain who his backup will be.

Michael Pittman (ribs) was a full participant in Broncos practice Wednesday.

The Denver Post reported Tuesday that bruised ribs could land Pittman on the Week 9 injury report as questionable, but that's unlikely assuming he continues to work all week. As it stands, Pittman is on track to start Sunday in a below average matchup against Miami, which is surrendering only 3.7 yards per carry and has allowed only five rushing TDs this season.
