Among punters with at least 25 attempts, Zastudil ranked 17th in the league in gross punting last year, but 28th in net. The Cards may sign a priority free agent punter to compete with the 33-year-old Zastudil in training camp.

Browns waived P Dave Zastudil with an injury settlement.

Zastudil was still bothered this summer by a torn right patella tendon that was repaired last season. The Browns will go forward with Reggie Hodges, who is averaging 43.8 yards per punt.

Browns placed P Dave Zastudil (right knee) on injured reserve, ending his season.

Zastudil underwent surgery last season to repair a torn patella tendon, and his knee continued to bother him throughout training camp. His Browns career could be over as he's due to hit free agency in 2011. Reggie Hodges will handle punting chores this year.

Zastudil went back to the surgeon that repaired his torn patella tendon and everything checked out. The injury was to his non-punting knee.

It's believed that the procedure was to Zastudil's non-punting knee, and he hopes to be ready for Week 1. He's scheduled to make $1.415 million in a contract year.

Browns coach Eric Mangini revealed Monday that P Dave Zastudil (injured reserve) underwent knee surgery "a little while ago."

Zastudil was placed on I.R. with a groin injury in November. The surgery was to Zastudil's non-punting knee, but won't help his chances of being retained by the Browns in 2010. He's scheduled for a $1.415 million salary.

The Cleveland native and former Ohio Bobcat will give way to Reggie Hodges for the remainder of the season. A new front office will decide in the offseason whether the 31-year-old punter is worth his $1.415M salary for 2010.

Punter Dave Zastudil suffered a left shoulder injury during the game, leaving backup quarterback Kordell Stewart to take over punting duties.

We have a Kordell Stewart sighting! He had five punts for a 35.4 yard average and even landed two of them inside the 20. Not only did he pick up the most yards he has in years, he may have found a new job.
