Cowboys declared KR Allen Rossum, third QB Stephen McGee, S Michael Hamlin, LB Steve Octavien, LB Jason Williams, G Montrae Holland, C Duke Prestonm, and T Pat McQuistan inactive for Week 10.

C Andre Gurode is active despite being limited in practice this week with a knee injury. Marion Barber will start at tailback. Kevin Ogletree takes over on kickoff returns because Felix Jones is slated for more offensive touches.

Cowboys declared CB Allen Rossum, OL Duke Preston, LB Jason Williams, SS Michael Hamlin, OG Montrae Holland, OT Pat McQuistan, QB Stephen McGee and LB Steve Octavien inactive for Week 9.

Rossum (hamstring) will be out at least another week. The Cowboys are relatively healthy for their Sunday night matchup with the Eagles.

Cowboys KR/PR Allen Rossum left Sunday's game with a hamstring injury and is doubtful to return.

Patrick Crayton gets his punt return job back, at least temporarily. Rossum, 34, was just signed a couple weeks ago to give the Cowboys' special teams a boost.

Cowboys agreed to terms with CB/KR Allen Rossum, formerly of the 49ers.

It took the 34-year-old one day to find work after being cut by the Niners. Rossum isn't an option at corner anymore, but should adequately replace Patrick Crayton on punt returns. Crayton is swiftly falling out of favor.

49ers beat writer Matt Maiocco thinks Allen Rossum is the favorite to return punts and kickoffs this season.

Rossum signed a one-year deal in February and is 33 years old. Other candidates to return kicks for the Niners include Delanie Walker, Michael Robinson and Micheal Spurlock - if he makes the team.

Rossum is no longer an asset on defense but is coming off a career year as a return specialist. The 33-year-old probably only has a season or two left.

49ers KR Allen Rossum (ankle) has been ruled out for Week 13.

Presumably, San Francisco will use Michael Robinson on kickoffs now. The 49ers are very unlikely to get a return touchdown against Buffalo on Sunday.

49ers KR Allen Rossum suffered an ankle sprain in the team's Week 12 loss.

Rossum's status for Week 13 is uncertain. The Niners had to insert Michael Robinson in kickoff returns Sunday and he's a much less explosive option.

Delanie Walker, who is a tight end, took over as San Francisco's primary kickoff return man. Walker isn't nearly the homerun threat Rossum can be.

The 49ers are now giving CB/KR Allen Rossum snaps at wide receiver in practices.

Rossum's body type is similar to Shaun McDonald, a formerly oft-used slot receiver in the same offense. Arnaz Battle is currently the 49ers' third receiver.

He gives the Niners a return option if Maurice Hicks leaves in free agency, which appears likely. Rossum no longer is a capable defensive player.

Steelers released CB/PR Allen Rossum.

Rossum would've only cost the Steelers $770,000 in 2008, but they have Willie Reid ready to handle punts, if he can stay healthy. It's safe to that say Rossum is no longer the fastest man in the NFL.
