Cardinals waived TE Todd Heap.
Heap entered the season as the starter, but made his way into the coaching staff's doghouse due to a slow return from a sprained PCL. Knee and hamstring injuries had limited Heap to 13 of a possible 28 games with the Cardinals since signing a two-year, $5.5 million contract after the lockout. 2011 third-rounder Rob Housler is now entrenched as the starter. Heap will have to prove his knee is sound before getting a serious look on the open market. Tue, Dec 4, 2012 01:42:00 PM

Cardinals TE Todd Heap has been inactive for 10 games in a row.

Heap's knee appears to be healthy, but he isn't moving well. Perhaps the Cards should have seen that coming with a 32-year-old that has a long history of medical woes. "He's got to show us in practice that he's full speed enough to be able to go, and that hasn't been the case," coach Ken Whisenhunt said. Athletic second-year TE Rob Housler has impressed of late, catching 17 passes over the last four games.

Coach Ken Whisenhunt spoke to TE Todd Heap (knee) for 10-15 minutes in view of the media Tuesday.

The implication is that the Cardinals are fed up with Heap missing practices and games. He's been out since Week 2 even though the Cards never seemed to think his knee injury was serious. Heap also missed six games last year due to a hamstring issue and was out for three more games during his final season as a Raven. Heap's body is failing him at age 32.

Cardinals declared TE Todd Heap, QB Kevin Kolb, WR LaRon Byrd, CB Greg Toler, LB Jamal Westerman, G Senio Kelemete, and G Adam Snyder inactive for Week 9 against the Packers.

Rob Housler and Jeff King will share tight end duties in a fantasy situation to avoid. Toler will be missed against Green Bay's four-wide sets, as the Cards will be left with frequent burn victim William Gay, rookie Jamel Fleming, and special teamer Michael Adams behind Patrick Peterson.

Todd Heap (knee) practiced on a limited basis Saturday and is officially "questionable" for Monday Night Football.

Heap continues to be limited in practice and hasn't appeared in a game since Week 2. Even when Heap returns, he'll likely be in a part-time role with Rob Housler.

Todd Heap (knee) is inactive for Sunday's game against the Vikings.

Pass-catching tight end Rob Housler draws another start, but he's not on the fantasy radar with seven catches for 105 yards and no touchdowns over the last three weeks. The rest of the Cardinals' inactives: QB Kevin Kolb, S Kerry Rhodes, CB Greg Toler, RB Anthony Sherman, LB Reggie Walker and G Senio Kelemete.

Todd Heap (knee) was limited in Wednesday's practice.

Cardinals declared TE Todd Heap, CBs Greg Toler and Michael Adams, LB Reggie Walker, and OG Senio Kelemete inactive for Week 6 against the Bills.

Heap has missed the last four weeks with a knee injury, so Rob Housler will continue to start. Toler and Adams are dealing with hamstring injuries. Ryan Lindley is the third quarterback, so John Skelton has returned and will back-up Kevin Kolb.

Cardinals declared TE Todd Heap, QB John Skelton, RB/KR La'Rod Stephens-Howling, WR LaRon Byrd, FB Reagan Maui'a, TE Jim Dray, and OL Senio Kelemete inactive for Thursday night's Week 5 game against the Rams.

That means Darnell Dockett is active. Heap has been battling a knee issue for the past month. Skelton still isn't fully recovered from his ankle sprain. Stephens-Howling is out with a hip injury, so RB William Powell will handle kick return duties.

TE Todd Heap (knee), RB/KR LaRod Stephens-Howling (hip) and DL Darnell Dockett (hamstring) are all officially listed as questionable for Week 5.

Coach Ken Whisenhunt labeled TE Todd Heap (knee), RB/KR LaRod Stephens-Howling (hip), and DL Darnell Dockett (hamstring) game-time decisions for Thursday's bout with the Rams.

Heap was upgraded to a limited practice on Tuesday. Backup Rob Housler caught two passes for 48 yards on three targets as Heap's replacement in Week 4. William Powell stood in as the kickoff returner with Stephens-Howling out.
