Free agent SS Lawyer Milloy is still holding out hope of playing a 16th season.
"I have all the intentions of playing," said Milloy. "I'm a free agent just like any other free agent out there." The 37-year-old didn't do himself any favors by slamming the Seahawks' decision to start Tarvaris Jackson over Charlie Whitehurst. Thu, Aug 25, 2011 05:31:00 PM

Free agent SS Lawyer Milloy is not expected back with the Seahawks.

Milloy recently confirmed that he'll play a 16th season, but he's looking to play for a team that has a realistic shot at the Super Bowl. The 37-year-old is also reportedly in search of a better contract than the veteran minimum he played under last season.

Free agent SS Lawyer Milloy indicated that he plans to play a 16th season in 2011.

"I’m a free agent, just like anybody else. I’m available to all teams," said Milloy, who turns 38 this season. "And as long as I feel that I can do that and keep my body in shape (I’ll keep playing)." Milloy struggled both in run support and coverage last season and didn't have an interception. The Seahawks have younger players who can do what Milloy did for much cheaper.

Free agent SS Lawyer Milloy has given no indication whether he will return for a 16th NFL season this year.

Though Milloy finished second on the team with 88 tackles, he's simply lost too much speed to remain a viable starter at age 37. The Seahawks would like to see him back as a coach on the field to their young safeties, especially Earl Thomas -- who the team believes is a "star in the making." Kam Chancellor is currently penciled in as the starting strong safety.

The Tacoma News Tribune suggests that veteran SS Lawyer Milloy may have played his last game in the NFL.

Milloy is an impending unrestricted free agent. Although he says his body feels "great," his lack of speed was exposed by the Bears and Greg Olsen in Sunday's Divisional Round loss. At age 37, Milloy would fit as more of a veteran leader/backup than a starter in 2011 if he tries to continue his career.

Lawyer Milloy opened camp as the first-team strong safety, ahead of Jordan Babineaux.

Milloy will be 37 in November and is a huge liability in coverage. He should be pushed hard by Babineaux in camp, but Milloy has the advantage of a strong relationship with coach Pete Carroll from their time together with the Patriots.

Seahawks re-signed S Lawyer Milloy to a one-year contract.

Milloy, entering his age-37 season, made 34 tackles and had two pass breakups in 16 games off the bench last year. He'll compete for playing time as the third safety behind starting FS Earl Thomas and SS Jordan Babineaux.

Coach Pete Carroll said he hopes free agent SS Lawyer Milloy will re-sign with the Seahawks.

The 36-year-old is a liability in coverage, but the Seahawks don't currently have another candidate to play strong safety. Milloy has a strong history with Carroll from their time together in New England

Seahawks signed SS Lawyer Milloy, formerly of the Falcons.

The move indicates that Deon Grant will move back to free safety, with Jordan Babineaux as Seattle's No. 3 option. The fit is O.K. on paper because Milloy knows Jim Mora's scheme, but he turns 36 during the season and is a liability in coverage. The Seahawks are going to poor against the pass again.

Free agent SS Lawyer Milloy recently turned down a contract offer from the Lions, according to's Steve Wyche.

Milloy should know by now that he won't get more than a minimum salary, but rejected Detroit's offer anyway. He likely could've started immediately over career special teamer Kalvin Pearson and journeyman Marquand Manuel.

The Falcons and free agent SS Lawyer Milloy have mutually agreed to go their separate ways, according to Milloy's agent.

This is a nice way of saying the Falcons don't want him. Assuming the Falcons don't move FS Erik Coleman to the strong side and Thomas DeCoud into the lineup, they'll be in the market for a "box" safety in free agency and the draft. Milloy, 35, has little cover skill remaining and is unlikely to find a starting job. He has been linked to Seattle, but would be a backup there.

Free agent SS Lawyer Milloy has stated that he'd like to finish his career with the Seahawks.

Milloy, 35, is close to new Seattle coach Jim Mora and is a native of Tacoma. He could back up Deon Grant there, but wouldn't be viewed as a starter.

Jeff Schultz of the Atlanta Journal-Constitution believes the Falcons should hold on to veteran S Lawyer Milloy.

Milloy's skills have deteriorated some, but he does provide a veteran presence on a young squad. Expect to see some younger legs in the secondary even if they find a roster spot for Milloy.

Falcons S Lawyer Milloy was partially responsible for a pair of touchdowns in Atlanta's playoff loss.

The Falcons didn't need another excuse not to bring back the 35-year-old, but now they have it. Milloy is a good leader, but Atlanta should try to get younger in the secondary.

NFL Network's Steve Wyche confirms that Falcons SS Lawyer Milloy (back) will play in Saturday's playoff game against Arizona.

Milloy hasn't sniffed the playoffs since his last year in New England (2002), so he's certain to play. He is likely to drop back often in pass coverage Saturday, however, and that's not his strength. Look for the Cardinals to throw at Milloy early and often, especially if he's on Steve Breaston.
