Cleveland signed veteran WR Sam Aiken.

The former Patriot was signed to add roster depth to a receiving unit that will be playing a gimpy Josh Cribbs, and will be without starter Brian Robiskie (hamstring) for at least Week 3. Like most Browns, keep Aiken far away from your fantasy team.

Patriots released WR Sam Aiken.

Aiken lost his gunner job on special teams early in camp. Despite a few flashes of promise at receiver early last season, he killed the Pats with his inability to get open in December and January.

The Boston Herald's Karen Guregian predicts that WR Sam Aiken will survive the Patriots' final round of cuts.

Guregian thinks that Julian Edelman's injury and Taylor Price's struggles will allow Aiken to stick around as the sixth receiver. Aiken is a good special teams player but will likely have no impact in the receiving game, despite the flashes he showed last year.

Patriots WR Sam Aiken appears to have lost his gunner job and is in danger of not making the roster.

Pat Chung is working as the main gunner, and Aiken isn't a good enough wideout to outlast Brandon Tate or Taylor Price. If we had to guess the Pats' five receivers today, we'd go with those two behind Randy Moss, Wes Welker, and Julian Edelman. Like Torry Holt, Aiken is on the outside looking in.

Patriots WR Sam Aiken is done for the day with a "head" injury.

Head injuries are usually concussions, which is what it looked like Aiken suffered on his collision with Ravens CB Frank Walker in the fourth quarter. Aiken, 29, signed a contract extension during the season that will keep him in New England through 2011. He is useful special teamer, but the Pats will try to upgrade over Aiken in the third receiver role this spring.

Sam Aiken (shoulder) was limited in Thursday's practice.

Aiken is uncertain for Sunday's game after missing last week's action with the shoulder injury. The Pats' third receiver is not a viable fantasy option regardless.

Sam Aiken (questionable, shoulder) was limited in Patriots practice Friday.

Aiken's status is uncertain for Sunday's game. The Panthers defend the pass far too well for New England's third receiver to be a fantasy option.

Sam Aiken (shoulder) was limited again in Thursday's practice.

Aiken is unlikely to miss this week's game, but he's not a quality fantasy option against the Panthers' strong secondary.

Sam Aiken (shoulder) was limited in Patriots practice Wednesday.

Aiken scored his first career touchdown on an 81-yard bomb last week against Miami, but isn't a fantasy option. He's questionable for Week 14.

Sam Aiken caught one pass for an 81-yard touchdown against the Dolpins in Week 13.

Julian Edelman was inactive, so Aiken had third receiver duties to himself. He out-jumped Sean Smith for a deep ball and scampered the rest of the way for the score. He nearly added another diving bomb, but he couldn't quite haul it in. Expect Aiken to remain the No. 3 receiver again next week.

Tom Brady suggested that Sam Aiken is emerging as the clear No. 3 receiver in New England.

Aiken was expected to split time with Julian Edelman, but he's emerged as the more productive player of late. Coach Bill Belichick indicated that Aiken's special teams role will have be scaled back, a sure sign that his offensive role will increase. He's worth a flier in deeper leagues.

Patriots WR Sam Aiken (hip) was limited in Thursday's practice.

Julian Edelman (arm) was also limited. With both players splitting time at third receiver, neither will have fantasy value against the Dolphins this week.

Sam Aiken caught seven passes for 90 yards in Monday night's loss to the Saints.

Julian Edelman was tagged as the emergency third quarterback, setting up Aiken for an increased role. The Saints did an amazing job of taking Wes Welker and Randy Moss out of the game which left openings for Aiken, who is primarily a special teams ace. Don't add him even though he was targeted 10 times.

Patriots declared WR Sam Aiken (hip) inactive for Sunday's game against the Jets.

Julian Edelman has the No. 3 WR job to himself. The other Patriots inactives are DL Jarvis Green, RB Sammy Morris, OT Matt Light, OG Stephen Neal, LB Rob Ninkovich, CB Shawn Springs and RB Fred Taylor.
