Texans released DE Anthony Weaver.
Weaver is only 28, but he had a flurry of offseason surgeries as a Texan and his body may be breaking down. Still, Weaver's old coordinator in Baltimore, Rex Ryan, could give him a shot with the Jets. New York wasn't pleased with the production RE Kenyon Coleman provided last season. The Texans plan to release DE Anthony Weaver, according to NFL.com's Adam Schefter.

It should happen by the end of the week. Weaver, 29 in July, proved to be a product of Baltimore's system after signing three offseasons ago. He had just one sack in 46 games as a Texan and was due a $3.5 million salary.

Texans LE Anthony Weaver (knee surgery) will play this weekend.

It was believed at one point that Weaver may have suffered a setback in his rehab, but that doesn't appear to be the case. He'll be eased back into action, but is likely to start now that Houston has traded backup Jason Babin.

Texans DE Anthony Weaver may have suffered a setback in his recovery from offseason knee surgery on Wednesday.

Weaver, who had offseason knee and shoulder surgeries, was experiencing pain in the knee during individual work. The right defensive end will miss Houston's upcoming exhibition game and it's uncertain when he'll play again.

Texans DE/DT Anthony Weaver (rotator cuff) recently underwent surgery on his knee.

Compared to his shoulder injury, the knee is a minor concern. Weaver hopes to be strength-training by midsummer and be ready for training camp. He's likely to start in 2007 if healthy.

The Texans may reportedly head to training camp with Anthony Weaver and Anthony Maddox as their projected starting defensive tackles.

Weaver, who didn't apply consistent pressure from the end spot in 2006, is recovering from rotator-cuff surgery and questionable for camp. Like last offseason, where Travis Johnson fits into the plan is uncertain.

Texans placed defensive end Anthony Weaver on injured reserve with a torn rotator cuff, ending his season.

Antwan Peek got a start last week and should again this Sunday. Weaver did not have a productive debut in Houston with just one sack and 35 total tackles. We can't see him being released after the season because he brings veteran leadership, but Weaver may be asked to restructure. He will undergo shoulder surgery in the coming weeks.

DE Anthony Weaver's contract is for five years and $26.5 million, including a $12 million signing bonus.

Texans signed DE Anthony Weaver, formerly of the Ravens.

We reported the likely deal early Saturday, but it's official now. The 25-year old reportedly will get a signing bonus over $10 million, one of the more surprising figures of the day. Weaver is a better run defender than pass rusher.

DE Anthony Weaver is expected to sign with the Texans Saturday for a deal including $13 million in guaranteed money.

That is a huge contract for a player always seen as a solid, if unspectacular, starter. The Ravens lost two of them Saturday. Weaver should help Houston's rush defense and start in the team's new 4-3 defense. Robaire Smith may move inside.

The Ravens aren't trying to re-sign DE Anthony Weaver.

Weaver has been a quality 3-4 end the last few seasons opposite Terrell Suggs but is a free agent. He may draw interest from Miami in particular.

Ravens DE Anthony Weaver may draw some interest from the Dolphins.

Any 3-4 defense looking for an experienced starter will check out Weaver. Cleveland and Pittsburgh are other teams that make sense.
