The Rams have reportedly "looked at" free agent WR Brian Finneran.
Not exactly the tall receiver Sam Bradford had in mind. Now 35, Finneran has little value beyond special teams. The Rams go at least seven deep at wide receiver now, so it's tough to see where Finneran would fit. Wed, Jul 27, 2011 11:38:00 PM

Free agent Brian Finneran intends to test the market after the Falcons informed him that he's no longer in their plans.

Finneran spoke with "a few" teams before the lockout. He may get a look as a special teamer and fifth-receiver candidate, but he'll have stiff competition wherever he lands. The 35-year-old may have played his last down in the NFL.

The Falcons have reportedly decided not to re-sign free agents WR Brian Finneran and CB Brian Williams.

The 35-year-old Finneran has done well to hang on to a third- or fourth-receiver role through multiple knee injuries with the Falcons since the 2000 season. Atlanta will target a more explosive replacement after Finneran averaged just 149 yards the past three years. Williams, 32 in July, held his own as a nickelback last year. The Falcons will look to get younger at the position.

Brian Finneran caught three passes for 24 yards on five targets in Week 9 against the Buccaneers.

He's on an NFL roster? Jokes aside, it's nice to see the veteran make a cameo, though he's not going to do enough to be fantasy relevant.

Brian Finneran stepped in as the first-team wideout across from Roddy White in Tuesday's practice.

All hail the NFL's latest "Rasputin." The 34-year-old Finneran has gone from the roster bubble to possible opening-day starter, thanks to Michael Jenkins' shoulder injury. Rookie Kerry Meier is also getting some first-team snaps with Harry Douglas (knee) sitting out Tuesday's practice.

Falcons re-signed WR Brian Finneran to a one-year contract.

The 34-year-old's season ended early with a torn left PCL after catching only 11 passes. A mainstay with the Falcons since 2000, Finneran will be no better than the fourth receiver and is not guaranteed to make the final roster.

Falcons placed WR Brian Finneran on injured reserve with a torn left PCL, ending his season.

He won't need surgery, but his knee woes have become chronic. With a long injury history and not much production in his recent resume, the 34-year-old (in January) won't have much of a 2010 market. He's a free agent this spring.

Brian Finneran left Sunday's loss to the Saints in the third quarter with a knee injury.

Finneran finished the day with two catches for 25 yards. At age 33, Finneran's constant knee problems could be leading him to the end of the line.

Brian Finneran (knee) "should be a go" for this week's game against the Eagles, according to coach Mike Smith.

Finneran hasn't played since Week 9. He's used sparingly in the passing game behind Roddy White and Michael Jenkins.

Brian Finneran (knee) will not play on Sunday against the Bucs.

Finneran injured his knee in Week 9 and has not played since then. The injury is not thought to be serious, but he was expected to be playing on it by now. Roddy White and Michael Jenkins will handle most receiver duties, as usual.

Brian Finneran's knee injury is not expected to be serious.

There was some fear that the lightly used Finneran had damaged his surgically repaired knee again, but the injury was to his other knee. Finneran participated in Wednesday's walk-through and is considered a game-time decision for Sunday's game against the Panthers.

The Falcons don't know if Brian Finneran re-injured his right knee.

Finneran was forced out of the Week 9 win over the Redskins with a knee injury. An ACL tear in his right knee kept him out of football in 2006 and 2007. He has eight catches so far this season.

Falcons WR Brian Finneran left Sunday's game with a knee injury.

Finneran came into the game questionable with an ankle injury, but didn't appear to have trouble with that joint. The 33-year-old has torn his ACL twice before. It's unclear if the new injury is so severe.

Brian Finneran restructured his contract to stay with the Falcons.

Finneran was due $2 million in 2009, so he'll return at a reduced rate. He was the team's No. 4 receiver last season, but he could slide down the depth chart with Laurent Robinson using the offseason to get healthy.

Falcons veteran WR Brian Finneran is reportedly making a strong case to be retained.

Finneran hasn't played in two seasons after tearing the ACL in the same knee, but he's catching the ball and playing well on special teams. Rookie Harry Douglas is also impressing and could get catches out of the slot with the tight ends largely uninvolved in the offense.
